How to Find a Hiker to Sponsor When You Don’t Have the Personal URL Step 1: Go to the link: http://chpca.convio.net/hike-marche or the link to the hospice provided to you by your local Hospice Organization or Hiker. IF YOU HAVE GONE DIRECTLY TO YOUR LOCAL HOSPICE’S ONLINE FUNDRAISING PAGE, PLEASE SKIP DOWN TO STEP #5 Step 2: Scroll to the bottom of the Page until you see the “Find an Event Near You” search function:

Step 3: Enter your criteria into the search function, or select “click here” for a full listing of events. Step 4: Select the hospice your hiker is participating with from the listing provided after Step 3. Step 5: You have now been redirected to the online fundraising website of your hiker’s local participating hospice organization.

2 Step 6: On the left hand side of the page you will see the following menu: Click here if you wish to make a donation directly to the hospice. You should only do this if you do not know anyone participating in the hike, but you still wish to make a donation.

You can search for the Name of the Hiker you want to Donate to. You can also Search for the Team that you would like to sponsor. You will need to select the appropriate tab corresponding to whether you are searching for a Participant or a Team. If you don’t know the name or team you are searching for you can leave the text boxes empty and click the magnifying glass to perform a search for all participants / teams.

3 Step 7: You will be directed to a page with a listing of hiker’s matching your search criteria.

When searching for a participant a listing of names will appear that match your search criteria. Click on the name of the hiker who you wish to donate to and you will be directed to their fundraising page.

When searching for a team a listing of team names will appear that match your search criteria. Click on the name of the team that you wish to donate to and you will be directed to the team fundraising page.

If the participant has a team and you would rather donate to the team, you can click on the name of the team instead.

Every team participant also has a personal page. If you wish for your donation to be attributed to a specific hiker and not to the team as a whole you should search for the participant or enter into the team page and follow the instructions on the following page.

All donations made to a personal page of a team member will also show up on the team page and will count towards the team’s goal.

Donating directly to the team will not attribute the donation to the hiker. Your donation will not appear on the hiker’s personal page, instead it will appear as a donation to the entire team on the team page.

Do You Know More than One Person on a Team and Can’t Decide who to Donate To? In the scenario listed above, you are best to make a donation to the team as a whole by going to the Team Page. This enables you as the donor not to have to make a choice between hikers when making a donation. Do You Know Who You Want Your Donation to Be Attributed to? Did someone you know solicit your donation and you want your donation to count towards their personal goal? You should donate to their personal page. Not to worry, your personal donation will also count towards the Team’s Goal!

If you have entered into the Team Fundraising Page, but wish to make a donation to an individual participant, you will be able to find a listing of all of the Team Members in the Team Roster.

If you have entered into a participant’s personal page, but wish to make a donation to a team instead, you will be able to find the team’s page listed just above the Personal Progress bar.

Click on the name of the Team Member that you wish to donate to and you will be routed to their personal page. Remember that all donations made to the individual will also help towards reaching the team’s goal.

Remember that donations made to a team do not count towards any individual’s personal goal. This is useful if you know several team members hiking for the same team and do not wish to donate to one specific person.

How to Donate to a Participant If you have been provided with a direct link to the participant’s personal or team page, you can either click on the link or copy and paste it into your browser to be able to skip Steps 1 – 7. If you have not been provided with a direct link to the participant’s personal or team page you will need to complete Steps 1-7.

Step 8: To make a donation to either a team or a personal hiker’s page you will click on the green “Donate Now” button and follow the onscreen instructions. You will be walked through the process of selecting an amount to donate and entering your credit card information. For helpful information on whether to donate to a team or an individual page, please review the information on Page 4 of this document.

When you have filled out the information, you will select the “Next” button to advance to the review phase of making a donation. If all of your information is correct you can submit the donation.

A tax receipt will be issued to you if your donation meets the minimum amount required by the hiker’s participating hospice organization. For further questions on donating or tax receipts, please contact the local hike hospice organization. A listing of phone numbers / email addresses can be found by going to the main page of the local hospice organization which can be accessed by selecting the “Home” Tab at the top of your hiker’s personal or team page.
