Europe: Unity And Diversity Polish – German Exchange Program supported by Polish – German Youth – Work (Deutsch-Polnischen Jugendwerk) Saturday, 30th of September – Saturday, 7th of October 2006 in Krakow/Poland Partners: Stowarzyszenie Teatralno – Lingwistyczne in cooperation with XXVII Lyceum in Kraków Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Jugend und Film Niedersachsen (Association of film-clubs in Lower Saxonia, Germany) Polish group: four students of XXVII Lyceum, Kraków, manager Wiesław Danielec and Łukasz Zych German group: two youngsters of different amateur theatre-groups from Oldenburg, one student, one unemployed, manager Jürgen Fiege Formal structure of the conference: three days of preparation, one day of presentation, one day of reflection Main • • • • •

topics, each in comparison of Poland and Germany Family and religion School and religion Minorities and tolerance Music and youth-subculture Politics and governments

Methods: • Open discussions of different subjects as i.e. education, family, religious tolerance, tolerance at school, religion and school, “blockers” and subculture in suburbs, intolerance towards different nations. Politics and government in Poland and Germany. Information on special facts on those subjects. • Summery of the different subjects • Forming small groups according to the different subjects preparing the presentation • Presentation of the results of the conference in XXVII Lyceum in Kraków Experimental character of the program: first attempt to establish such program in the following years as part of the bi-national exchange Program besides the main subjects: Sight-seeing-tour in Krakow old city. Sight-seeing-walk in Kazimierz with special information on Judaism (Popper-, Remuh-synagogue, Jewish cemetery, Tempel). Sight-seeing-walk in Podgórze \ former Jewish ghetto and Płaszów \ former concentration camp, visit of the museum “The Eagle” and former Schindler-Factory. Visit of Kościuszko-Hill, information on Polish history. Informal meetings of Polish and German participants in clubs.
