Dear DCCC Family and Friends, As a member of the Foundation Board of Directors since 2003, I have had the privilege to serve Delaware County Community College in a very visible capacity. My roles as Vice-Chair and Chair have given me the opportunity to speak on behalf of the 30 prominent business and community leaders comprising the Board. As like-minded individuals, we share a commitment to our community. As Board Members, we recognize that the College shares this same commitment – development of the community and its residents. The Foundation plays a specific role in providing financial support for students, faculty, programs and facilities. Board Members serve on various committees throughout the year, assisting the Foundation in managing its enterprise and advancing its noble purpose. Board Members also serve as advocates for the College within the community, resulting frequently in the creation of various partnerships of mutual benefit. Most recently, the Board has focused its energies on the STEM Complex, a $60 million construction project currently underway on the Marple Campus. Fundraising during an economic downturn has proven challenging, but we are committed to the success of the campaign. Emphasis continues to be made on the “return on investment” that the STEM Complex will bring to the region and its positioning of the College as a greater resource than ever before. We look forward to its completion in 2010. Thank you to everyone who has supported our efforts during 2009-10. Sincerely yours,

Barbara A. Denczi DCCC Educational Foundation

LOU SCOTT GOLF CLASSIC The award-winning Golf Course at Glen Mills continues to host the annual Lou Scott Golf Classic, which has raised $120,000 to date. So far, 41 scholarships have been awarded to Delaware County Community College students since 2001. Mary Scott established the scholarship in memory of her husband Lou Scott, the former principal of Penncrest High School. The fund is augmented each year with proceeds from the golf outing.

Lou Scott Golf Classic Chair Rodger Mutzel seeks the highest bidder for the auction of a flag signed by Tiger Woods.

Dave Banet, title sponsor, awards the prize for longest drive to Paul Angert. Larry Moulder (center) of UPS awards the UPS Cup to the team that managed to return the elusive “pink ball.”

The Lees and Lyons families are regular participants and frequent winners at the outing.

Eileen M. Collins, the first woman to pilot and command an American spacecraft, was chosen to deliver the keynote address. As a community college graduate, the Astronaut was an inspiration to students, particularly those majoring in challenging science and technology-based disciplines. Her selection as a speaker complements the College's current STEM initiative and investment in a $60 million complex for the study of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Dear Donors, Throughout the past year, we have acknowledged your gifts to the Foundation in support of a multitude of projects. The annual report presents another opportunity to express our appreciation and to document your generosity. Contributions at $2.2 million during 2009-10 have nearly doubled, due primarily to the Gateway to Opportunity Capital Campaign for the STEM Complex, which is well underway. Visitors to the Marple Campus will take immediate notice of the construction of the new complex that promises to attract students to challenging academic programs in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Despite the strong interest and support for this project, fundraising efforts are proceeding at a slow pace due to the economy. Yet, we are pleased to be able to list a great numbers of individuals, corporations and foundations that have been able to pledge or contribute thus far. With more than half of our goal realized, we remain optimistic that the economy soon will recover and that our constituents will be able to support this major initiative. The Foundation's annual Dollars for Scholars Dinner continues to present the perfect opportunity to applaud both donors and students alike. Thanks to the donors of our 100 scholarships, the College is better able to recruit and retain talented students who rely more than ever before upon financial assistance. We are grateful also for the 13 awards that recognize outstanding performance by students, faculty, alumni and staff. Inspired by the generosity of its donors, the Foundation has added resources to expand both the scholarship and award programs. Once again, thank you to the individuals, corporations, foundations and organizations that support us in so many ways each year. Your investment in the Foundation's mission is rewarding and encouraging to the entire DCCC family. Sincerely,

Kathleen A. Breslin Executive Director 15
