GEORG PHILIPP TELEMANN – ON THE 250TH ANNIVERSARY

„ALLEIN MUSIC KENNT NICHTS, ALS LAUTER GÜTE” Die diesjährigen Internationalen Tage der Alten Musik widmen sich einem Komponisten dessen Todesjahr sich heuer zum 250. Mal jährt: Georg Philipp Telemann. Kaum ein anderer Komponist des 18. Jahrhunderts hat ein Berufsbild vorgelebt das auch heute nicht an Aktualität verloren hat. Als Musiker hat er sich breit aufgestellt: er war ein genialer Komponist, ein unermüdlicher Netzwerker, Herausgeber, Veranstalter, Erneuerer, eben ein barocker Multitasker. Mit Konzerten, Vorträge und einer Orchester- und Kammermusikakademie wollen wir uns dem Jubilar nähern und Johann Matthesons Lob mit Leben erfüllen: Ein Lully wird gerühmt; Corelli lässt sich loben; nur Telemann allein ist über alles Lob erhaben

„MUSIC ALONE IS PURE PLEASURE” The 2017 International Early Music Days are dedicated to the composer whose death 250 years ago is being celebrated this year. It is hard to think of another 18th century musician whose exemplary working life is still relevant today. He was a brilliant composer, an untiring networker, publisher, promoter, innovator, in fact a baroque multi-tasker. With concerts, lectures, and an Orchestra and Chamber Music Academy we hope to get to know him better, and bring Johann Mattheson's words to life:

Lully is acclaimed; Corelli has made a name for himself; but only Telemann is above praise. To celebrate the 250th anniversary, orchestral and chamber music by G.P. Telemann will be selected. Teaching staff: Michi Gaigg Baroque violin I Carin van Heerden Baroque oboe and recorder I Claire Genewein Baroque flute I Franz Landlinger Natural trumpet I Claire Pottinger Violoncello I Anne Marie Dragosits Harpsichord I Martina Oman Repetiteur I Peter Schleuning Lecturer Orchestral work will take place in plenary, as it has in past years . The course is aimed at students of, and graduates in, Early Music. The registration deadline is December 15th 2016, the applicant's instrument must be named, and information provided about his or her background. A list of the planned chamber music pieces will be sent in good time. The following instruments are particularly welcome: Baroque violin, Baroque viola, Baroque cello, Double bass, Natural trumpet, Baroque flute, Recorder, Baroque oboe, Baroque bassoon, Harpsichord.
