Dear Thomas So good to hear from you, though very sorry to hear about your separation. At least you are in touch with your girls. For us old people these days , flying is far from "cool". More a less a nuisance and somehow quite tiring. So we do not travel much at all - just enjoy our nice home here and our summer home in Vermont, where we will go on June 15. The 150th seemed to generate a lot of publicity, most amazing the articles in our TIMES newspaper which I am sure will end up in a boos of some "rind.

So glad to hear that things are going well in your most important city - even deep black on service. This is a. special complent to your good management . Very best to you for continued success . And Polly sends her very best also.

Mr. Henry Z. Steinway Steinway Hall 109 West 57th Street NY 10019 New York City U.S.A. May 19th 2004 /TKM

thank you for the g reetin g s Thomass Kurrer forwarded to me. How are you and your wife? I often thinking about you both. It would be so nice to show you Steinway-Haus in Munich but I understand that this long journey is to much for you. You will be always here by hanging in the entrance area (your lovely painting I got from Dan) . Springtime in Munich is very nice, the view to the mountains where is still snow on the top and here nice temperatures, good for sitting in a "beergarden" under green trees in the sunshine witch your grandfather William also liked so very much. Evelin an me are separated since one year. This is really a sad story but I'm glad that Lisa is with me in Munich. She studies the publishing business an will finish in two years. Charlotte is still with her mother in Berlin but comes to see us every month by flight witch is "cool" for a teenager. Last year was very busy for you while the 150th anniversary was going on. I thought you an Polly liked it but it also was a bit to much stress - am I right? Last year we had a very good performance in Munich by increasing Steinway and Boston sales. Also the service department worked very good and makes deep black figures. Piano-Lang turned now completely to Steinway-Haus and also the mind of my staff has now lyras in it. It was nice for me meeting you last June in New York. The picture of you an me is hanging in my apartment to remind me all the time. Mr. Steinway I hope to see you soon and send you my warmest regard, also to your wife - take care!

Dear Mrs. Steinway, Dear Mr. Steinway,

I hope you both feel good! This year the Christmas season is something special because of September 11th. I always remembering your visit in Berlin so you both will be always in my mind. In Munich it is today very cold, we are having snow and only minus 18 degrees Celsius. I am still traveling to Berlin on the weekends. Maybe there is no possibility to change with Evelin and the girls. The prices for a house or an apartment in Munich are more than double than in Berlin. The school systems are totally different, and it is forbidden by law for us to sell or hire our house in Berlin before June 30th 2004. So you can imagine as family people, that it is a hard time for us being divided. If you like to see some pic"s of the new Steinway-Haus maybe you could have a look in the internet pages. In January 2003 our website will be hopefully ready and installed, the address is www.steinway-muenchen.de. We wish you all the best for the future, like to see you here in Munich if possible some days, wish you a safe Christmas season and a happy new year 2002! Truly yours

Thomas Kubitschek Steinway Haus Munchen Landsberger Strasse 336 80687 Munchen GERMANY Dear Thorns -

That is just terrible that you must lead a separated life in your new career in Munich . I guess we will never understand these restrictive laws in Germany . It seems strange that you can not even rent the house to others , even if you can not sell. Too bad indeed. We are both well , but getting old each day a little bit more , which makes us not look forward to travelling as we used to. So we stay at home here in New York. We had our two daughters and familys with us for Christmas , which was very nice. We remember with special delight our last visit with you in Berlin , with that great sightseeing tour . I first saw the Potsdamer plate in 1936 , and then to see it again before the wall, and then as the wall grew , and finally no wall. The world is certainly a crazy place - as shown by our Trade tower disaster. The unthinkable happens right before your eyes.

Anyway - best wishes to you and your family and I hope also you make a big business success in Munich.

Dear Thorns I think it is wonderful that you have the new and challenging job in Munich, soon to be Steinway Haus, formerly Piano Lang. I remember old Mr. Lang, and I think he would be delighted that you will continue the enterprise he built up from nothing. I wish you all success - and hope your family can soon move South.

As to your grand opening - I am now 85 years old and travelling has become somewhat difficult for me , specially long distances . So much as I would love to see Munich once more, I can not promise to be with you.

All best wishes to you -

Dear Mr. Steinway, please excuse me, I did not write for a long time. Hopefully you and your wife are OK? The reason for my absence was that I got a new job. I took over piano Lang in Munich, which is now Steinway-Haus. It is an exciting job but my family is still in Berlin. Lisa has Japanese as her second foreign language. For her it is not possible to change the school till the next 2 years. So I'm travelling a lot at the weekends. Please let me ask you and Mrs. Steinway if you would like to come to Munich for our grand opening of the Steinway-Haus next year? It would be great to see you and your wife again and be Shure, I will organize it comfortable for you. The best period will be in May or September 2001. Also it might be good to know, that there is a direct flight from New York to Munich. My second question is, if you would allow me to copy a photo of maestro Horowitz which he signed and dedicated to you. You showed me this photo at my visit at your office at Steinway Hall. In the first quarter of 2001 our building in Munich will be completely under construction. After that I have to decorate it as a Steinway-Haus, so it would be great if you will allow it. Mr. Steinway, please believe me, it was one of the most impressive periods in my life when I had the chance to meet you and Mr.Steinway. I'm dying for your answer and hope to see you again to have a good time with you in Munich. With kindest reards
