EOEM Focus

Featuring proven IT. technology, the MV801 is the ideal component solution for your medium voltage soft starting applications. Eaton has capitalized on the success of the Cutler-Hammer Intelligent Technologies (IT.) S801 Soft Starter by creating the MV801, a medium voltage device using the same Control Interface Module and control algorithms as its low voltage counterpart.

The unique inclusive design of the MV801 encases all its components, including the SCRs and power and control circuitry. What makes the MV801 even more distinctive is its internal run bypass contactor and motor overload protection. These functions are usually provided by separate devices in typical medium voltage soft starters. This uncluttered design simplifies installation while minimizing device and assembly costs; it’s the answer for Electrical OEMs that do not manufacture their own soft starter.

The Eaton component approach to medium voltage soft starting is to offer EOEMs a complete package, facilitating assembly integration and lowering costs. You don’t have to worry about ordering separate SCRs or printed circuit boards or the cost associated with designing the appropriate component mounting, layout and wiring with proper electrical clearances, shielding and cooling. The IT. MV801 is a cost-effective alternative for OEMs that currently buy complete structures. Now you have the solution that allows you to leverage your competitive capabilities. Look to Eaton’s Cutler-Hammer Intelligent Technologies for an easy and straightforward solution that allows you to customize your own medium voltage soft starter assembly.

Control Module

The control circuitry and Control Interface Module are housed in a separate unit apart from the power circuitry, providing the ultimate in design flexibility. This feature results in the control circuitry operating at lower temperatures thereby maximizing the life of the electronic components. It also minimizes electromagnetic interference from the power circuit increasing the accuracy and reliability of the system.

Isolation MV801 Soft Starter

The MV801 includes built in run bypass contactors and overload protection. This unique inclusive design provides all necessary soft starter components in one package.

What value can the MV801 offer? For starters, the internal run bypass contactor makes the MV801 smaller than most competitive product solutions. If you’re still not convinced, another feature of the MV801 is run bypass mode, which minimizes the heat generated by the starter, further reducing enclosure sizes. And every 1" of enclosure spacesavings can equal up to $100 in cost-savings. Not only does the IT. MV801 offer significant value to EOEMs as an open component, but when combined with industryproven Ampgard® components it provides electrical system designers a medium voltage solution ideally suited for industrial applications. With its rollout main contactor and SCR truck, the Ampgard® IT. MV801 allows easy access to the soft start components for maintenance and also for design flexibility.

IT. MV801 Medium Voltage Soft Starter Features & Benefits Feature

Benefit

Run Bypass Mode

Significantly reduces the heat generated by the starter, minimizing enclosure sizes and costs. Run bypass mode greatly reduces internal heating created by the SCRs, while the bypass contactor directly connects the motor to the line and improves system efficiency by reducing internal power losses.

Solid-State Overload Protection

Provides accurate current measurement and trip settings. Sophisticated algorithms solve a series of differential equations that model true motor heating and cooling resulting in superior motor overload protection while minimizing nuisance trips. Advanced selectable protective features safeguard the motor and system against a variety of system faults.

Internal Run Bypass Contactors and Overload Protection

Eliminate the need for additonal devices, thereby reducing enclosure sizes, minmizing installation and wiring time, and reducing overall assembly size and cost.
