Cannon Viking History
Cannon Viking is the world leader in the manufacture and supply of machinery and technology for the production of polyurethane foam blocks, with more than 700 machines operating in over 130 countries worldwide.
Cannon Viking was initially formed as Viking Engineering in 1956. Since this date the company has been heavily involved and integral part of the development and the evolution of the polyurethane foam industry worldwide.
Cannon Viking offers a large variety of solutions to suit all foam block and furniture producers, from single block machinery through to the range of continuous foam block production plants with full computer control, high pressure chemical metering and foam liquid laydown technologies.
Our name is synonymous with high quality, efficient, and modern machinery and we continue to produce machinery of the highest standard today at our purpose factory in Manchester, UK.
We can supply a complete turn key solution with the foaming plant, chemical tank farm and foam cutting machine with associated integrated electrical controls. The company has vast experience in the manufacture of all types of polyurethane foam, including standard Polyether foams, HR foams, Visco / Memory foams, Fire Retardant foams, Filled foams, CME and CMHR foams as well as Rigid and Semi Rigid block foams and Polyester foams.
In 1989 Viking became part of the Cannon group, the world’s leaders in polyurethane processing technologies. As pioneers in the industry with the very latest development such as: CarDio™ Carbon Dioxide Technology for low density foams, Omega computerised control and monitoring equipment and High Pressure Liquid Laydown and Maxfoam technology, all of which have been developed and supported in house by a team of Engineers. Cannon Viking continue to evolve and develop to stay ahead in the support of all our customers. EASYMAX MACHINE To meet the growing demand for the production of high quality Flexible Slabstock Foam Blocks, in new and rapidly developing markets, Cannon Viking introduced a new, low cost but high quality machine, to add to the existing Maxfoam Range, the Easymax continuous machine.

Accurate Metering Units Precise metering pumps for all chemical lines are used which include accurate and specific pumps, motors, drives and safety valves. Features: All chemicals are pumped neat in the production process. The pumps are all custom selected depending on the density, required output and property of each chemical. Benefits: Increased operational ease and low risk Increased accuracy and repeatability Improved chemical reaction leading to superior and regular foam cell formation.

Precision Mixing Head The Cannon Viking mechanical mixing head of proven design based on building more than 700 slabstock foam plants. Features: Highly Efficient Mixing Unit Low Maintenance required Quick release clamps for easy disassembly of mixing head after production run. Easymax Fallplate The 5 piece Fallplate is an infinitely variable, manually adjustable telescopic Fallplate. Features: Block widths between: 1.8M - 2.2M Benefits: Fallplate allow for many different foam block width options. Significant saving in time required to set up machine. Long life with little maintenance required.

Easymax Conveyor The conveyor is horizontal with the Easymax process. It is supported for floor mounting with a strong and robust steel framework to form a structure of ample strength and rigidity. Features: Conveyor speed is accurately maintained even under changing loads. It is conveniently and precisely adjustable from the operator panel Galvanised steel conveyor slats

Easymax Option RS System The RS system is supplied to further improve the foam block rectangular shape and maximise block yield with reduced waste. Two side films are pulled in height during the foam expansion phase to lift the block sides during foam formation- this makes the block flatter and squarer. The equipment consists of two pairs of RS pulling rollers, each driven by a variable speed drive motor. The pulling rolls can be tilted forward and backward by means of a drive motor, which is controlled automatically by a set of air sensors. The principle of the improved block shape is based on a further reduction of the friction between the rising foam and the horizontally moving side-paper/film. Silicone Air Mixer Cannon Viking introduced this development to further improve foam structure and reduce pin hole for the foam. This equipment which is already in successful operation with more than 50 clients throughout Asia, Europe, the Middle East and South America utilises a special, patented Cannon pre mixer for better mixing of nucleation air and silicone prior to feeding into the Easymax mixing head of the continuous foaming plant. Additional Metering Units for Colour and Speciality Foams Additional metering units can be supplied to enable production of a wide range of foam types on the Easymax machine. These include specific metering units with specialised pumps for Colours, Filled Foams, Fire Retardant Foams, Antistatic Foams, Anti UV Foams, CMHR / Melamine Filled Foams.
VCO Block Cut Off Machine Cannon Viking manufactures the VCO Block length cutting machine for installation at the end of the Easymax conveyor. The VCO is used to cut the continuous foam into convenient lengths before being transported into the foam curing area. The VCO Cutting Machine has proven to be very reliable with precise cutting and accurate repeatable length cutting with more than 500 units in successful operation worldwide.
Planiblock and Top Film Systems Cannon Viking has been supplying this equipment to further improve foam block profiles on Easymax machine for many years. This equipment can be supplied as part of a new Easymax machine installation or as a later addition to the clients’ existing machine. High Pressure System Cannon Viking has a vast experience in supply of foaming plants with high pressure metering units. The Easymax can be supplied with high pressure TDI and water chemical lines and a high pressure mixing head for finer celled foams with less pinholes.

All the Cannon Viking Machines carry a full Guarantee of satisfactory operation. Testing at Cannon Viking is thorough and the Customer, or their Representatives, are always welcome to inspect the final machine whilst testing is being carried out in Manchester. Customers are welcome to undergo pre delivery training at that time which will greatly facilitate the installation and operation of their machine when running in their factory. Cannon also provides full support and technical design to help customers plan their factory and machine layout with special emphasis to raw materials storage and temperature conditioning, foam block handling, foam block conversion and related fire safety.
