DEGREE PROGRAMME IN SPORTS AND LEISURE MANAGEMENT Physical Exercise Professional The Degree Programme in Sports and Leisure Management leads to a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Studies (Sports Instructor) and enables graduates to work as a physical exercise professional in training, planning and development posts. The degree programme takes 3.5 years to complete and it is worth 210 cr. It consists of basic studies, professional studies, free-choice studies, practical training and a thesis. Great Study and Practical Training Opportunities! Teaching is organised primarily on the Kajaani University of Applied Sciences campus and in the surrounding area. There is a sports hall, gym and swimming pool on campus. In the countryside and area around the campus there are ski tracks, exercises tracks and excellent cross-country exercise facilities, indoor ice-skating facilities, a hall for ball and racquet games, an athletics field, a swimming pool and Kajaani Sports Hall equipped with large halls and apparatus for floor and apparatus gymnastics. A short distance away there is a golf-course with greens. Some teaching and part of the practical training period takes place in and around the Vuokatti campus (Vuokatti Sports Institute and Snowpolis). Vuokatti Sports Hall with its indoor sports facilities, swimming pool, sports testing laboratory, ice-skating hall and gym are situated in this area. The area also includes Vuokatti down-hill ski slopes and cross-country skiing opportunities for demanding exercise enthusiasts. The Katinkulta tourist complex is also located in Vuokatti and it is a possible practical training place. Katinkulta includes two bowling alleys, a spa with exercise swimming lanes, badminton and tennis courts, physical exercise and gymnastics facilities, a gym and golf course. Study on this degree is free however it is necessary to be prepared for expenses incurred by the purchase of books and sports equipment. Courses arranged at the Vuokatti Sports Institute (such as skiing and down-hill skiing, some courses in winter sports coaching) will cause expenses (e.g. travelling from Kajaani to Vuokatti, ski-slope costs and equipment there if necessary).
