Europäische Kunststoffindustrie: optimistisch trotz schwieriger Herausforderungen

S

trenge Sparmaßnahmen in zahlreichen Ländern haben sich auf Investitionen in Bauprojekte ausgewirkt; die Verbraucher kaufen weniger Neufahrzeuge als früher; kleinere, erschwinglichere Produkte, die sich nach wie vor gut verkaufen – z. B. Smartphones und Tablets – werden außerhalb Europas hergestellt. Stark bleibt Europa bei der Entwicklung, Produktion und Anwendung von Hochleistungskunststoffen. Der Abschwung in der Automobilindustrie hat beträchtliche Auswirkungen auf die Lieferkette. 2013 könnte die Automobilproduktion in Westeuropa um bis zu 8,5 % sinken. Dies wird sich voraussichtlich auch negativ auf das Geschäft der Hersteller von Kunststoffteilen auswirken. Eine Ausnahme von diesem Trend scheint Großbritannien zu bilden.

Die IK weist auch darauf hin, dass Verpackungshersteller nach wie vor mit steigenden Rohstoff- und Energiepreisen

But Europe continues to be strong in development, production and use of performance plastics. The downturn in the European automobile industry has important consequences in the supply chain. Automotive production in Western Europe could fall by as much as 8.5% in 2013. This is likely to affect business and investments at plastics component suppliers. An exception to this trend does appear to be the UK. “The UK automotive industry has benefited from investments in new generations
