Electrostatic Precipitator - Technology Electronic Systems With Alstom’s decades of electronic monitoring and data collection experience in utility and industrial power generation installations, our Switched Integrated Rectifier (SIR™), and Advanced Electrostatic Precipitator Integrated Controller (EPIC III™) systems provide our customers with the latest technology. These upgrades help you achieve significantly improved system performance and operational reliability, with reductions in energy and material consumption and lower installation, maintenance and operating costs.

The new SIR, the 4th generation of ESP high frequency power supplies from Alstom, improves overall ESP performance without the need for costly mechanical modifications. Alstom’s more than 20 years experience with high performance controllers includes more than 1700 SIR units in operation. Now, operators of large ESPs with 400 mm electrode spacing can benefit from the outstanding capabilities of SIR high frequency power supplies. SIR is the first 120 kW switched technology based power supply on the market. Easily retrofittable into existing T/R systems. The high power conversion efficiency, low weight and ease of operation of this 4th generation SIR power supply offer significant advantages over conventional T/R units. All new SIR power supplies are supplied with integrated ESP rapping control. Remote control and monitoring is easily done with a standard web-capable PC.

EPIC III – ADVANCED ELECTROSTATIC PRECIPITATOR INTEGRATED CONTROLLER EPIC III, a single-board computer mounted in a robust steel enclosure, provides optimum control of HV rectifiers and rapping systems. All EPIC III units in a network communicate via Ethernet and share information in real time. To facilitate modernization of ESP control systems, retrofit kits allow quick and easy upgrades, giving your old ESP all the benefits of the advanced EPIC III system without the need to replace the T/R units or cabinetry.

In addition, EFFIC controls the thickness of the dust layer on fabric filter bags so that dust and absorbents (such as lime or active carbon) provide maximum collection efficiency – even when there are variations in the power plant’s gas flow. At the same time, EFFIC helps avoid overdosing with absorbents, helping to reduce operating costs.

REDUCED MAINTENANCE COSTS EFFIC can extend bag life by up to 25% by optimizing cleaning cycles, thus reducing wear and tear. In conjunction with a dust meter, EFFIC can rapidly detect and identify leaking filter bags. In addition, during each cleaning cycle, EFFIC also checks all cleaning valves (electrically and mechanically) to detect faults. All bag and valve faults are identified to allow immediate remedial action, saving maintenance costs and reducing fabric filter service times and production downtime.
