Preparing for Flight Installing Batteries in the Controller ENGLISH

1. Remove the battery cover on the back of the controller using a screwdriver. 2. Insert 4 new “AA” alkaline batteries by matching the polarity (+ and -) markings shown inside the battery compartment. 3. Replace the battery cover.

Charging the Mini Stealth Drone The Mini Stealth Drone is equipped with a Lithium Polymer (LiPo) battery. The battery is not fully charged at shipment. For best performance, fully charge the battery before the first use. Follow the instructions below to charge the Mini Stealth Drone. 1. Plug the battery connector on the underside of the drone into the output of the USB charging cable. The battery connector only fits in one way. Do not force the connectors together. 2. Connect the USB plug on the USB charging cable to one of the following: •

USB 2.0 (or later) port on your computer while a the computer is on • a stand-alone USB charger such as those used for cell phones or tablets . A steady red light will glow on the USB charging cable letting you know that the battery is charging. Under normal operating conditions, it may take up to 50 minutes to recharge the battery. 3. When the charger light goes out, the battery is fully charged and the drone is ready to be flown. Remove the battery connector from the USB charger. Note: Always allow the battery to cool before using and recharging to prolong battery life. Don’t use USB hubs, USB 1.0 or USB 1.1 ports: these may not have enough current to properly charge the Mini Stealth Drone.

Powering the Mini Stealth Drone

1. Plug the battery connector into the Power port on the underside of the Mini Stealth Drone and then place Mini Stealth Drone on a stable surface (i.e., flat ground). If it’s placed at an angle, this can disrupt the function of the auto-stabilization system. 2. Press the ON/OFF Button on the controller to turn it on. The controller beeps twice and the Power indicator lights up. 3. To link up the controller and the Mini Stealth Drone with each other, move the controller’s left stick up to the highest position. You will hear a beep once. Then move 4

the left stick down to the lowest position. You will hear another beep. The throttle is now enabled. Now move the left stick slowly upwards to increase the throttle and watch the Mini Stealth Drone take off. You can find more information on flying the Mini Stealth Drone using the controller in the next section “Basic Maneuvers”.

Basic Maneuvers Moving up and down

Side to Side

The Mini Stealth Drone moves up and down by varying the speed of its propellers. You can control how fast these spin by using the left stick on the controller. Pushing the stick up will increase the throttle. Small adjustments made slowly and carefully are the best way to get the Mini Stealth Drone to fly well. Be careful when easing off the throttle – if the Mini Stealth Drone stalls, it will fall to the ground and even if you jam the throttle back on, it might not be able to recover in time.

By moving the right stick horizontally, you can strafe or ‘slide’ left and right without rotating the Mini Stealth Drone. By using the left and right sticks at different angles and positions, you can design and execute some graceful, arcing turns. On the other hand, quick thrusts of the stick in different directions can create some unique tricks or stunts. Practice makes perfect!

Forwards and Backwards

Rotating (Turning Left/Right)

The right stick on the controller affects the Mini Stealth Drone’s direction of travel.

While moving forward, move the left stick to the left or right to turn the Mini Stealth Drone in the direction that you want to fly to.

Pushing the right stick up will move the Mini Stealth Drone forwards. The opposite is also true – moving the right stick down will move the Mini Stealth Drone in reverse.

Hovering

Landing

Once the Mini Stealth Drone is in the air, practise keeping it in one spot by playing around with the throttle levels. Because it’s a mini, even the lightest of breeze can effect on the stability of the drone.

While positioning the Mini Stealth Drone into a steady hover, slowly decrease the throttle until it lands. Try practising landings on the bonus landing pad game and have some fun with your friends!

Correcting Drifts ENGLISH

It is normal for the Mini Stealth Drone to drift slightly. If you find the Mini Stealth Drone consistently drifting in any direction during flight, you may need to adjust the trim settings. Basically, the trim ‘fine-tunes’ the speed of the propellers. Simply press (and hold) the appropriate trim button opposite to the movement until the Mini Stealth Drone is flying straight.

Movement Trim If the Mini Stealth Drone is drifting forwards or backwards, use the Movement Trim Buttons to compensate. It’s located beneath the right stick. If the Mini Stealth Drone is moving forwards, compensate by moving the trim backwards (i.e., down) and vice-versa.

Rotation Trim

If you find that the Mini Stealth Drone is turning slowly left or right when you’re not using the left stick on the controller, then you’ll need to adjust the trim using the Rotation Trim Buttons located beneath the left stick.

Sideways Trim

If the Mini Stealth Drone is moving either left or right without pivoting, use the Sideways Trim Buttons located beneath the right stick.

Resetting Trim Settings to Default

Press and hold the Trim Reset Button beneath the left stick while you press the ON/OFF Button to turn on the controller. (Make sure the controller is turned off first).

Flying Faster Want to perform stunts in high speed? Simply press the Speed Button to switch to Boost mode and fly the Mini Stealth Drone even faster than ever before! You will hear two (2) beeps indicating the drone is in Boost mode. Press the Speed Button again to return to Normal speed. You will hear a single beep. 6

Comfortable with the basic maneuvers? It’s time to progress to some of the more advanced flying maneuvers like flips and rolls. To perform a thrilling flip, simply press the Flip Button and move the right stick in any direction. Allow enough space in your surroundings when doing this so that the Mini Stealth Drone can properly recover afterward. Also, immediately after performing a flip, remember to quickly apply the appropriate throttle level (left stick) to avoid losing control and crashing the Mini Stealth Drone. Not so easy? That’s why it’s a good idea to master the basic maneuvers first before doing the flip!

Performing Flips Adjusting the Trim

Flying Guide Wind: Basically, the Mini Stealth Drone is a replica of a full-sized quadcopter. A full-sized quadcopter wouldn’t be able to fly in high winds – and neither can the Mini Stealth Drone. If a full-sized quadcopter would have difficulty overcoming 50mph winds, then the Mini Stealth Drone will have the same difficulty with 0.625mph winds (i.e. 1/80th as much). The Ground Effect: When the Mini Stealth Drone is near the ground, the air it pushes down with its rotor has nowhere to go – the ground is in the way. Some of this air bounces back; this pushes the Mini Stealth Drone up. When the Mini Stealth Drone is near the ground, it will get slightly more lift than it normally would. This is something to keep in mind when landing. The Ceiling Effect: Conversely to the ground effect, when you fly too close to a ceiling, a small pocket of low pressure is created above the Mini Stealth Drone, and it will be sucked upwards. This could be bad – if you hit the ceiling, the Mini Stealth Drone will stall, fall and possibly be damaged. Places to Fly: Because high winds can be a problem, we recommend flying indoors. However, you really do need a bit of space to get the most out of the Mini Stealth Drone. Some places which are good for flight include large garages (whilst the car’s not parked there), indoor sports areas or a reasonably sized lounge room. Low Battery: To get the longest possible life from the LiPo battery, never completely discharge it. As soon as the Mini Stealth Drone shows any sign of running low on power (such as responding slowly or being unable to maintain altitude easily) turn it off and charge it as soon as practicable. For more information about battery care, see page 2.
