Program Overview The High Performance (HP) Grants are part of Gymnastics WA’s (GWA) overall commitment to developing and supporting coaches, officials, administrators and support personnel. HP grants offer a unique opportunity for key HP personnel and those within a HP pathway to establish personalised professional development plans, address succession planning and develop mentoring programs, through identified targeted education and training opportunities.

Eligibility It is essential that all applicants read the guidelines and associated materials to ensure they provide themselves with the best opportunity to be successful in receiving the grant. Applicants MUST: •

Reside in Western Australia.



Be actively working within in a GA recognised HP program, have current HP athletes within the HP pathway of your particular gymsport and/or



Applicant is applying to attend FIG Coaching Academy Level 2 or Level 3 course.



Be a coach, administrator, support personnel or official.



Be a current Technical Member and involved in an affiliated GWA club or the GWA community if applicant is a coach or official.



Be working towards an Advanced Silver Accreditation or have the equivalent, if a coach.



Have an Advanced accreditation as a minimum as an Official.

Submission Requirements and Further Information •

HP Grant applicants must submit a personal development plan as part of their application. This plan must outline the applicant’s planned professional development which he/she plans to gain as a result of this grant funding.



HP Grant applicants must identify and provide details of their ‘mentor/mentors’ who will provide support through the duration of this personal development plan.

Affiliation fees, meals, clothing and equipment will not be funded by the grant but can be included as a financial contribution by the individual/GA recognised HP program.



Applicants can have other funding for a project, such as Australian Sports Commission, Women in Sport, Gymnastics Australia, as long as there is no surplus income. This information must be declared within your application.



Applicants that have outstanding GWA grants or monies (of any form) will not be considered.



HP grants are not provided in retrospect.



HP grants will be paid to the applicant upon providing acquittal requirements at the conclusion of the project.



Management of all grants will be the responsibility of the individual. They must certify they have the capacity to manage, report on, provide the correct documentation and acquit the GWA grant as requested.



Applicants must be able to demonstrate sound governance, planning and a clearly defined development pathway.



All report schedule and tax invoices/receipts must be submitted to GWA within 30days of the completion of the project.



Applications can be received at any time during the 2015/2016 financial year however, the project must be completed within this time period.

Roles and Responsibilities Grant Applicant •

Commitment to complete grant project activities and objectives.



Present one professional development workshop at Gymnastics WA annual conference or an equivalent workshop.



Ensure Key Results Schedule and activities are completed as per grant agreement.



Complete reporting and submit to GWA within 30 days of project completion.



A GWA reimbursement form and all Tax invoices/receipts must be made out in the applicants name and submitted to Gymnastics WA in order to receive reimbursement of the grant money. o

For overseas expenditure, itemised receipts including the exchange rate at the time the expense was incurred are required. This is usually clearly displayed on credit card/bank statements.

Manage the grant’s promotion, application, selection processes.



Develop and implement selection panels, assessment tools and feedback mechanisms.



Liaise and assist with grant recipient.



Finalise all grants, reimburse and report.

Tips for a Successful Grants Application •

Read all material associated with this grant and have a complete understanding of the requirements.



Read the questions on the application form carefully and answer the questions stated.



Obtain confirmation from your mentor that you will be supported throughout the grant.

Steps in the Grants Process STEP 1

Read and understand all forms/assessment criteria etc.

STEP 2

Applicant to complete the application form and proposed personal development plan.

STEP 3

Applicant submits the application to GWA.

STEP 4

Applications will be assessed by the GWA selection panel. An interview may be requested with the applicant and their mentor.

STEP 5

Successful applicants will be ratified by the GWA Board.

STEP 6

Grants applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application.

STEP 7

Consultation will occur between successful recipients and GWA to determine final outcomes of grant and set project Key Results Schedule and project dates.

STEP 8

Grant agreement completed and project implemented.

STEP 9

Applicant submits project report, tax invoices/receipts and acquittal documentation to GWA for reimbursement and completion of grant.

Step 10

GWA checks off criteria and concludes grant.

Step 11

Applicants are reimbursed.

Selection Panel HP Grant Assessment Panel A panel consisting of the following: •

Two representatives from GWA (Gymsports Manager and Services and Development Manager or nominated GWA staff member where required)



A representative from DSR

This panel will review all applications and will recommend the successful recipients to GWA.
