Family Classes & Programs FREE Family Art Days Saturdays: Sept. 10, Oct. 8, Nov. 12 and Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. - noon. Because of the wonderful response, we must limit participation to 30 people (children and families). Pre-register on-line or by calling the Arts Center. An exciting new series integrating our love of nature, our precious Delmarva environment, and the arts. We will explore a variety of themes and techniques. Your family can get together to make fun art to take home. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Program made possible by a grant from the PNC Foundation.

Free Event Oil Painting for Beginners and Beyond ~ Free Demonstration ursday, Sept. 8 from 5:30 - 8 p.m. Instructor: Kathi Stevens Want to learn how to paint with oil but don't know where to start? is event will demonstrate the nofear weekly classes in beginner oil painting Kathi gives. She will guide you step-by-step on what material to use, the importance of your sketch, composition. Bring your own reference material to paint from. Free for Art League members and non-members

12th Annual Sand Castle Home Tour Thursday & Friday, September 22 -23, 2016 ~ 9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. A self-guided tour of 10 fabulous area homes e tour — chaired by Maryland’s First Lady Yumi Hogan — includes a variety of homes from oceanfront to bayside to family homes to penthouses and beach retreats. It benefits the non-profit Art League of Ocean City that operates the Ocean City Center for the Arts and its community programs. Tickets include a guidebook, driving directions and special offers. Volunteer docents guide the guests through the homes. Guests are encouraged to purchase tickets early as a limited number are available. Adult Painting Classes Oil Painting for the Intermediate Painter Wednesdays: Sept. 21, Sept. 28, Oct. 5, Oct. 19 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Instructor: Leslie Belloso Learn by painting with Leslie how to approach your work from your composition and effects of color, edges and contrast to your finished painting. You will learn by painting from life, still life, figure and plein air if weather permits. During the last 30 minutes, Leslie will critique everyone’s work. Improve Your Painting for Intermediate Painters in All Media ursday, Sept. 15 from 5:30 - 8 p.m. Instructor: David Simpson For intermediate painters who want some independent instruction on their own current work. Individualized instructions with the opportunity to relax and paint and socialize with fellow painters. Cost: $30 for Art League members, $38 for non-members

Screen Painting in the Baltimore Row House Style Friday, Oct. 21 from noon - 3 p.m. Instructor: John R. Iampieri is 102-year-old art form is often overlooked due to its blue collar origins in Baltimore’s row house neighborhoods. You will learn the history, tools and techniques to successfully paint on a window screen. Students will paint on their own individual framed screens, using high quality vinyl screens along with all paints and materials included. e screen will be on a 14x18” wooden frame, and you can take your finished piece home with you on the end of this workshop. Cost: $40 for Art League members, $50 for non-members plus $10 material fee paid to instructor

Figure Study for Paintings ursday, Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Instructor: Debra Howard Learn how to incorporate people and animals into your landscape or interior paintings. rough a combination of a Powerpoint presentation and live models (man and dog), students will learn how to quickly capture a moving figure into a painting or sketch. Debra will show you that less is more, that details are not only not necessary but detract from the spontaneity of your painting or sketch. Painters in all media are welcome. Intro to Silk Painting ~ Create a Sun Catcher Monday, Nov. 14 from 4 - 7 p.m. Instructor: Melinda Taylor With just one class, you’ll learn the serti silk painting technique using waterbased resist and jacquard dyes on 8mm habotai silk pre-mounted on 9”round hoops. You’ll choose a design provided or create your own and walk away with your own gorgeous sun catcher creation. You’ll even have a chance to get a little salty, if you wish, by creating special effects. Cost: $30 for Art League members, $38 for non-members plus $10 material fee paid to instructor

Multi-Day Workshops in 2016 Eastern Shore Watercolors Monday - Tuesday, Sept. 19 - 20 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Instructor: Willie Crockett Best known for his wildlife art, Willie transmits to his paintings a fresh view of the Eastern Shore landscape, the wildfowl and the marsh. An occasional, easy transition into colorful abstracts and flowers speaks for the versatility of the painter and the sensitivity of the man. Cost: $120 for Art League members, $150 for non-members

Creative Design in Mixed Media ~ From Nature to Abstraction Friday - Saturday, Sept. 30 - Oct. 1 from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Instructor: Angela Herbert-Hodges Angela will teach you to use your imagination and creativity in your design/painting so every student discovers their artistic potential by working on an unfinished painting or collage, and adding color and collage material to the piece. Plein Air Oil Painting Saturday - Sunday, Oct. 8 - 9 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Instructor: Kirk McBride How to organize yourself, your painting gear and your thoughts to make plein air more enjoyable. Kirk will do demos and work with students on developing a system. We will meet at the Arts Center and then paint outdoors nearby areas (weather permitting). Material list provided upon registration. The Dog and Cat in Art ~ Demo in oil but all media welcome Wednesday - ursday, Oct. 26 - 27 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Instructor: Lynne Lockhart We will cover general anatomy, proportion, motion and expression and how to take and use photos. Students should bring photos, camera, iPad, paint equipment and a sketch book. A trip to the Humane Society may be included where students could take photos. All levels, beginners encouraged. Approaching the Landscape ~ All media Tuesday - Wednesday, Nov. 1 - 2 from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Instructor: Tinsel Hughes Designed to give you the tools and information needed to create a successful painting: underpainting, designing your composition, spacial division, center of interest, color, value relationships, shadows, hard and soft edges, and creating depth in your painting. Color Theory for Dynamic Landscapes in Oil and Acrylics Friday - Saturday, Nov. 18 - 19 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Instructor: Debra Howard At the end of this workshop you will have mastery over the colors and brushwork that you want for your landscape. With color theory and a limited palette, you will learn to reproduce the exact color that you want to apply to your canvas. Debra will teach the power of contrast and confident brush work to create drama in your paintings. Bring your own materials. Cost: $160 for Art League members, $200 for non-members
