Project 2013

3

Project 2013 is into the final quarter as Phase 2 work continues at rapid pace. We hope everyone has been enjoying the reopening of the renovated Fitness Center, Bowling Alley and Men’s Locker Room. Meanwhile, the singles squash courts have been open for use while some of the final details and painting are nearing 100% completion in that space. The new Meeting Rooms have received furnishings and are also nearing completion with the state-of-the art video teleconferencing systems being installed. If you’ve liked what you’ve seen with the revamped Men’s Locker Room interiors, the Women’s Locker Room is taking shape and the details will be every bit the equal. Beautiful finished wood lockers, axminster carpeting, tiled wet areas, steam and sauna are all in the works. Meanwhile, the interior at each floor of the addition has been nearly all boarded and drywall finishing is underway. Pool interior renovations are also progressing and have been sorely needed for the historic 115 year old natatorium space. The new pool roof skylight will enhance these improvements by flooding the space with diffused natural light. The exterior brick and stone facade is also near done and looks wonderful. New exterior windows will be fitted with glass in the coming weeks and the building exterior continues to take shape with the metal standing seam roofing and decorative cornice work in progress. Next month the building should be all closed in and weathertight. Stay tuned….

Gingerbread House Founder’s Bar Casual Dining Decorating Party SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 30 • 1 PM • $30.00

The party begins at 1:00 p.m. in the Millard Fillmore Room. Take an afternoon off from your busy holiday schedule to spend some time with your family. Each family will decorate a gingerbread house. $30.00 per family includes one gingerbread house and all the trimmings, coffee, hot chocolate and cookies. Additional houses are $25.00 each. For those interested, a buffet lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the Founder's Bar. $16.95 for adults, $8.50 for children ages 4 - 12, children under 3 are free. Please call the Club switchboard at 886-6400 for reservations, stating if you will be having lunch prior to the party.

Wine ofthe Month

Each month we will be featuring red and white wines for your enjoyment. Order a glass in the Old Buffalo Lounge or a bottle in one of the dining rooms.

Wyatt Chardonnay, 2010, Oakland, California A very nicely balanced wine: perfectly ripe tropical fruit flavors, with just a hint of oak at the fringes, buoyed by clean, fresh acidity. Choose this wine if you need something to set the mood for a light dinner. Glass $7, Bottle $24

Renwood Zinfindel, 2006, Sierra Foothills, Plymouth, California This is a fairly simple zinfandel, with cherry and pepper on the nose. The palate is dominated by sour cherry with blackberry and tar underneath it. It’s well balanced and enjoyable. It’s not as jammy as a lot of other zins, so if you want less jam this may be a pick for you. Glass $7, Bottle $24

Domaine Serene Monogram Pinot Noir 2003, Williamette Valley, Oregon A blend of predominantly Dijon Clone from Domaine Serene’s Evenstad Estate, Jerusalem Hill Estate and Winery Hill Estate, Monogram is aged for 18 months in new French oak. Only 100 cases produced of this Pinot gem. This is serious stuff, with intense and spectacularly pure fruit. Dominated by dark berries on the nose and palate, this wine carries tannins that should allow it to age gracefully over the next ten years. Yet it is delicious now. Amazing are the layers of pure dark berries, interwoven with a slight but delicious earthiness. Bottle $210
