ELS creates business-savvy solutions to improve employee recruitment, engagement, and retention. Because every business is unique, the ELS team conducts an in-depth study to fully understand a client’s needs and the challenges it faces. Then we work closely with them to create specialized educational offerings that provide smart, practical solutions such as: > Leadership training to meet projected high-level openings and succession planning needs > Professional certification education to enable career advancement > Supplemental skills training to create more valuable managers > Providing a clear path from an associate’s to a bachelor’s degree Our ability to assess an organization’s talent needs and then devise effective solutions to meet them is just one reason so many organizations rely on ELS to retool and reenergize their workforce. The following pages describe various areas of ELS expertise as well as case histories showing what a well-designed education program can do for an organization like yours.

Adding extra value to a manager’s menu of talents. ELS is working with a national fast food chain to create a world-class corporate university. One of its first goals: to help its local managers run their restaurants more efficiently. ELS is creating a made-to-order business management program to engage and motivate managers so they know as much about P&Ls as they do about burgers and fries.

ELS can put together a broad range of solutions from undergraduate to graduate degrees to professional and continuing education certificates. FIRE AND POLICE ELS works with fire and police departments across the country to help create clear paths to career development and promotion. Our specialized programs lead to the types of undergraduate degrees and professional certifications that fire and police personnel need to reach their career goals and help ensure the safety of our families and communities.

ELS answers a fire department’s leadership alarm. In the next 2 years, 11 top officers in a county fire department will be retiring. The department is working closely with ELS to identify competency gaps in their high-potential firefighters who can fill these leadership positions. ELS is also creating a set of courses to address those gaps so that properly trained firefighters will be ready to step into leadership positions as soon as they are needed.

HEALTH CARE ORGANIZATIONS Changes in health care regulations combined with an aging population are creating an ever-increasing need for more well-trained nurses and highly competent IT departments responsible for maintaining the privacy of medical records. ELS is working with health care providers across the country to simplify and clarify the path to professional training and career advancement.

Bringing diverse partners together for the benefit of all. A leading hospital system in California needed more BSN-qualified nurses. So ELS partnered with local community colleges and the hospital system to ensure that Kaplan University bachelor’s degrees, community colleges’ associate’s degrees, and the hospital system’s needs were all in sync to provide a clearly defined path to success.

ACADEMIC RELATIONS Experience tells us that administrators and faculty are most concerned with providing attractive and easily understood paths to education success. ELS works closely with community college leaders to create a clear path for their students to attain associate’s degrees and then move on to bachelor’s degrees – and beyond. Custom-designed programs created by ELS can help community colleges: > Increase transfer and completion rates > Expand program offerings by assisting in future curriculum development > Provide community college employees with opportunities for professional development

ELS seeks to develop mutually beneficial relationships with academic institutions that share our vision and goals of making education adapt to specific student needs and produce the best possible outcomes.

Why choose Kaplan University? Specialized programs to meet your needs With years of experience and a wealth of available classes to draw upon, your ELS team can build a tailored program that specifically answers your particular needs. Dedicated Admissions Advisors From before the first class, all the way through graduation, we’re there to help. Kaplan University students receive professional guidance from a team of advisors throughout the life of their instruction.1 Admissions, financial aid, academic advising – a Kaplan University student advocate is there to support every step of the way. The Kaplan CommitmentSM We stand behind our academic quality and believe students have the right to make an educated decision about their education. At Kaplan University, students can take the first 5 weeks of class to decide if they will stay and pursue their studies— or withdraw without any financial obligation beyond the application fee.2 That’s how confident we are in the quality of our instructors and programs and how committed we are to serving our students. Credit for Prior Learning Kaplan University students may save time and money because we value previous accomplishments, work skills, and life experiences. Our Prior Learning Assessment Center works with students to determine eligible college transfer credit. In addition, undergraduate students may take our portfolio development course to learn if their knowledge or experiences can translate into college credit.3 That’s why, in many cases, Kaplan University students need fewer courses and reach their goals sooner. Partnership With Future Workplace Jeanne Meister literally co-wrote the book on future work environments, The 2020 Workplace: How Innovative Companies Attract, Develop, and Keep Tomorrow’s Employees Today. Kaplan University is thrilled to partner with Jeanne and bring her business-savvy insights and expertise to our clients.

Kaplan University. Celebrating 75 years of innovation in education. In 1937, the founding campus of what became known as Kaplan University opened its doors. It represented an innovative concept by offering a convenient, local alternative for postsecondary business education. Today, that forwardthinking model of education is working for 53,000 students around the world – both online and on campus. ELS is building upon these revolutionary roots to partner with a wide range of businesses and community colleges to provide the same opportunities our original campus did 75 years ago: a convenient, flexible path to a quality education and a chance to build a more promising and rewarding future.
