GLOBAL LIGHT RAIL PROJECTS REPORT 2017 Light rail (also known as the tram, tramway, streetcar, light rapid transit or LRT) continues to gain popularity as an environmentally sustainable and costeffective solution for public transportation in cities facing problems of pollution and traffic congestion. As an alternative to heavy rail and bus-based systems, light rail provides a broad range of applications and offers favourable ratio between costs and performance. The light rail system is versatile and adaptable. Given the flexibility in its design, it can be modified for requirements such as accessibility (low-floor boarding), catenary-free power supply (aesthetic looks), integration with commuter rail (tram-train for regional rail service), etc. The basic idea behind modern light rail system is to combine the advantages of street and railway-based transport systems for providing the desired performance at a reasonable cost. Light rail projects present opportunities for infrastructure and technology providers in laying of tracks and power supply systems as well as supply of rolling stock, ticketing, communications and train control systems. In addition, there are opportunities for consultants and service providers under the various stages of project implementation from conceptualisation to start of operations. The Global Light-Rail Projects Report 2017 provides updated information on 108 light rail projects from 40 countries. It presents the key information required to assess investment opportunities in the development of new systems, extension and upgrade of existing systems, rolling stock procurement and renewal, power and communication systems upgrades, and fare collection automation. The report will be useful to organisations interested in the global light-rail industry - government agencies, transport authorities, operators, service and technology providers, equipment manufacturers and suppliers, EPC contractors, investors/lenders, research organisations, industry consultants, regulatory agencies, development institutions, etc. The report will be provided in PowerPoint presentation format and is expected to be released on February 28, 2017. The report is priced at USD 4,000. There are special 'Early Bird' discounts. The price of the report will be USD 3,000 before January 9, 2017 and USD 3,500 before January 31, 2017. The report is available at a special price of USD 3,500 for Public Transport Authorities/Agencies. For these buyers, the price of the report will be USD 2,625 before January 9, 2017 and USD 3,062 before January 31, 2017.
