5 Specifications of Uplink and Downlink SMS All SMS data length should be less than 140 bytes. All parameters can be configured through serial port or SMS: The serial port is mainly used for local configuration while SMS is mainly used for remote configuration. The SMS setting is illustrated as below:

The tree structure in the left includes all the node names and the corresponding phone numbers. If the SMS mode is selected, the messages should be sent according to the format as below: Header of SMS uplink frame + SMS content The SMS uplink frame starts like this: SMSsend13116742086F, among which SMSsend is the beginning, followed by 3-15 byte target phone number and ended up with F, and plus the content to be send. For example, to set the working mode of the data center, assume the password is “123456” and working mode “1”. Then format of SMS message is: SMSsend13116742086F*SET123456WKMD=1& Responding frame of server DTU for downlink data The frame header returned: SMSback13116742086F For example: SMSsend13116742086F*SET123456WKMD=1& Responding data:

Sent successful: SMSback13116742086Fsetok Sent failed: SMSback13116742086Fsetfaulure GSM closed: SMSbackGSMclosed

5.1 The DTU Formats of Downlink SMS message format mainly includes 4 types: reading format, setting format, special format and sending format. 5.1.1 SMS format outline SMS format setting: *+read-write operation+password of 6 digit +one or >one query items+&,the query items are separated with ‘#’. Starting symbols:

‘*’

Read-write operation: GET&SET 6 digit password: admin password is HTGPRS,initial password is 为 000000. One or >one query items: the parameters are separated with ‘#’. Ending symbol: ‘&’ After read-write success, a SMS will be returned. 5.1.2 SMS setting A SMS will be returned after successful setting For example: ① To set the IP address of data center, imagine the password is “123456”,IP address is 192.168.1.1,then the SMS format is : *SET123456DCIP=192168001001& ② To set the serial interface number of data center, imagine the password is‘123456’ , serial interface number is‘2008’ ,then the SMS format is: *SET123456DCPT=02008& ③ To set multiple data formats, imagine the password is “123456”,IP address is 192.168.1.1, the communication port number of data center is 2000,the APN is CMNET, heart beat cycle is 8, then the format is: *SET123456DCIP=192168001001#DCPT=02000#GAPN=CMNET#HBCY=5& 5.1.3 SMS Read

①To read the IP address and the communication port number of data center, imagine the password is‘123456’, the read format and returned SMS format are : Read: *GET123456DCIP& Responding: *GETDCIP=192168001001# ②To read multiple parameters, imagine the password is‘123456’ ,the read format and returned SMS format are : Read:*GET123456DCIP#DCPT#GAPN#HBCY& Responding

*GETDCIP=192168001001&DCPT=02000&GAPN=CMNET&HBCY=005# 5.1.4 Special command Re-link GPRS network command. *SET123456RLIK& Re-linked GPRS network command returned *SETOK#>>12345678RELIKING 5.1.5 Sending message The data sent is the data set in the textbox, either HEX or asc. SMSsend13116742086F123456789

6. DTU Software Management Workflow The PC software collects all the uploaded data and performs data analysis and exporting functions.

7. DTU Functions (optional) The GPRS function is optional to send the data to the target server. The cost will be comparatively lower especially for transmission of large data volume (SMS service is charged per message while GPRS is charged according to the data volume). The GPRS function is more complex and the battery consumption will be higher (More steps to access GPRS). The advantage is that large volume data can be sent (SMS can contain max 140 bytes while a GPRS packet length can be 1500 bytes at maximum)

8. Note DTU(full name: Data Transmission unit) DTU terminal ID: Set by user, the ID of the module SMS: Text message Working mode: SMS mode &GPRS(TCP,UDP)mode; In SMS mode, only SMS function supported.
