1. Select the correct probe tip with respect to the isolation distance between the bars

The conical (90 °) interchangeable probe tip that come in the package works with 0.5-2mm insulation distance between the bars

It exists other probe tips for different insulation distances between the bars. Consult us for advice to choose the right probe tip.

18. Autoskip and Pause are used during uneven rotation of the rotor, or if longer time than 70 sec takes to rotate the rotor 360º. For more information click on the tab Info.

19. At risk of vibrations at start and stop: Rotate the rotor before the measuring starting point and start the measuring when it is on the marked bar. Then stop the measuring after it has passed the starting point again 360º. This is done to prevent measurment noise and vibrations that could effect the measuring result.

Short description of the functions for the Karmatic is in the Tab Info Measure In the green cell, input the number of Bars (1 -1000) on the motor, if you wish to stop the measurement when this number is reached. The number of measured Bars are shown in the cell below. If the value in the green cell is Blank or 0, the measurement will continue until you press the Stop button. This mode is used for objects without Bars. MBTB (m) Bar n & n: Maximum Bar to Bar and corresponding Bar numbers. MBTB (m) over n Bars: Maximum Step over n Bars. The value of n must be between 1 and the number of Bars on the Commutator. When the measurement is finished, the n value can be changed and the corresponding MBTB can be calculated. TIR (m) : The difference between the Max- and Min- value (Peak to Peak). Measured Points, max 10 000: Number of measured points. Total Time, seconds: Total measuring time. Readings per seconds: Average sampling rate, Measured Points divided by Total Time. If Auto Skip is active, this value is calculated. Auto Skip

If Auto-Skip is checked, the program will exclude the next value on the Bar, if this is equal to the last value. This function will reduce the number of measured points, stored in memory. When measuring a Commutator, use this function if the measuring time is very long.

Start Starts a new measurement. The values for the last measurement will be deleted if Ok is clicked. Click Cancel if you want to save the last measurement before proceeding. Place the probe tip on a Bar and Reset the measuring unit (LT30) and then click Start. The last measurement is deleted and the new measurement starts after the "beep".

If no Bar numbers are set in the green cell: Click Stop when the commutator is rotated 360 degrees. The measurement is finished after the "beep".

If the number of Bars for the Commutator is set in the green cell, the measurement will stop after all Bars are calculated. Stop When the measurement is finished, Click on Stop If maximum number of points (10000) exceeds during the measurement, the program terminates and calculation starts. It may take a few seconds to update all charts. The values for each measured point is stored in the Data Sheet. Number of measured points / Bars and Min / Max / MBTB/TIR are calculated.

Pause

Click Pause to temporary interrupt the measurement. To continue, click OK.

Chart The axis scales are adjusted to the measured values when the measurement is finished. The vertical axis scale can be changed by pressing - or + Min / Max / P-P are calculated from raw data. If, for example, a commutator is measured, the values on the insulation between the Bars are included. Compare with the Bar chart. For a more detailed version of the polar chart, select the Profile Polar tab.

Bars linear Chart

This sheet shows the result of the Bar calculation. The axis scales are adjusted to the Bar values when the measurement is finished. The vertical axis scale can be changed by pressing - or + MBTB / Min / Max / TIR are calculated from the maximum value on each Bar. MBTB(1) is the maximum difference between two adjacent Bars. MBTB(n) is the maximum difference over n Bars. TIR is the Total Indicated Runout (Peak to Peak). For a more detailed version of the polar chart, select the the Bar polar tab.

This sheet may contain up to 10,000 rows. Please be aware if printing this sheet. Up to 130 pages may be printed! Measured raw data, m. Calculated Bar values, m

Constructed data for the Bar Chart, including OffsetX-axis values for the Bar Chart.

Speed Calculator This sheet contains a calculator for estimating the minimum and maximum time for a 360 deg rotation of the motor. The maximum time is limited by the maximum number (10.000) of allowed measured points. The minimum time depends on the samplig rate, about 140 points/sec, of the measuring system. At least one (1) measured point must be on the insulation between the Bars, else the Bar cannot be calculated. Sampling rate can be found in the Measure sheet. If the sampling rate, in cell B5 is changed, the table is recalculated. The minimum time depends on the type of probe tip, collector diameter and gap between Bars.

Short description of the functions for the Analyzer is in the Tab Info Linear Import Karmatic Files The Bar values are shown in a Linear Chart. Maximum five (5) Karmatic Files can be imported. Karmatic Files created in Swedish, English and French language version of Karmatic VBA application, can be imported. All Karmatic Files must be located in the same folder. Activate Offset The X-offset value represents the number of Bars, that the Bar-diagram is moved to the left. Enter the X-offset value in the X-column, to the right of the corresponding File Name. The Offset value must be less than the number of Bars on the Commutator. The Y-offset value moves the diagram in vertical direction. Input the Y-offset value in the Ycolumn, to the right of the corresponding File Name. Positive and negative values are accepted. If some part of the diagram exceeds the chart limits, the scale is automatically changed. All offset values are absolute values, calculations are always relative the original diagram. Reset all Offset All Offset values are Reset, and the Diagrams are set back to the original positions. Close imported Karmatic Files If this option is checked, the Workbooks are closed after importing data. If unchecked, the Workbooks are open for quick access to original data.

Polar The Bar values are shown in a Polar Chart.

KarmaticFiles The Bar values in columns A - E, corresponds to the displayed charts, including offset values. Original Bar values are in columns H - L. Attention!! Pay attention when printing this Sheet. There may be up to 10000 rows, corresponding to about 200 pages.
