xtensive testing is performed on each run of flooring including the following: 1. The Nickel Test. Used to subjectively gauge overall film toughness. Rating scale 0-10, with 10 being highest score and indicative of a film that shows no damage from the scrape.

2. Cross Sectional Test. A grid is cut into the finish then an adhesive tape is applied and removed to check for 100% adhesion. 3. Film Weight Test. The thickness of each coat of finish is measured with a precision balance. The Bellawood total thickness is 3.5 mils, over 50% thicker than industry standards. 4. Gloss Test. The percentage of gloss, to ensure uniform gloss level.

T

aber Testing

Taber Testing is an abrasion testing method that was designed to measure the abrasion resistance of protective floor finishes. Flooring squares are secured to a turntable that is a weighted wheel covered with sandpaper. The turntable is rotated, causing the sandpaper to wear against the finish. Each full revolution of the turntable is counted as a Taber cycle. The number of rotations it takes the sandpaper to get through the finish becomes the ISP Taber Rating for that finish.

The samples submitted were tested in triplicate according to principles of ASTM D 4060. This evaluation was conducted with S-42 abrasive strips affixed to S-32 rubber wheels which were changed every 500 cycles and between sample change–overs. Each wheel was loaded with a 500 gram weight. Case Consulting Lab – Whippany, N.J.

T

ypes of Installation

With pre-finished Bellawood hardwood, installation is fast, clean, dust-free and doesn’t produce vapors or require time to cure. There’s no more time-consuming sanding or varnishing, just install and enjoy. The Bellawood product is 3/4” or 3/8” solid, tongue and groove, random lengths (up to 82 inches), pre-finished hardwood strip flooring. Bellawood is generally nailed to a sub-floor that should be constructed of 5/8” or thicker plywood. In addition, the 3/8” solid wood flooring can be installed over concrete.
