Many artists, both German and international, such as John Lennon of the Beatles and Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones helped to make Framus a world renown trade mark. After its demise in the late 1970s Framus virtually disappeared. But in1995 the brand celebrated a comeback within the business concept of Warwick Germany - FRAMUS IS BACK! Today the guitars & amplifiers that make up the Framus catalogue are building an iconic reputation amongst guitar players and music lovers. In just over a decade since the re-launch of the brand it has grown to a position of strength in the market. Warwick & Framus is turning GREEN. They have turned to Solar Energy to POWER their world renowned Guitar and Bass Making business! After commissioning the solar heating system in the 2007 Warwick is strongly endorsing alternative fuels and continues to be supporters of environmental protection. Company boss Hans-Peter Wilfer explains: “We are completely self-sufficient in terms of our energy consumption. For our heating needs we use our sawdust and wood waste exclusively, and all our buildings and pipelines were duly insulated at great expense. In the last year we have installed solar arrays on the roof. That covers our complete electrical energy requirements. And: The excess of about 20 -35% is fed into the local network making our entire city very enviro friendly.This is great news for Warwick and Framus and offers musicians around the world a carbon offset option!”

Saturday July 21st saw the Warwick & Framus company celebrate 60 years of the Framus brand by opening a dedicated museum in Warwick’s adopted hometown of Markneukirchen Germany. 300 dignitaries, musicians, and press, as well as the staff of the Warwick Framus operation from all over the world were present to watch Warwick’s owner, Hans-Peter Wilfer, his wife, Florence, and the Mayor of Markneukirchen, KarlHeinz cut the ribbon on the beautifully restored mansion that is now home to all things historically Framus. The vintage instrument collection covers the enormous cross-section of what Framus manufactured from 1946 to 1975 under the control of Wilfer’s father, Fred. The Musuem is a must see for any Musician. Over 500 instruments, amplifiers and accessories are displayed in a state of the art temperature controlled musuem. The opening of the museum was timed to coincide with the publication of a history of Framus, “Built in the Heart of Bavaria” by Dr Christian Hoyer. Furnished up with numerous pictures and photos, this book is not only describing the life’s work of Fred Wilfer but also documents a piece of European Music history. Over 3 years of research and writing the author of this book, Dr. Christian Hoyer, and the Framus vintage expert Volkmar Rudolph have put together photos, stories and anecdotes, in order to consistently present the history of the once biggest European manufacturer of music instruments from 1946 to 1977. An Amazing Coffee table book for any musician and instrument lover. It contains photos of amazing instruments and artists from the Stones to Jazz Legend Attila Zoller and all stops in between.
