Introduction This application note will show you how to setup the WiFi Power Pack to use with Star Printers on a Windows. Depending on the application, further installation of printer drivers may be needed. I. WiFi Power Pack (TP-Link) Setup via WiFi 1.

Connect the TP-Link’s USB to an AC power supply or USB port of a Windows/Mac computer. Next, connect the TP-Link’s Ethernet cable to the 100/10 Base port on the printer. The printer should be power off.

Confirm the TP-Link has a solid green or blue light.

3. Click on WiFi icon on the lower right corner of your screen.

Application Note 4. Select Starwifi then wait for it to connect.

5. Type 192.168.0.254 in your Internet browser address bar.

6. It should prompt for authentication so please type the following:  User Name: admin  Password: admin

Application Note 7. The TP-Link greeting screen will appear.

8. Click on Quick Setup in the menu on the left side.

9. Click on Next button.

Application Note 10. Select Client (Client Mode) and click Next button.

11. Click on “Survey” button.

12. The AP List should appear. The SSID column lists the name of available networks. Find the network you wish to connect your printer to then click on Connect.

Application Note 13. Enter the password to the network then click on Next button.

14. Click on Reboot button.

15. A screen will appear so click on OK button.

Application Note 16. The TP-Link will restart.

17. Once completed, you will no longer be able to access the website (192.168.0.254)

18. Click on WiFi icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

19. Connect to your main network that you configure the WiFi Power to join previously. 20. Continue to “Static IP Address through telnet” on page 15.

Application Note II. WiFi Power Pack (TP-Link) Setup via Lan 1. Connect the TP_Link’s USB and Ethernet cable to the computer (Desktop or laptop).

2. Click on WiFi icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

3. Click on Open Network and Sharing Center.

Application Note 6. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP) then click on Properties.

7. Select Use the following IP Address and type in the following:  IP Address: 192.168.0.10  Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0  Default Gateway: 192.168.0.254

9. Click on Close.

23. Click on WiFi icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

24. Connect to your main network that you configure the WiFi Power to join previously. 25. Continue to “Static IP Address through telnet” on page 15.

III.

Static IP Address through telnet 1. Perform a self-test page, by turning off the printer, holding the FEED button in the front then turning the printer back on. Hold the FEED button until the printer starts to print. NOTE: For the SP700 hold the feed button until it beeps then release.

2. On the second page towards the bottom, the IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway will appear. (Your numbers may be different.)

Application Note 3. Click on Start button on the lower left corner of the screen.

4. Click on Control Panel.

5. Click on Programs.

Application Note 6. Click on Turn Windows feature on or off.

7. Make sure the Telnet Client is checked and click on OK.

8. Click the Start Button and type cmd in the search bar.

Application Note 9. Click cmd.exe

10. Type telnet IP_Address (the IP Address from the bottom of the second printout).

11. The window will appear asking for login information. Please type the following:  Login: root  Password: public

12. Type 1 and press enter.

14. Type the IP Address from the self-test page and press enter. (Your numbers may be different.)

Application Note 15. Type 2 then press enter. Next, type the Subnet Mask from the bottom of the self-test page and press enter. (Your numbers may be different).

16. Type 3 then press enter. Next, type the Default Gateway from the bottom of the self-test page and press enter. (Your numbers may be different).

Application Note 21. Should get a message similar to the one below:

22. The printer should have printed the printer’s static IP Address.

23. Once the self-test page prints then turn the printer off.

Application Note 24. Remove the USB cable from AC power supply, and plug it into DK-module. Then plug the DKModule into the DK port on the back of the printer.
