at the Syrian Orthodox Church headed by HE Metropolitan Malki Malki. The celebration of the Syrian Church was on Wednesday 25 March 2015. Each of the Churches shared in the celebration with a prayer, a Hymn or a reading from the holy Gospel. Metropolitan Danial Yacoub read verses from the Epistles of St Paul, and Metropolitan Robier Rabatt read the Gospel of the Annunciation. HG Bishop Daniel gave a spiritual sermon about the Feast of Annunciation. A choir of Deacons lead by Rev Fr. Sharobium chanted Coptic tunes for our Church traditions. It was a lovely spiritual celebration, conducted in brotherly love and attended by many Christians from different domination.

HOW TO READ THE BIBLE All Scripture is given by inspiration of God (2 Tim. 3:16) “If an earthly king, our emperor,” wrote Saint Tikhon of Zadonsk (1724-83), “wrote you a letter, would you not read it with joy? Certainly, with great rejoicing and careful attention.” But what, he asks, is our attitude toward the letter that has been addressed to us by no one less than God Himself? “You have been sent a letter, not by any earthly emperor, but by the King of Heaven. And yet you almost despise such a gift, so priceless a treasure.” To open and read this letter, Saint Tikhon adds, is to enter into a personal conversation face-to-face with the living God. “Whenever you read the Gospel, Christ Himself is speaking to you. And while you read; you are praying and talking to Him.”

“WHY A MONASTERY IN SYDNEY?” Compiled By Bishop Anba Daniel.

1St Shenouda Monastery was established by the great efforts of Late H H Pope Shenouda 111, back in 1993. Since then it had been serving the Church Families and the young people of Australia. The Monastic life at our blessed Monastery began in 1995 by two blessed and honoured Monks from Egypt, and has since then, attracted a number of Australian born and raised Monks who chose this holy and sanctified way of living. 2Over this great period of time , St Shenouda Monastery had stablished itself as a hub for many Church Camps, family day visitations and youth retreats, receiving many Visitors from around Australia and all over the World as well as non-Coptic new Comers. 3During these Visitations and Retreats, People come in search of Peace, Tranquillity and a Quiet time to spend with God. The Monastery has always been a source of Blessings and Benefit to All those who visit. 4We are not only us the Monks that enjoy being in this beautiful Monastery of St Shenouda, but also many other types of Visitors that come and benefit immensely from just being there. 5The Monastery welcomes and serves all age Groups in many different ways: 6The Monastery welcomes School Kids whom they spend a full day with the Fathers. 7The Monastery welcomes all Youth for regular spiritual Retreats and Conferences. 8The Monastery welcomes and support the Deacons with their Hymn lessons.

6

We thank God on every occasion for giving us the opportunity to live in such a beautiful Monastery and blessing us with daily Visitors both frequent and infrequent. 9The Monastery welcomes and meet with Sunday School Teachers and Youth Leaders. 10The Monastery welcomes and serves those with special needs as much as possible. 11The Monastery welcomes and serves all Ladies & Elderly Groups. 12The Monastery welcomes and serves our beloved “The Christian Bikies”. 13The Monastery’s Gate is always open from 7am-7pm, where we welcome and serve all the Tourists the By-Passers that enter and find love and hospitality by the Fathers. 14The Monastery helps all that get stuck on the Road. 15The Monastery publish a Monthly Newsletter for the Youth called “Pimonakhos” which means “The Monk” and is sent online by Emails to nearly 3000 People. All are welcome. 16The Monastery is very keen and active in translating and publishing the most influential, spiritual and good Arabic Books, into English, so the Youth can benefit from it. 17The Monastery is encouraging many Youth who have Talents in writing Christian Songs and others who can Compose Music to these Songs, through Competitions

and Prices. 18The Monastery is a source of spiritual Guidance and Christian teachings to many of our Neighbours (Non Coptic) who joined the Church and become one in the Body of Christ. 19The Monastery welcomes, accommodates and trains all newly ordained Priests of the Diocese, to come and spend their 40 Days with the Monks.

Today, as our Visitor numbers increase, we find a great need to develop bigger Facilities to enable us to continue to serve our ever –growing Congregation, especially those who attend on special Feast Days and events which are regularly held at the Monastery in big numbers. 1For all these reasons, we come up with the idea of having a bigger Church that can accommodate 500 people, and a Bigger Services-Building which includes a big Dining Room with a big Kitchen, a Bookshop, a Canteen, Offices, Lounges and lots of facilities and amenities, to further enhance the wellbeing of all types of Visitors, as well as The Monastic & Spiritual life of

our present and future Monks. 2This Project will be a great addition to our blessed Churches in Australia, and will serve the many Generations to come. This Project has been blessed and approved by late H H Pope Shenouda 111. For further information and pictures, please visit our Website: (www. stshenoudamonaster y.org. au). 3We need all your support, contributions and Donations so to construct such a big Project. 4This big Project needs consistent income to ensure available Funds. So to enable you to do that, you can do it through “The Bank Direct Debit System”. The Bank will withdraw direct from your Account straight to the Monastery Account, the amount you want to donate weekly or monthly. 5To obtain the Forms of the “Direct Debit” you can download it from the Monastery Website shown above. After filling these Forms, you send/post it to the Monastery address: P O Box 292.Windsor.NSW.2756. Or email it to: ([email protected]. au). 6Also you can get the blessings in sharing with this Project, by sending your Donations direct to the Monastery Account: “The Coptic Orthodox St Shenouda Monastery Trust building Fund” Westpac Bank: BSB: 032274.
