In November Cherwell School will be presenting our case for a single white line to be painted down Marston Ferry Road cycle track to Oxfordshire County Council; to improve safety by guiding riders to stay left. We need to provide sufficient evidence from the School and local community that there is a need for this. Cheerleading CONDITIONING is starting from this week. To be the best cheerleader possible you need to be fit, strong and flexible and have good stamina. We will be training you to do all of this every Tuesday in Gym 2 after school. Open to everyone although specialised to cheerleaders. Thursdays 3:10 – 4:30 in Gym1

KS3 Science Club: Hovercrafts

Cheerleading is for current members ONLY from now on. We will be working towards a routine that will be competition ready hopefully by February.

Find out how to make a hovercraft out of only blue-tac, a sports bottle top, a CD and a balloon. After making, we will have races to find out whose hovercraft is the best! Monday 3rd November – 3:15 – room 42

Year 7 Art Club Thursday - 3.15pm in room 30 New and old members welcome!

Key Stage 4/5 KS4/5 Art and Photography Artist Miranda Creswell is coming to speak about her art work on Tuesday the 4th of November at lunchtime. Currently she is a project artist working with archaeologists in Oxfordshire. All A Level Art and Photography students are expected to come, everyone welcome. 12.10 in Art 2. There will be cake! Bring your lunch!

Wellbeing opportunity - Tai Chi class at Cherwell A Chen style Tai Chi class run by Douglas from Oxford's Chen Academy will be starting again today in the north site hall at 7pm. All welcome. This is a fantastic wellbeing opportunity for promoting mental and physical wellbeing, including help deal with stress, physical balance and regulating blood pressure. This is an ancient Chinese exercise system that involves coordinating slow gentle movement with your breathing. Saying this, you know you have done a total work out by the end of the hour.

Home Work Club for KS4 Scholars Quick update, homework club for KS4 Scholars will now be taking place in SR3 rather than N5 in order to be closer to Ruth’s session and detentions. As before, they will still be taking place 3.10 – 4.00 Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Yr 11 German Students are preparing for their speaking exams in lessons this week. This is worth 15% of the total German GCSE exam. Exams take place on Monday 10th and Wednesday 12th November. Viel Glueck.

WIN WORK EXPERIENCE – YEARS 11-13 (AND EVERLASTING GLORY) As part of the Cherwell School’s new Alumni and Development venture, we are trying to get as many email and postal addresses for former students as possible—and you can help! The aim: To get as many alumni and leavers as possible in contact with the Alumni and Development Office before the Christmas holidays. What’s in it for you? Several Cherwell alumni who have already been in touch have generously offered one or two weeks of work experience to the winners of this competition. This will give you experience of high quality, interesting work in which you will be given genuine responsibility. Year 12 Geography Trip to North Wales 5-7 November 40 year 12 geographers will be in North Wales for a field trip from Wednesday 5th to Friday 7th November. Meeting at 7.15am in the sixth form centre on Wednesday 5th. Please remember to bring a picnic lunch and drink, warm layers, waterproofs, wellies/boots and any essential medicines. The finals will be held at the London Aquatic Centre- Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on the 22nd November 2014. Level 2 Cross Country- All cross country teams won their races beating Oxford Academy, Oxford Spires, St. Gregs and Cheney. All teams will progress to the level 3 County Cross Country Championships.
