Kraft paper Our two Kraft paper mills, at Bäckhammar and Åmotfors in Värmland County, Sweden, are globally renowned for the quality and strength of their unbleached Kraft paper. The combination of our renewable natural resources, decades of expertise and modern manufacturing processes produce Kraft paper that is some of the strongest in the world. Used in packaging, sacks and a variety of specialist areas,

our Kraft paper is available in a range of specifications to suit customers’ needs. In Bäckhammar, our two paper machines produce 140,000 tonnes of unbleached Kraft paper every year, while Bäckhammar’s pulp mill produces 230,000 tonnes of unbleached pulp a year. And two unique paper machines at our plant in Åmotfors produce around 40,000 tonnes of speciality unbleached Kraft paper a year as well.

Natural Greaseproof As the world’s leading producer of premium greaseproof paper, we use only natural production processes. We refine the fibres to create a natural greaseproof barrier, without any need for chemicals. Our Natural Greaseproof range is the paper of choice for baking paper and baking cups, as well as renewable food packaging used for everything from luxury chocolates to top-selling cheese spreads, from frozen foods to fast foods. The forests outside our door mean the world to us. Everything we are, everything we do, stems from the nature of our Nordic home. The carefully managed forests that surround our four paper and pulp facilities in Sweden and Norway provide a renewable supply of quality pulpwood that we turn into premium paper. We are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC ®) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), ensuring we can trace back every tree to its origin, guaranteeing a sustainable supply chain. We know these forests, and use them in a way that provides true bioeconomic equilibrium. Even the climate plays a role: our long, cold winters and short, cool summers mean that our trees grow slowly, which creates much stronger fibres. That gives our paper a natural advantage. The Nordic region is known for high standards in environmental protection and sustainability. Certified internationally as ideal for food storage and packaging, our Kraft paper is used extensively on its own or as a component in sack or packaging solutions for fish, fruit and vegetables, ice cream and other foods. It is also converted into stylish yet strong carrier bags.

Our modern paper and pulp mills are the heart of our business: four paper mills and two pulp mills, all within 250 kilometres of each other, producing some of the best paper in the world. Set amidst the vast forests that provide our renewable raw materials, our mills close to the Swedish-Norwegian border are important players in their local communities. Home to a wealth of experience and a legacy of expertise in producing speciality paper dating back nearly 150 years, our mills use modern technology and processes that meet and exceed environmental requirements. Our mills produce two main types of premium quality paper – Natural Greaseproof and Kraft paper – both of which are used for a variety of purposes. 14

Our Sack Kraft paper allows the safe and convenient transportation of cement and other building materials, as well as chemicals. And with our special designations TEAQONE and T+, the world’s strongest paper, our Kraft paper always provides the strength our customers need. As well as packaging and storage, our paper is invaluable in many ways, some of which might surprise you. With increasing focus worldwide on the responsible disposal of household waste, our

BioKraft sack paper is being used in more and more markets as a rapidly digesting solution for biogas production. Many customers also use our Absorbent Kraft paper as a component in their own composite products, such as laminates and formed plywood. It is also an essential part of industryspecific evaporative air-conditioning systems. Our Electrotechnical Kraft paper is a vital component in the production of electrical transformers. Our Steel Interleaving Kraft paper is the best possible solution for avoiding damage during the cold-rolling production of stainless steel.
