INVITATION to BE PART OF THE WIND MISSION TO TURKEY THE DANISH WIND ENERGY BOOTH AT ICCI 2014 ISTANBUL & WIND SECTOR FACT-FINDING TRIP TO İZMİR WEEK 17

Turkey is an emerged wind energy market with a 3,000 MW installed capacity and with a 20,000 MW target for 2023. The market is very dynamic with a need of wind related technologies, know-how, equipment and machinery. Turkey is one of the 6 chosen “next 11” countries for which the Danish Government have launched a Growth Market Strategy. The overall goal is to increase exports by 50 % over a 5 year period till 2016. Given this target, wind energy is among the chosen sectors where Denmark can be a great role model to Turkey with a well-known brand image and reputation in the whole wind related value chain. In this framework, as a result of the cooperation with GLOBALmidt partly supported by EU Regional Development Funds and funds from Central Denmark Region (Region Midtjylland), The Trade Council in Turkey will be organizing a 3-4 days wind mission and fact-finding trip to the Turkish market targeting all wind related supply chain and stakeholders in Denmark will include: 

ANNEX I Turkish Wind - A Sector in Rapid Growth The existing wind power plant project stock requires over $ 10-12 billion investment in Turkish market for the next 4-5 years

The estimated economic growth in Turkey for 2013 is 4 percent

The 2015 wind capacity target for Turkey is 10 GW

WIND ENERGY MARKET IN TURKEY

Turkey is one of the most prominent wind markets in Europe with a 11 GW of project stock and with a national target of 20 GW wind power capacity by 2023

Since Turkey has to import its traditional energy sources such as natural gas and oil, there is a common focus from the public and private sector to develop renewable energy in Turkey, especially within the wind energy

About Turkey:

Turkey is one of the world’s fastest growing economies and has the 15 th highest buying power in the world. The annual growth rate of GDP in Turkey was over 5% from 2002 to 2012, and makes it a very attractive market for new investors. Danish export to Turkey accounts for DKK 4 billion, and Denmark and Turkey have signed a trade agreement with the sole purpose to strengthen the trade and cooperation between the countries further. This means that the Danish government expects to see an increase of Danish exports to Turkey with 50 % up until 2016. Approx. 80 mio. inhabitants and a continuously growing middle class demands higher standards and technologies including the renewable energy services.

Annex III - Current Status of Manufacturing of a Wind Turbine and its Parts in Turkey Turkey has set a target to manufacture its own local wind turbines under the project named MİLRES and the targets are to manufacture a 500 KW and 2,5 MW respectively. The below list taken from MİLRES coordination office gives an overview of the wind turbine production and supply chain in Turkey. It is important to note that there is a clear need of further technology and quality enhancement on the parts stated as “can be manufactured in Turkey” (turbines2,5) Thus there is a cooperation opportunity with the Danish companies.
