Project Information Title: European Food Safety Training Project Number: 2013-1-RO01-LEO05-28756 Year: 2013 Project Type: Transfer of Innovation Status: running Country: RO-Romania Marketing Text: European Food Safety Training was a vocational e-learning training program which aimed: • To develop learning tools by which students and young workers would acquire the key competencies in the VET field of food services and food industry • To develop key competencies and professional building through training seminars and lessons for companies and schools (teachers and students) in the field mentioned above • To improve the quality of food safety training by providing accurate and effective learning materials • To increase the motivation for professional development in students, young workers and teachers, by offering them an accessible, free, updated learning tool • To reduce food safety risks all along the food chain by providing these innovative and up to date learning tools • To transfer the result of the project at EU level • To provide an e-learning system, with a perspective of future certification and qualification recognition in EU

Summary: The objective of the European Union's food safety policy is to protect consumer health and interests. The existing education systems in EU are in need of innovative learning tools, in order to provide a quality training of future staff, from food sector, to be able to put European food safety policy into practice. Our project aimed to meet this need. European Food Safety Training is a vocational elearning training program which aimed: -To develop learning tools by which students and young workers would acquire the key competencies in the VET field of food services and food industry -To develop key competencies and professional building through training seminars and lessons for companies and schools (teachers and students) in the field mentioned above -To improve the quality of food safety training by providing accurate and effective learning materials -To increase the motivation for professional development in students, young workers and teachers, by offering them an accessible, free, updated learning tool -To reduce food safety risks all along the food chain by providing these innovative and up to date learning tools -To transfer the result of the project at EU level -To provide an e-learning system, with a perspective of future certification and qualification recognition in EU For this purpose learning tools of high quality that already exist in Belgium were transferred to other EU member countries participating in the project. The consortium was made of 11 partners, from 4 countries, and included VET schools, university, unemployment agency and professional associations, all of them acting or being related to the field of food industry, food safety, hotels and restaurants. 3 training modules were developed, based on the material already made by Belgian partners: Level 1:Basic knowledge of food safety for students and workers in the food industry, kitchens and restaurants; Level 2:Advanced knowledge of food safety for students and workers in food industry, kitchens and restaurants; Level 3:Introduction to HACCP and setting up a food safety plan based on HACCP. The content, accompanied by assessments and practical application, were transferred into an e-learning system as a teaching tool in vocational training.

Project Information This innovative learning tool is available in English and in the languages of participant countries, but also in German and Hungarian due to the multicultural and pluri-linguistic area of the Romanian partner. These outcomes facilitate the development of a network of teachers, trainers and specialists in food service and food industry. This will also contribute to the creation of a unitary medium of qualification (due to a future integration of the course in the curriculum of vocational schools from EU) and training at national and international level. On long term, it will facilitate the transfer of work labour within the European labour market. Description: Pour pouvoir réaliser tout cela, on va faire le transfert des outils de très haut niveau, qui existent déjà en Belgique, à tous les pays membres de l’EU, pays qui participent à ce projet. L’alliance est formée de 11 partenaires, de 4 pays, et on y comprend aussi les écoles VET, les universités, les agences d’emploi et les associations professionnelles, tous ceux qui sont impliqués travaillent dans ce domaine ou ont des liaisons avec l’industrie alimentaire, la sécurité des aliments, avec l’hôtellerie at avec les restaurants restaurants. On va dérouler 3 modules de formation, qui auront comme support les matériels dressés par les partenaires de Belgique et aussi les matériels réalisés dans le cadre d’un projet Comenius antérieurement: Niveau 1: Connaissances de base dans le domaine de la sécurité des aliments, pour les étudiants et pour les employés du domaine alimentaire, des cuisines et des restaurants; Niveau 2: Connaissances avancés dans le domaine de la sécurité des aliments, pour les étudiants et pour les employés du domaine alimentaire, des cuisines et des restaurants; Niveau 3: Introduction en HACCP et dresser un plan de sécurité alimentaire ayant à la base le HACCP. Le contenu, joint aux décisions et aux applications pratiques, sera transféré à un système elearning comme un outil d’apprentissage pour la formation vocationnelle. Cet outil innovateur d’apprentissage sera disponible en anglais et aussi dans les langues des pays participants, mais aussi en allemand et en hongrois, dû aux régions multiculturelles et multilinguistiques du partenaire Roumain. Tout cela va faciliter le développement d’un réseau d’enseignants, des formateurs et des spécialistes dans le domaine alimentaire et dans l’industrie alimentaire aussi. Ce projet va contribuer aussi à la création d’un environnement moyen des qualifications (dû à une intégration prochaine de ce cours dans le cadre du curriculum pour les écoles vocationnelles de l’EU) et d’une formation disponible au niveau national et international. Pour une période très longue, ce projet va faciliter le transfert de ce type de travail sur le marché du travail dans toute l’Europe.
