Natural Disasters, Conflict IDPs, Coordination and DRR activity UPDATE: 18 April to 24 April 2018 Natural Disasters Update: Herat:

As per the initial report obtained from ANDMA, 413 Families were reportedly displaced due to dry spell from different districts (Balamurghab, Qurmach, Muqure, Jawand and Qalanow) of Badghis currently residing in Kehdistan area of Anjil district. A joint assessment team consisting of IOM, WFP, IRC and ANDMA conducted assessment on 20 April and found 360 displaced families in need of humanitarian assistance. IOM distributed family module, blankets, solar, winter modules and tarpaulins on 22 April. WFP distributed food items and IRC distributed family tents and Latrine while UNICEF distributed hygiene kits. In a separate incident, as per the report obtained from district authorities, 25 families were reportedly affected by flood in Chesht district on 17 April. ANDMA verified the caseload while the areas is insecure and the team can not access the affected area. ANDMA is coordinating with district authorities, the assessment team will be mobilized once the areas is secured for assessment. Badghis: As a result of flood on 17 April, 35 families were reportedly affected in Moqar and Bala Morghab districts. The areas is inaccessible due to security concerns. ANDMA has requested DDMC to conduct assessment and share the findings of the assessment. Badakhshan: As reported by ANDMA, six families were affected by heavy rainfall in Faizabad on 08 April. A joint assessment team consisting of IOM and ANDMA initiated assessment. Five family were found eligible for humanitarian assistance. IOM distributed family module, blankets and emergency shelter and solar lanterns while ANDMA covered food needs of the affected families.

In a separated incident, reportedly 100 families were affected by heavy rainfall in Faizabad that was received through petition from the affected families. The petitions are under review by the PDMC members, an assessment team will be stablished verify the needs of the affected families following a coordination meeting. Faryab: As per the initial report obtained from ANDMA, 120 families were reportedly affected by heavy rainfall in Ghormach district. The caseload not confirmed by government officials, the districts I insecure and can not be accessed by humanitarian partners. ANDMA is verifying the caseload, the findings will be shared with the partners.

Natural Disasters Update: Contin... Nangrahar: As per the initial report obtained from ANDMA, 15 families are reportedly affected by flood in Dur Baba district on 21 April. A joint assessment team consisting of IOM, WFP and district authorities conducted assessment on 23 April and found 16 families in need of humanitarian assistance. IOM distributed family module, blanket, tarpaulin and solar lanterns while WFP committed to cover food needs of the affected families.

Laghman: As per the initial report obtained from ANDMA; 24 families were reportedly affected by flood in Mehterlam, Alishing, Alingar and Qarghai districts on 22 April. A joint assessment team consisting of IOM, WFP, ANDMA and ARCS conducted assessment in Mehterlam and Qarghai districts on 23 April. 26 families were found eligible for humanitarian assistance. IOM distributed family module, blankets, family tents and tarpaulins to all verified families. WFP committed to cover food needs while ARCs will initiate assessment in the remaining districts and will share the outcome of the assessment with all partners. Kuner: As per the initial report obtained from ANDMA, five families were reportedly affected by flood in Nurgal and shigal districts. IMC conduct assessment in Nurgal district and found eight families in need of humanitarian assistance while the assessment in Shigal district is still pending due to security concerns. Parwan: As per the initial report obtained from ANDMA, around 65 families were reportedly affected by flood (40 families in Kohi Safi, 12 in Bagram, 13 families in Charikar districts) on 09 April. A joint assessment team consisting of IOM, ANDMA and DRR initiated assessment; 19 families were found eligible for humanitarian assistance. IOM distributed family modules, blanket, emergency shelter modules and three family tent to affected families whose house are completely destroyed while ANDMA covered food needs of the affected families.

Distribution of relief assistance to dry spell IDP families in Kehdistan area, Injil district, Herat provinces , 22 April, 2018 @ IOM

Conflict IDPs Update: Kunar: As per initial report, DoRR received over 300 petitions from Dangam districts claiming to be displaced by cross border shelling and in need of humanitarian assistance. The families have reportedly been displaced from Dangam bordering areas and currently residing in Dandam center, Asmar, Shegal and Asadabad districts. A joint assessment team consisting of PU-AMI, WFP, APA, DoRR initiated assessment and so far; 128 families found in Dangam and Asmar district in need of humanitarian assistance. PU-AMI distributed cash assistance to 62 families while the assistance is on-going for the remaining families. The team has recommended family tents to nine families which will be referred to IOM once the assessment in concluded. ARCs also concluded the assessment in the remote area of Dangam districts, 243 families are found eligible for humanitarian assistance, ARCS will distribute relief assistance to these families. Nangrahar: OCHA received a petition from DoRR on 01 April indicating 92 families reportedly displaced from various districts (Chaprehar, Achin, Pachir Agam and Kunar-Dangam) due to Intimidation and threats by AGEs. The petition was screened and the assessment was initiated by IRC on 11 April, 17 families were found eligible for humanitarian assistance. In addition, OCHA has received petitions indicating 206 families displaced by conflict from various locations in the province. A petitions will be screened and a joint assessment team will be established to verify the needs. Laghman: 280 families were reportedly displaced by conflict from Alingar district to Mehtarlam, A joint assessment team led by DRC initiated assessment. 30 families were found eligible for humanitarian assistance, DRC will distribute cash for NFIs while food needs will be covered by WFP. In a separate incident, 210 families were reportedly displaced by conflict from multiple location in Laghman. The families are currently residing in Mehtarlam. Following the screening of the petition by DoRR and OCHA; a joint assessment team consisting of IOM, APA, WFP, DoRR and DRC has initiated assessment. IOM was requested to joint the assessment and cover the needs as the partners have no stocks at the moment. The team initiated the assessment but found inconsistency and duplication in the list thus the assessment is paused and OCHA and DoRR is task to re-verify the list and come up with the list of genuine newly displaced IDPs for assessment.

Faryab: Reportedly 369 families were displaced by conflict from Khoja Sabz Posh, Pashtoon Kot, Dawlatabad, Qaisar, Asmar districts currently residing in Maimana city. All the families were assessed by SCI, WFP, ACTED and DACAAR, 173 families were found in need of humanitarian assistance. ACTED distributed multi purpose cash assistance, SCI distributed NFIs while WFP distributed food items to 127 families. The distribution of assistance to the remaining 46 families is pending.
