Living in SCIENCE Residences: Before we start we would like to give you a general idea of what it will be like to live in a student residence. Living in SCIENCE residences means more than just having a roof over your head; it will be your home for the next 3-6-12 months. By this we mean that you will have both rights and responsibilities similar to those you have in a family and/or residence in your home country. For most of you, you will be sharing not just common facilities; you will also have to contribute to a nice and comfortable environment for everybody to live and study. This means that you must respect the rights of other people living there too, and at the same time expect them to do so as well. The best way to ensure this is by keeping an open mind and to participate in the daily activities and discussions with your floor mates. Rights and responsibilities We believe that rights and responsibilities go hand in hand and when you believe you have certain rights you must also consider the responsibilities that go along with these rights. For example:    

You have the right to a safe and secure residence area, but You also have the responsibility to keep your room door locked and not let any strangers into the residence. You have the right to a reasonably peaceful and quiet space in which to sleep and study, but You also have the responsibility to respect quiet hours, keep noise at minimum and to remind others politely that you expect the same from them.

We, at SCIENCE Housing Department, will do our very best to ensure that these rights are upheld during your stay at a SCIENCE residence. You share the responsibility. You can help ensure that these rights will be honored through thoughtful communication and discussions with your floor mates. Since not two of us are exactly alike in our habits and day-to-day routines, it is generally a good idea to sit down with your floor mates at the beginning of the semester to discuss and lay out some general house rules. This may save you time and frustration later on. We recommend that you meet with your floor mates on a monthly basis to ensure that the house rules are maintained by all and to welcome new tenants on the floor. In order to ensure a successful stay in a SCIENCE residence it is important that you spend some time with and get to know your new floor mates. A good way of getting along with floor mates is to share your common interests and discuss and respect your individual differences.

SCIENCE Housing is non-profit housing The room or apartment you are now staying in has been used by other students/scholars before you – that’s why it is not all brand new. It must also be used by coming students and scholars after you – that is why you need to treats the room, furniture etc. with care. Non-profit means that SCIENCE Housing Department does not earn any money or make profit from your stay. The money which you pay to us we in return pass on: To the owner/administrator of your building – the actual rent To suppliers, e.g. electricity/ internet/ heating companies etc. To buying and replacing furniture, home supplies, keys, etc. when these are worn out, broken or gone missing Repairs of e.g. a burst pipe or a broken window Housing and real estate in Copenhagen is working on market terms and is not subsidized in any way. This means that the only money we can pay the bills and spend on maintenance and improvements is what you pay to us – we have no other income. The only thing you get for free is us – SCIENCE Housing Department administration. We are not paid by your rent, but by the University of Copenhagen – our service is offered to you by the state of Denmark (the Danish tax payers, really). We hope this makes it evident why we have to count on your co-operation in keeping down expenses, so we don’t waste your money on unnecessary repairs or replacements when we could actually have spent the money on improving things, bought new furniture or painted rooms. Repairs are expensive – so please help us spend your money wisely Most of you probably find that your accommodation is terribly expensive. It is true! Denmark has one of the highest price- and wage levels in the world. This also goes for the cleaner, the plumber and the IT-guy – they all cost real serious money. That is why we need you to be precise when you tell us what is wrong – please give us all the details: When did it last work ? What happened when it stopped working ? Is it all the time ? Is it the same in the room next door ? All this information helps us work out what the problem may be, and which solution is the best and least expensive. It would be a stupid waste of money to call the mechanic when your car is just out of gas! When you ask for something to be repaired by for example an electrician to repair the stove, also make sure you have arranged for all the tasks within his field with us in advance. To call him again in two days for the washing machine is also a way to waste money and leave less money in the budget for other improvements.

Before you ask for a repair, please check what is the actual problem: There is no light in my lamp. Needs a new light bulb ? Has the fuse blown ? The drain does not work, it is clogged up Clean the drain with drain cleaner and remember to clean the drain after every shower. Please always talk to your neighbours or roommates/ flatmates to coordinate issues regarding your residence. Maintenance makes things last longer Remove stuff from your drain De-frost the fridge Descale your taps, shower room, tiles etc. Don’t wait until an item breaks before you tell us about it. Sometimes a repair will work out.

International Transfer: When transferring money from your bank account in your home country, it is important that you remember to indicate the swift code and beneficiary as well as the correct registration and account numbers, or if applicable the IBAN number (the bank information and procedures are mentioned in your ‘Rental Agreement’). Please be aware that the transfer procedure might take several days; so make sure you take care of everything well in advance. Making an international money transfer can be costly since the involved banks often add extra fees. You are responsible for paying these. What is SWIFT? Swift stands for Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication. It provides a financial message communications service among banks in over 120 countries. The banks use it, among other things, to make international payments. Some banks use a routing number or perhaps even have a third name for it. Ask your home bank what information is needed to make an international money transfer.

Always keep your receipts for future reference.

Deposit: You pay a security deposit of DKK 2000, unless otherwise stated in your rental agreement. The deposit will be used to cover any repairs due to damage caused by you (in your room or in the common areas), replacement of keys/locks, post-departure cleaning or other things that might have to be fixed at your expense. In other words: if the room is left in an unsatisfactory condition at the end of the semester, the deposit (or part of it) will not be returned to you! If you take good care of your room and the common facilities in your residence the deposit will be returned to you approximately eight weeks after your departure. You will receive more information about this before the end of your stay.

The security deposit cannot be used to pay any part of your rent.

Your Room: You rent either a single, or a shared room, or an apartment. The room is furnished with a bed, a desk with a chair, book shelves and a dresser/closet. If any of the above are missing or in poor condition at your arrival, please contact SCIENCE Housing Department as soon as possible in order to replace the missing/broken items. It is your responsibility to keep the room clean and tidy. You are not allowed to use scotch tape or thumbtacks - you must use only the sticky putty type: FunTac, Blu-Tack, PataFix etc. to hang poster and/or pictures on the wall. It is not permitted for anyone but you to sleep and live in the room you rent. If you have family or friends coming to visit you during the semester, they should book a hotel room or hostel. Please see suggestions below:

Lodging for Family and Friends: The CabInn Hotels are reasonably priced budget hotels. There are several of them in downtown Copenhagen, and also two hotels in Frederiksberg close to campus. Please see www.cabinn.dk/ To find and book rooms at B&Bs, youth hostels or Sleep-ins, check out Wonderful Copenhagen Tourist Information at Vesterbrogade 4A (just across the street from Tivoli’s main entrance), or www.woco.dk, or www.danhostel.dk, or www.sleepinheaven.dk

Inventory Report: On our website you will find an Inventory Report, which must be filled out and returned to SCIENCE Housing Department within 7 days after your arrival. The Inventory Report is your chance to report if your room is not in a satisfactory condition or if there are any damages/broken items. It will also be used upon inspection of your room in order to return your security deposit to you.

Safety and Keys: For safety reasons you must remember to always lock the door to your room when you are out, even when you are only gone for a couple of minutes and still in the building. The main door to the residence should always be locked, even if you are inside.

Making extra copies of the keys is not possible, as they are system keys.

If you lock yourself out of your room, we have copies of room keys at SCIENCE Housing Department, which you can pick up during office hours. If you lose your key the replacement is at your own expense. Contact SCIENCE Housing Department as soon as you discover the keys are missing and we will make the arrangements for you to get a new set and have the locks changed if necessary. Please note that the replacement fee is approximately DKK 500 for new keys and approximately DKK 2000 to change the locks.

Electricity, Heating and Water In Denmark electricity and heating as well as water are quite expensive. We therefore ask you to turn off the light and electrical appliances (i.e. power adaptors for computers, cell phones etc.) when you are not using them. When you shower, try to keep it short, both for the sake of the other tenants, but also because heating, as mentioned, is expensive. We would like for our Faculty to contribute to a greener and more sustainable environment, in addition. If your heat is not working, contact the inspector at your residence and he/she will arrange for it to be fixed. The following pages on your specific residence, will tell you how to contact the inspector (if your building does not have an inspector, you must contact SCIENCE Housing Department). You should be aware that it is quite common in Denmark for the housing administrators to turn off the central heating from April to October. There will of course still be hot water.

Cleaning and Maintenance: It is your responsibility to keep your room and any shared facilities clean and tidy. Remember that cleaning supplies are at your own expense. We suggest you set up a meeting for everybody in your residence in the beginning of the semester to set up a cleaning schedule. Daily cleaning If you live in a residence with shared kitchen/bathrooms/lounge, there are some things that you should be aware of: Kitchen     

Do your dishes as soon as you have finished cooking and eating. Make sure you dry them and put them back in the cupboards. Do not leave them in the kitchen sink or on the drying rack. Clean the counters (and dining table) when you have finished cooking and eating. If you have used the stove or oven, clean it after use. Sweep the kitchen floor. Take out the garbage every day.

Toilets & bathrooms  The toilet and bathroom sink should be cleaned every day for your own sake.  The shower should be dried after each use. Swipe the water from the walls and floor and make sure you remove hair and soap residue from the drain, otherwise the pipes will block. The inspectors will not see to minor problems like drains that are clogged-up due to common residue. If you experience slow drainage, you may use ‘afløbsrens’ which can be bought at any supermarket. Pour half a bottle into the drain before you go to bed and leave it overnight. The drain should be clear for flow in the morning. Weekly - Carpets should be vacuumed. Generally, vacuum cleaners are supplied. - Vinyl floors should be washed. - Bathroom floors should be washed. Monthly - Showers should be decalcified using a calcium remover (i.e. “Minus Kalk”). - Refrigerators and freezers should be cleaned/defrosted and old food thrown away. Remember that an unclean residence is not a nice place to be and may even develop into a serious health hazard. There have been incidences where cockroaches and other pests have had to be removed by professional pest control, because rooms have been neglected and hygiene completely compromised. Pests come about because of un-cleanliness, food leftovers in the garbage etc. Therefore, we expect you to keep everything nice and clean throughout your stay. Please note also that SCIENCE Housing Department reserves the right to send in cleaners at your expense, if it is needed.

Electrical Fuses: If you experience a short circuit in your room or residence, it may be because a fuse is blown. It is important that you check if perhaps the electrical system has been overloaded (if you have plugged in a device that uses more than 220 volts, or if several devises use the same outlet). If this is the case you will have to remove the cause before charging the system again. Fuses may be bought in any supermarkets (Fakta or Netto) and 10 amps are the most common (make sure to look at your fuse box firstly, though; it will tell you which type you must use). SCIENCE Housing Department also has some extra fuses that may be picked up if needed. The fuse box must be shut down before changing the fuse, and then recharged after the replacement. Inspectors do not consider blown fuses an emergency, so it is important that you rule out this problem before asking for assistance for lack of electricity.

Dishwashers: Below is a scanned image of the opened front of a dishwasher and an overview of the chemicals/detergents to use - and where to apply these in the machine (A, B, C).

Please note that the machine will tell you (when a light come on) that it needs "rinse aid" (the symbol looks like a *) and "salt" (the symbol looks like the letter S). Detergent is needed with every wash. Neither soap rinse aid nor salt are expensive, and they can be bought in any supermarket. The machine will not function properly if these things are not added and your dishes will not be clean. Please make sure that this is indeed the case in your apartment/kitchen.

Recycling: In Denmark we recycle as much as possible Bottles and cans should be returned to the supermarket where they have recycling-automats for them. Remember that you pay a deposit for bottles/cans when you purchase them, which is returned to you when you return the bottles/cans. The bottles will be marked with the letter A, B, or C which indicates the deposit value.

Other glass bottles can be disposed of in special containers. Newspapers, magazines, etc. are also recycled. Typically, where your trash containers are located, you will find specific containers for glass, cardboard, and paper. Below are the Danish designations:    

Brændbart = regular (kitchen) waste. Pap = cardboard Papir = paper Glas = glass

Noise and Parties: Remember that you have come to Copenhagen to study and so have those with whom you share the residence. Therefore, it is essential that you respect that noise is to be kept at a minimum level to provide a good study environment. We also ask you to respect your neighbours, and remind you that by Danish law loud music etc. is not allowed after 10:00 pm on weekdays and midnight on weekends! You live in a regular residential area, not on a secluded campus. If you have guests we ask you to consider the other people living in the residence. Respect them, if they ask you to be quiet.

Smoking: Smoking restrictions have become more and more common in Denmark and most public institutions have prohibited smoking on their premises. This goes for SCIENCE as well: all our buildings are non-smoking zones. This includes all our residences and shared apartments, as we cannot endorse that future residents be subjected to living conditions that may be hazardous to their health. We thank you for respecting this rule.

Danish “Licens”: In Denmark all residents must pay the Danish “Licens” for media. “Licens” is a state fee that must be paid if you use information appliances in your home (such as a computer, a TV, a radio etc). The license costs DKK 1176 every 6 months (fewer months cost the same). You will receive a sign up sheet directly in the mail. You may also sign up at www.dr.dk, or talk to SCIENCE Housing Department.

Shopping: General shopping for food is best done at the inexpensive supermarket chain called Netto, or the one called Fakta. They both have a fairly good selection of your basic food products at a reasonable price. Føtex and Kvickly are supermarkets with a wider selection of goods, however, a little more expensive than Netto and Fakta. Føtex and Kvickly also carry stationary supplies, electrical appliances etc. The opening hours in supermarkets are from 8 am to 10 pm each day. Smaller stores will most likely close around 6 pm on weekdays, 2 pm on Saturday and they are usually closed on Sundays.

Most supermarkets such as, Føtex, Kvickly (incl. Superbrugsen, Dagligbrugsen; Irma etc.) have bakeries with fresh bread and pastries. They usually open at 8 am. Most supermarkets in Denmark sell “over the counter” (i.e. without prescription) painkillers/aspirin and cough syrup etc. The regular painkillers/aspirin are called “Panodil” or the cheaper “Simplex.”

Housing Subsidy (“Boligstøtte”): International students and guests that live in a residence with own kitchenette may apply for housing subsidy via the Danish state. If you receive scholarships, grants, or bursaries you may not be eligible for the subsidy, however. Please contact your local Udbetaling Danmark to acquire the correct form and note that you are responsible for understanding all the rules prior to applying. International students may lose their residency permit if it turns out that they are not entitled to receive the subsidy. SCIENCE Housing Department will assist you in filling in the section specific to your accommodation; the remainder must be done by you.

Leaving Denmark: Danish law lays down that all people residing in Denmark must notify the national register (“folkeregisteret”) when they move. Please make sure to consult SCIENCE Housing Department website for further information on the steps that must be followed when leaving your current address in Copenhagen. http://www.SCIENCE.ku.dk/English/education/accommodation/Post_arrival_Information/Re gistration_at_the_Municipality.aspx The form must be sent to the following address, along with your Danish yellow medical card, within 5 days of your leaving. “Folkeregisteret”, Nyropsgade 1, 1602 København V.

This ends the general information on living in a SCIENCE residence. On the following pages you will find information on your specific residence.

bulbs (regular 40w or 60w may be bought at any supermarket as well); or the defrosting of freezers (you must remove all food and turn it off overnight while leaving old towels in the bottom to soak up the excess water). If you do contact the inspector about such a ‘minor problem’ before having tried to solve it yourself, you may be charged a fee. Internet Please see details on installing internet under the residence Ndr. Fasanvej. The floors Please avoid wearing shoes indoors. Wearing shoes makes noise which will seem quite loud to the neighbours. High heels are strictly forbidden on any of the wooden floors. This also goes for your guests as it makes holes in the floor. The floor should not be washed with regular soap as this dries out the floor and damages it. It must only be washed with soap flakes (sæbe spåner) or brown soap (brun sæbe) Plastic overlay for chairs You have been provided with a plastic underlay for your desk chair. You are required to use it under your desk chair to avoid unnecessary wear on the floor. Failure to do so will result in a charge for sanding down and varnishing. Trash The property is supplied with a rubbish chute. Only household garbage is thrown in the rubbish chute. Always use plastic bags which can be closed – approx. 15 litre bags fit the disposal. You may NOT clog the rubbish chute with garbage which is too big for the garbage disposal – such as pizza trays or anything other which cannot fit in a 15 litre bag. In addition, there are skips for various types of waste and you are required to respect the presorting of waste. All paper garbage such as circulars and newspapers must be put in the garbage container labelled “papir”. All cardboard must be placed in the garbage container labelled “pap”. This includes pizza boxes. All glass must be placed in the garbage container labelled “glas” which is located by nr. 22. All bulky refuse must be put in or straight in front of the shed for bulky refuse (storskrald) by nr. 22. All batteries must be handed in at the designated place at number 14 or handed in at the inspectors office. Mail pick-up Please put your name on your door and in particular on your mailbox, otherwise you will not receive your mail. Shopping The nearest Netto supermarket is located on Tranehavevej 1, and there is a Fakta on Borgbjergvej and another (24-7) on Mozarts Plads. The area around Mozarts Plads is good for local groceries shopping and is quite cozy with a few cafés and takeaway places.

Cleaning supplies are located in the common room. If you have a bicycle, you must make sure to park it in the designated racks in the courtyard. Please remember that the freezing device in your refrigerator does not function as a regular freezer; you cannot use it to store food that you want to freeze for a longer period of time.

Upon move-in you will be provided with a washing card that you must return to SCIENCE Housing Department at the end of your stay. You pay for use by purchasing credits online; you use credit cards for payment (see below steps). Saniva administrates the washing facilities at Tåsingegade Kollegiet. Upon arrival, laundry cards are issued from SCIENCE Housing Department along with your keys. Remember to return the laundry card along with your keys upon departure; otherwise DKK 150 will be deducted from your deposit to replace the card. Please note that neither Saniva nor SCIENCE Housing Department will refund whatever outstanding balance there may be on the card. You should therefore not deposit more onto the card than you are sure to use during your stay in the residence. If the card does not work, there may be old passwords attached to the card. In this case Saniva needs to reset all the information on the card so that you can use it. Call the 8-digit number that is on the card and ask the woman to please reset it (you give her the card number). When it is reset, the password is 1-2-3-4 and you can choose another one yourself. It is important that you remember to clean up after yourself. Many people use the facilities and they must be presentable at all times. Please also make sure to empty the tumble dryer filter upon use.

ØSTERBRO KOLLEGIET (for map see Strynøgade 5-7 at www.krak.dk)

This residence is located in Østerbro, a very “hip” part of the city, with lots of cafes, restaurants and take-out places. Søerne (the lakes), which run from Østerbro to Vesterbro, is a popular area for jogging, strolling and people-watching. From the north end of the area you can take a bike ride on Strandvejen, a beautiful scenic route that takes you north of the city, along the coast. Maintenance and inspection at Østerbro Kollegiet: Should go through SCIENCE Housing Department. Available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 9:30 am – 12:00 noon and 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Wednesday: 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Friday: 10 am – 12:00 noon and 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. The inspector will not see to minor problems; like the cleaning of drains for hair etc. (for this you may use ‘afløbsrens’ which can be bought at any supermarket); the changing of light bulbs (regular 40w or 60w may be bought at any supermarket as well); or the defrosting of freezers (you must remove all food and turn it off overnight while leaving old towels in the bottom to soak up the excess water). If you do contact the inspector about such a ‘minor problem’ before having tried to solve it yourself, you may be charged a fee. The Faculty of SCIENCE currently occupies approx. 98 rooms at this residence, which is newly renovated. During the coming semester more rooms will be available for SCIENCE accommodation. Each room has a private bathroom and a kitchenette. In the building are also common facilities which have balconies, a lounge, and laundry facilities on the top floor. Østerbro Kollegiet has a roof terrace for common use as well. The following is the official letter of welcome from the Board, it contains all the practical information you should need for your stay at Østerbro Kollegiet: Keys: Upon move in you receive one system key which fits the main entrance door, your room door, your mailbox, and the padlock at the storage room. You may also have received an electronic key which you can also use to enter the main entrance. Both must be returned at the end of your stay. For security reasons you must look after your keys and make sure not to lose them. If you do need new ones they may be ordered via SCIENCE Housing Department at SCIENCE. New keys are required at your own expense and lost keys are a costly affair, as the entire lock frame must be replaced. Storage Room: The storage room is to be found at the underground car park. There is one for each of the residence rooms and the numbers match correspondingly. The individual rooms do not have light within them, but the general light in the underground car park is always on. You may ask

It is marked in yellow on the pavement outside the main entrance. Internet: Østerbro Kollegiet has a 20Mbit broadband connection with TDC. The speed depends on how many uses the connection at once. In order to establish the connection, your computer must have a cable entry port (standard or USB) to be matched to the wall plug using a patch-cable. The configuration on your computer must be as follows: Click on LAN-connection in the Network Configurations on your computer, make sure that “Internet protocol (TCP/IP)” is checked off to retrieve automatic IP-address. Door Phone: The phone in your room functions only as a door phone. The display must show “P” and not “T” when you need to let a visitor in: you lift the receiver for a connection to the entrance door and then you press 5 or *5 to open the door. The visitor must press # plus the four digits listed in the grid below. This code is specific to your room. use the underground car park by drawing a valid parking ticket at a set hourly fee. There is a DKK 610,- charge if you park as opposed to the set standards for Copenhagen Municipality (for further information view: http://www.kk.dk/parkering.aspx) Washing Facilities: The laundry room is located on the fifth floor of Østerbro Kollegiet. You may book an opening for washing, by signing your name and room number in the respective timeframe. Washing hours are from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm every day. It costs DKK 17.00 for a wash and DKK 3.50 for every 10 minutes of tumble drying. You pay for use by purchasing credits online; you use credit cards for payment (see below steps). The company Saniva administrates the washing facilities at Østerbro Kollegiet. Information from Saniva: Go into the laundry and load your card. Press “my account” and see what the user number and password is. When you go online at www.saniva.dk you can log in with these details. If you wish to, you can change the password following.

Windows: The windows are secured with a child safety device. You unlock the device by opening the window just a little bit and then by pulling the window back towards yourself while pushing the plate at the bottom. The window is reversible for cleaning purposes. The fresh-air vent must be open and it must be cleaned regularly, to make sure that the air flow is cleared for passage. It is also important that you air out your room frequently to steer clear of fungus and mould on the premises. Fire Escapes: The doors that are located from the stairways to each floor are fire escapes. The doors that are in the hallways of each of the floors are fire escapes too. None of these doors must be blocked under any circumstances! The doors in the hallways must be open. In case of fire, the magnets that keep them open disengage automatically and close the door to contain the fire within a certain area. The buttons that say “Dørtryk” are for the testing of the fire escape mechanisms; they are for professional use only. Cleaning of the Common Areas: All residents must make sure to keep the common areas and the hallways clean. Residents take turn cleaning these, as accordingly to agreements made on each floor. All carry a responsibility that the residence hall is tidy and clean. The inspector sweeps and mops the hallway areas once a week. It is important that other common areas, such as the shared kitchens, are cleaned properly when used so that general

hygiene is not compromised. It is also encouraging for a good team spirit that all areas are well kept. Garbage All rooms have a garbage bin under their kitchen sink. The bin holds bags for 15 litres maximum, and must be used for regular waste only. These bags may be dumped in the trash chutes. All cardboard, newspaper, and magazines etc. must be disposed in the containers that are located near the entrance to the underground car park. Glass must be disposed of in the designated container as well. Do not through any of the above items in the chute. The system depends on suction which may be blocked by these. Pizza trays are to be completely dismantled (using water, for example) before thrown into the chute. Pizza trays should not be disposed off as cardboard waste though, as food leftovers may attract rats to the containers. Numbers for Emergency Use: If a water pipe bursts, or you experience any other event that demands immediate resolution, you must call the respective technician right away. It should be underlined however, that you must only call them directly if the situation calls for it. If you deem that it can wait until regular office hours, you contact the administration instead and they take it from there. Plumbing: Kjærs VVS Electrician: PSPU Teknik v/ Per Ulrich Locksmith:

For fire emergencies (police, fire department, ambulance) call 112! You can call this number from your house phone also. The Shared Kitchens: It is the responsibility of each floor that their respective kitchen is clean and tidy. You must therefore agree on taking turn to clean these areas. However, the shared kitchens must always be cleaned after use; all must take their part to encourage a pleasant atmosphere. Remember to return all items that you may have borrowed from the kitchen. From your rent a small amount will be deducted to benefit the general maintenance of the floor. A floor-treasurer will be responsible for allocating these resources appropriately. Common Room and Roof Terrace: It is a responsibility of all residents that the common room and the roof terrace are kept clean and tidy. Be considerate towards all others who would like to make use of these areas as well. The common room on the 5th floor may be used for social gatherings and parties, if you book the room ahead. You must write a note on the door and indicate the date of the event and the person(s) responsible. You must also inform Ninja Pedersen and SCIENCE Housing Department about the event. The room must always be thoroughly cleaned after an event or party. All premises, including the elevators, washrooms, stairways and hallways, must be cleaned after use if they carry remnants from the party.

It is prohibited to play music on the roof terrace, as this is disturbing to all others who reside in the area. When you throw parties in the common room you must also be considerate towards residents of the area and residents of Østerbro Kollegiet. Make sure to keep door and windows closed to contain the noise, and turn off the music if you need to air out the room. Should anything break in the room (for instance windows, tabletops, refrigerator, freezer, heater, sofa, tables, chairs etc.) the person(s) responsible will be billed. Note that authorities dictate that a maximum of 50 people must inhabit the common room at a time. Party Committee: A party committee makes sure to arrange several parties for the residents of Østerbro Kollegiet over the year. These may have a certain theme or context. If you would like to help out or co-arrange one of these events, then notify the board member on the first floor. *** Mail pick-up Please put your name in the designated area on your door and in particular on your mailbox, otherwise you will not receive your mail. Shopping On the street level, just on the corner of Tåsingegade, is a Fakta Supermarket and at Jagtvej 223 is a Netto Supermarket. Østerbrogade has lots of specialty shops, cafes, bakeries, etc. RA – Residence Assistant As we have many students living in Østerbro Kollegiet SCIENCE Housing Department has arranged that two of the tenants will be appointed Residence Assistant and will coordinate information from SCIENCE Housing Department as well as help all the tenants with finding out how everything works in the residence. The RAs are of course changing personnel – when you arrive in your apartment, ask us who is RA so you will know where to direct your questions. Transportation To get to the Faculty of SCIENCE from Strynøgade, catch bus 18 from Jagtvej (at the Serridslevvej intersection), going towards Friheden Station, a 6 minute walk. Get off at Falkoner Alle (at the Helgesvej intersection), go down Sankt Nikolajs Vej, continue on Thorvaldsensvej and make a right at Grønnegårdsvej which is part of the campus of the Faculty of SCIENCE. For Nørre Campus take bus 18 as well and get off at Universitetsparken.
