FDF40110 Certificate IV in Food Processing COURSE DESCRIPTION The Certificate IV in Food Processing provides the competencies required by advanced food processing workers who use a range of equipment and provide support and supervisory functions directly related to food processing. They would undertake more advanced roles than workers with a Certificate III in Food Processing, working in accordance with operating procedures and applying knowledge to anticipate problems and solve a range of foreseen and unforeseen problems This qualification is designed for use across food processing sectors such as: •

Grain processing (including stockfeed, animal feeds, milling wheat, barley, oats and flour milling)



Beverages (including juices, soft drinks, cordials, aerated and still waters, energy drinks and other modified beverages, such as vitamin and antioxidant beverages, coffee, tea and ice)



Confectionery



Dairy processing



Fruit and vegetables



Grocery products and supplies (including honey, jams, spreads, sauces, dressings, condiments, spices, edible oils and fats and pasta)



Poultry

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS There are no entry requirements for FDF40110 Certificate IV in Food Processing DURATION The duration for FDF40110 Certificate IV in Food Processing is 1,060 hours delivered over 104 weeks but may vary based on: • customisation and employment outcome for elective units of competency selected • employee available release time per week for work place training • submission of evidence for RPL or Credit Transfer EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES Graduates at this level can perform supervisory or middle management roles within food processing environments that require technical skill and knowledge to: • Solve food production problems

CUSTOMISATION Pivotal Training and Development understands the philosophy that training should be tailored to suit individual client’s business objectives. Therefore, Pivotal Training and Development can customise the elective units of competency to suit prospective client’s specific industry requirements. Customisation may result in changes to the duration required to complete the qualification. DELIVERY LOCATIONS Certificate IV in Food Processing can be delivered in the following locations: • Workplace • Pivotal Training and Development • Pivotal Training and Development arranged – external venue DELIVERY STRUCTURE Training is delivered through flexible work based training & assessment including group sessions, one to one delivery and work station observation. This may include: •

Face to Face instruction in a designated quiet area



Practical demonstration in their work area as required



Mentoring as required



Component of self-paced study (as required) and



Workplace supervision

ASSESSMENTS Students will be assessed using relevant assessment methods for each unit which includes but is not limited to the following: • Short Answer Assessment Questions* • Practical demonstration/ observation • Project Task • Portfolio of evidence – workplace documents • Third Party report * • indicates essential evidence of completing a work based training

Assessment is conducted at the following session to which the training has been conducted allowing the participant to carry out tasks directly related to the unit of competency studied and the supervisor to adequately observe the student in depth during this time period. RESOURCE REQUIREMENTS Students are provided with the following: • Student Guides • Student Assessments EXIT POINT/AWARD Students that successfully complete all 22 units of competency as stated in the Course Structure will be issued with a certificate for FDF40110 Certificate IV in Food Processing by Pivotal Training and Development. This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). Fees are not levied for credit transfer applications or transition for superseded qualifications. Pivotal Training and Development reserves the right for potential fees to change during the course of study and will provide advice to students in advance. Instalments

Fees may be paid in 10 equal instalments of $1,198 All overdue fees are to be paid before a statement of attainment / certificate is issued.

Payment Options

Fee for Service Payment Plan Available This option is available in some circumstances and must be negotiated with Pivotal prior to the administrative date. A deposit of $500 per study session is payable before the administration date. Full payment must be made by the end of the teaching period for which the student is enrolled.

Payment Methods

Pivotal Training and Development accepts the following payment methods for up-front fees: Payment plans can be negotiated with Pivotal accounts department and can be fulfilled in the following way: 1. Cheque or money order 2. Credit card (not Amex or Diners Club) 3. Bank deposit Students will be liable for any bank fees and charges associated with dishonoured cheques, credit cards or bank transfers.

REFUND INFORMATION

The following refund policy conditions will apply: 1. Students who give notice to cancel their enrolment more than 10 days prior to the commencement of a program will be entitled to a full refund of fees paid 2. Students who give notice to cancel their enrolment less than 10 days prior to the commencement of a program will be entitled to a 75% refund of fees paid 3. The amount retained (25%) by Pivotal Training & Development is required to cover the costs of staff and resources which will have already been committed based on the students initial intention to undertake the training

4. Students who cancel their enrolment after a training program has commenced will not be entitled to a refund of fees.
