SouthPark I Holiday Party Sunday, December 10 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm

We need volunteers for holiday setup and cleanup and the coveted volunteer role of judging of the holiday lights. Please click the Volunteer button on the home page of southparkhoa.com to sign up. Bring in the holiday on December 10 with a horse-drawn carriage ride around the neighborhood, lively music and festive cheer. And ho ho for the little ones, Santa will be here. Let’s come together as neighbors to cheer for a special time of year! Meet new neighbors, enjoy festive food, holiday jokes, and peace on SouthPark. Any household attending is asked to bring a food item to share. (Last names: A-I: dessert, J-R: main dish or heavy appetizer, S-Z: side dish.) Cocoa and cider will be provided, and feel free to bring your own adult beverage. Don’t forget to label your dishes. See you there!

GO ALL OUT With Holiday Decorating This Year!

The highly anticipated annual lights contest will be held again this year, so let’s give the Social Committee and volunteer judges a show. This year, judges will be touring the homes and townhouses of SouthPark during the week of December 3. So if you want to be considered for the contest, have your lights on and home decorated by 12/3! If you hear the jingle bells of our judging elves, be sure to peek out and say hello, we’d love to share in your holiday fare. Judges may or may not be swayed by holiday treats. The chosen winners will be awarded the same night as the judging so we can photograph the homeowners WITH their home. Winner’s names will be posted at the holiday party along with pictures of the winning homes. Here are this year’s decorating categories: “Best Traditional Lights” (white and/or colored), “Best Contemporary Lights” (digital, inflatables) and “Best Holiday Spirit.” — Brought to by the Social Committee: Dolds, Haskells, Hays, Rooses, Zichtermans

President Announces New Board, Dues Increase

We had our annual SouthPark HOA meeting and here is a summary of how it went. First, we approved our budget with a $9/month increase. The additional funds will go towards landscaping and project improvements such as path repair/maintenance. Next, we held an election for two open board positions. Dawn Zilch ran again for an additional term and won. We welcome her back! And Kevin Gzym won the second available position - welcome, Kevin! continued on page 3

Charity of the Month

Amidst all the turmoil in our world, a little good can go a long way. With that in mind, this newsletter will highlight a different charity each month. If you have a charity you would like considered for inclusion, please email details to [email protected]. Denver Rescue Mission – Founded in 1892, the Mission is the oldest, full-service, faith-based non-profit organization serving the poor and homeless in the Rocky Mountain region. The Mission has four core strategies for addressing homelessness: emergency services, rehabilitation, transitional programs and community outreach. Through meals, shelter, restroom and shower access, health services, and laundry facilities our homeless neighbors who are struggling can access these basic services. The Mission’s New Life Program is offered for men and women to overcome addictions and hardships. For working individuals and families experiencing homelessness the Mission offers a transitional program as well as mentoring programs to help them reach self-sufficiency. Lastly, people who are struggling to put food on the table and pay bills can utilize community outreaches including a food pantry, clothing, furniture, diapers and hygiene distribution. For more information on how you can help, call (303) 297-1815 or visit denverrescuemission.org.
