What is Basic Blue? • Yale Educational Travel is pleased to provide opportunities for alumni seeking high quality but more affordable options for travel. Basic Blue Travel is not a “watered down” version of our traditional programs, but a comprehensive educational program including lectures and discussions with talented Yale faculty and local experts, providing a rich learning experience during the trip. Yale Faculty Ron Eyerman was born in New York City, but left the United States in 1979 to live in Sweden. He is a veteran of the Vietnam war and attended college on the G.I Bill. He holds a B.A. in social science from the New School for Social Research and a M.S. in Labor and Industrial Relations from the University of Oregon. He attained his Ph.D. from the University of Lund, Sweden in 1981. After holding professorships at Uppsala University and the University of Copenhagen, he began teaching at Yale in 2003. His talks will concern the contemporary culture and politics of The Netherlands, and he looks forward to discussion on these topics with alumni and Yale friends on the program. He will be joined by his wife, Johanna Esseveld, who is from The Netherlands. Photo this page: Kinderdijk’s authentic 18th-century windmills evoke Holland’s old-world charm.
