DEPARTMENT OF POLITICAL SCIENCE SASHI BHUSAN RATH GOVT. (AUTO.)WOMEN’S COLLEGE, BERHAMPUR BRIEF HISTORY The Department of Political Science is an integral part of SBR Govt. (Auto.) Women’s College, a premier institution of Southern Odisha. The college was established in the year 1958. Autonomous status was granted in the year 2007. Department of Political Science started functioning in the year 1980.

Ms.Sucherita Patro received cash award from People’s Trust, Odisha for best performance in group activities .
Ms.Krishana Kumari was adjudged best dancer at Youth Festival held at Berhampur in 2012.

1.6.3 FACILITIES PROVIDED TO THE STUDENTS
We have a very good Seminar Library which caters to the needs of the students .
Books are issued to the students regularly .
At the end of Lectures of every unit of course tutorial classes are taken for clarification of doubts and proper guidance .
Remedial Classes are taken for slow-learners and backward students.
Departmental seminars are held regularly .
Seminar Secretary and Assistance Seminar Secretary are elected by +3 3rd, +3 2nd and +3 1st Year Honours students to facilitate the weekly seminars and allotment of seminar topics to students.
We maintain a proctorial record with the address and phone no. of parents for solving the academic problems of the students
Parent-teacher meetings are held for solving the problems like low-attendance and poor performance of the students
1.6.4 CURRICULUM DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT
The syllabi are revised and updated annually through the Board of Study meetings to which subject experts from other universities are invited .
The syllabi have been designed on Choice Based Credit System from the academic year 2015-16.
The students can take interdisciplinary papers in addition to their core course.
Group discussions are encouraged on various current issues to enhance their competitive acumen.
Class-tests are conducted twice a month to test the grasp of students on the topics taught.

Some students of the department are very good dancers and singers and have earned fame at the State and National level

The Course is designed with the motive to promote research aptitude of the students. A theoretical paper includes data based topics
