How to Guide: Completing the Housing Application

Once you have been accepted to the University, you will log into myLEO with your student ID and password. Your password for the first logon is your birthday MMDDYY.

myLEO: You will find the Housing Application under the Residential Living and Learning header by selecting “Residential Living and Learning Housing Application”.

Once you have selected the application, you will be redirected to a new site. Your name, email address, and current classification are listed on the left under profile summary. Please make sure to review the classification and let us know if you believe it is wrong. Important information is displayed in the middle of the screen. Make sure to read all the points listed under Important Information.

You can find out information specific to your needs by selecting the blue titles as listed on the site. Once selected the drop down information will outline the application process specific to that group.

You also can retrieve your messages from this page by clicking the dropdown option next to the user name by selecting messages from the list located on the top right corner of the page.

Select “Application” in the top left corner next to Home. 

Make sure to read the points listed under important information on the page carefully.



Choose the contract you would like to complete. Pay attention to the years – the dates for the academic years are listed to help you.



Select “save & continue”.

The individual contracts may have a few different questions but the flow will be the same. As you read the text, make selections, and choose “save & continue”, you will move across the Application Menu. If you have to stop at any point and return later, you can return to the section you last saved by choosing it in the top Application Menu. It is very important to visit each section. As you “save & continue” the site will automatically take you to the next section.

Application Menu: 1. Welcome -

Begins the formal application. The $100 application fee is due within 10 business days of opening application. If not paid in 10 days, the application will be deleted but you may begin as a new application. Outlines the different contract periods, application process, and special memberships. Select “save & continue”.

Application Menu: 2. Personal & Missing Person Details -

Verify the information on file is accurate. Any discrepancies must be discussed with the Registrar office at 903-886-5064 and complete the necessary form available in the application. Identify the person you would like notified if you are deemed “missing”. Select “save & continue”.

Application Menu: 3. Housing and Meal Accommodations -

If you have any physical or emotional needs that would affect your room assignment or require accommodations, you must contact Student Disability Resources and Services All accommodations must be approved through Student Disability Resources and Services. Select “save & continue”.

Application Menu: 4. Profile -

-

Complete each question. Your answers will be used to calculate matches in the roommate search and are viewable by possible roommates. Select “save & continue”.

Application Menu: 5. Living Learning Communities -

Please check all living learning communities for which you are interested in participating. If you are not interested in applying to a LLC, please do not check any boxes. Select “save & continue”.

Application Menu: 6A. Application Fee -

The application fee is nonrefundable. This fee must be paid before you can select a specific room. Select “Pay Now” and you will be redirected to a secure page to pay with a credit card.

Application Menu: 6B. Academic Year Contract Agreement -

Once the application fee is paid, it disappears from the Application Menu. The contract now becomes #6. Read the entire document.

o Please note that the contract is for the academic year and includes fall and spring semesters. Check “I agree to the terms of the contract”. Type in your name as an electronic signature. Select “save & continue”.

Application Menu: 7. Meal Plan -

Select the meal plan of choice. Meal Plans are only required for first-year freshmen. Select “save & continue”.

Application Menu: 8. Meal Plan Contract -

Read the entire document.

o Please note that the contract is for the academic year and includes fall and spring semesters. Check “I agree to the terms of the contract”. Type in your name as an electronic signature. Select “Submit Meal Plan Contract”.

Application Menu: 9. Roommate Profile -

If you would like to be included in the roommate searching process, complete the indicated fields. Select “save & continue”. If you are a new resident, you will be directed to the Application Status page that summarizes your steps. You will receive an email to your myLEO email within two business days. If you do not receive an email, please contact [email protected].

Application Menu: 10A. Roommate Request -

The program will suggest a few roommates based on your profiles.

You may search for a roommate based on the various criteria.

If you find someone you would like to room with, select “request” and a message through this system will be sent to the resident. If someone has requested you, you can view their information under “Requested Roommates” and can choose to “accept” the roommate.

Please note that accepted roommates will only be pulled into a room with you if the other bed is available.

Application Menu: 10B. Room Selection -

The specific contract you originally selected will determine the halls available. Each bed space available will be shown here. To see all open rooms do not select a location- click on search on the left bottom of the page.

To view the current occupant, select the “room details” listed to the right of the room number.

To learn about the current occupant(s), select the “view profile” located to the right of the occupant. This will list their answers to the profile questions as well as their email address. Once done viewing details, select the close icon at the top right corner to return to the previous screen. Click on the room of choice and once highlighted, select “save & continue”.

Most rooms or apartments have a bed or bedroom that correspond to A or B. Select one.

Due to the ability for multiple students being in the system at once, this screen has a 5 minute time limit. Select “reserve beds”.

Application Menu: 10C. Room Swap

Once you have selected a room, #10 becomes the Room Swap option. This option allows you to look at other rooms available without losing your current selection.

Room Swap works in the same fashion as Room Selection.

Highlight the room of interest, select “save & continue”, select view profile to view current occupant, and then select close icon.

If wishing to pursue a room swap, highlight the room desired, select “save & continue”. On the next page, choose the A or B room and then swap rooms. You can continue to use the Room Swap during the allotted time for your classification.

Application Menu: Application Status -

This page will display the standing and details of your application. You can return to this page at any time to determine your information or to receive contact information about roommates.
