Managing change in a complex world CWIEME Central

CWIEME Workshop Hub

With every part of the electrical manufacturing supply chain being monitored and challenged, maintaining the balance between cost and quality while getting products rapidly to market requires complex decisions. Retaining your business’s competitive advantage depends on innovation that is expensive and risky.

The CWIEME Workshop Hub hosts a series of sessions providing design engineers with an interactive, technical solutions focused experience. The workshops cover topics such as 3D thermal analysis for motor design, the application of carbon brushes in rotating electrical machinery and the latest considerations for EU fire protection directives in railway application design. These workshops are led by industry experts, on hand to provide practical design advice for those in the transformer, motor and generator sectors. Drop-ins are welcome however please note seating is limited and priority will be given to those pre-registered until 5 minutes before the session starts. Workshops are free to attend.

The products you design, the materials you use and the manufacturing technology you integrate are all affected by advancements and new alternatives on offer. From designers to product managers and CTO’s, responsibility for making the right choice is a dynamic process. The CWIEME Central sessions give you a chance to drop in and hear ideas and solutions that ease or inspire one of those choices. Join expert speakers and your peers to discuss the latest technical and design solutions, material advancements, market analysis and future technology innovation all in one place.

Workshop WS006 13.30-14.30 Brought to by:

Partial Discharge Diagnosis: Case Studies – A OMICRON Workshop The measurement of partial discharge (PD) is a well-accepted technique used to assess the quality of an insulation system in a variety of electrical devices. PD measuring systems enable you to quickly assess the insulation state of electrical equipment. The results enable asset managers, product developers and users to quickly detect, assess and locate faults, in order to prevent breakdowns before they occur. In this workshop, you will be provided with a short theoretical background on PD measurement and diagnosis. Through actual case studies, you will be shown why and how a PD diagnosis is conducted, including which conclusions the user can make from the measurements about the insulation condition of tested electrical equipment. Finally, you will have the opportunity to see a live PD measurement. Workshop leader: Rene Hummel, Applications Engineer, OMICRON
