RCC-M Design and Construction Rules The RCC-M is a set of design and construction rules for mechanical components of PWR nuclear islands and primarily applies to safety class components. It is used by a number of countries outside the United States. These rules, in general, are imposed by regulation; however, the specific requirements are imposed by purchase order. Thus, it is used as a basis for contractual relations between Client and Supplier, and is accompanied by a list of components to which the RCC-M applies. The rules given in the RCC-M draw primarily on development work undertaken in France. Applications The RCC-M is applied to nuclear pressure components for a number of countries outside of the United States and is for use on mechanical components only. Client Industries Nuclear power plant designers, nuclear component fabricators/suppliers, nuclear power plant owners/operators (outside the U.S.) Services Provided HSB Global Standards can provide oversight and third party type surveillances required by RCC-M for nuclear components being delivered to any country except France. We can also act, with regulatory and jurisdictional approval, as a Surveillance Agent as defined in the RCC-M. Client Benefits For existing HSB Global Standards clients, this service allows the use of a single inspection agency for multiple needs work. Instead of having one agency for U.S. ASME work and one agency for RCC-M work, HSB Global Standards can be the single source for these needs. This allows a fabricator to work with a familiar agency and have some assurance of the cost of the service.
