The DGNB Certificate

Setting the Benchmark

 Integral Design  Goal definition in the early stages of design  State-of-the-art technology  Intelligent concepts If these requirements are fulfilled, the certificate is attainable

© DGNB 2010 |13

Pre-Certification: Advantage of Integrated Planning

 Improved risk management  More transparency and process clarity in planning and construction  Higher security in achieving the performance goals of a building upon its completion  Higher building quality Pre-certification promotes improved building optimization and offers marketing advantages

A Second-Generation Certification System  Independent, transparent certification system  More than GREEN – Optimum in Ecology and Economy  Identifies interdependences in order to address conflicts  Risk management with real transparency  Pre-Certificate – goal definition and integrated planning at an early stage  Goal-oriented system, not focused on specific measures  Breakdown of results  Cost-benefit  Sustainable = Rentable (win-win situation)

DGNB International Application

Direct Application  The core system of the DGNB is based on Europe standards.  Experienced auditors with country-specific know-how can use the system directly wherever European standards apply.

22 | © DGNB 2011

DGNB International Application

Country-Specific Adaptation  A country-specific adaptation facilitates the certification process.  The system is always adapted in close cooperation with local experts.

 Adaptations have been (or are currently being) undertaken in countries such as Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Bulgaria and China.  Other country adaptations are currently being prepared, e.g. for Brasil and the Ukraine. 23 | © DGNB 2011
