Your arrival at Culzean Castle Upon entering the country park, follow the long driveway as it winds through beautiful Scottish woodland, catching glimpses of the castle through the trees. As you walk through Robert Adam’s Roman-inspired ruined arch and across the viaduct, be prepared to be captivated as you catch your first full view of magnificent Culzean Castle. Beyond the castle’s entrance hall lies the Armoury. Renowned for its world-famous collection of flintlock pistols and swords which adorn the walls, this impressive room is ideal for welcome drinks on arrival and celebratory drinks and canapés following the ceremony. Maximum Capacity: 100

Your ceremony in Culzean Castle Within the castle, your ceremony can be held on the Oval Staircase, in the Round Drawing Room or, for small parties, in the Eisenhower Apartment (see page 12).

Oval Staircase A Robert Adam masterpiece, the Oval Staircase lies at the heart of Culzean Castle. Famous for its soaring colonnades, grand oil paintings and dramatic red carpet, the Oval Staircase is flooded by light from the glass cupola high above. Maximum Capacity: 100

Round Drawing Room Used as a grand reception room by the 10th Earl of Cassillis to entertain guests and dignitaries, the Round Drawing Room is framed by six spectacular windows offering panoramic sea views across the Firth of Clyde to the Isle of Arran. The room is lavishly decorated with ornate cornicing, giltwood chairs and a crystal chandelier. Maximum Capacity: 72

Your reception at Culzean Castle Depending on the size of your wedding party and formality of the occasion, Culzean Castle offers you a variety of unique locations for dining.

State Dining Room Decorated in the Adam Revival style by the 3rd Marquess of Ailsa, the elegant State Dining Room features ornate ceilings, Corinthian pillars and portraits of the Kennedy family who once lived at Culzean. One of Scotland’s oldest families, the Culzean Kennedys can trace their ancestry to Robert the Bruce. The State Dining Room can comfortably seat up to 72 guests. The castle’s original oak dining table can also be used to seat more intimate parties of up to 36. Maximum Capacity: 72

Georgian Kitchen Dating from 1797, the Georgian Kitchen is located on the ground floor of the castle, within easy access of the State Dining Room and Armoury. The Georgian Kitchen is ideal for ceilidhs, dances and drinks receptions for up to 72 guests or dining for parties of up to 36. Maximum Capacity: 72

Home Farm Restaurant Within a short walk of the castle, the Home Farm Restaurant is ideal for a drinks reception for up to 150 guests or dining for up to 100. A versatile venue, it is perfect for both informal and formal celebrations. Maximum Capacity: 150

Cannon Lawn

Your marquee in the grounds of Culzean If you are planning a larger wedding, marquees can be erected on the Cannon Lawn, West Green or Fountain Court, using the castle as a dramatic backdrop.

Cannon Lawn A marquee on the Cannon Lawn connects directly with the Library, encompassing the two impressive cannons standing guard at the entrance. Maximum Capacity: 200

West Green This large open green, just a few minutes’ walk from the castle, offers spectacular views across the Firth of Clyde to the Isle of Arran. Maximum Capacity: 300

Fountain Court With a beautiful ornate fountain in the centre, the manicured lawns of the Fountain Court’s sunken gardens are framed by palm trees and colourful flowerbeds. Maximum Capacity: 900

Your celebration in the gardens of Culzean Camellia House Constructed from ornate stone and glass, with lovely views across the gardens, this Victorian folly is perfect for intimate ceremonies. Maximum Capacity: 40

Orangery Once used to supply Culzean with exotic fruits and flowers, the Orangery is a beautiful building on the castle’s south-facing terraces. Today, ceremonies can be held amidst the citrus trees or colourful summer flowers.

Your Wedding, Your Way Whether you decide to design your own bespoke wedding or select Culzean’s special wedding package, our Wedding Coordinator will always be on hand to provide support and advice.

Culzean Wedding Package Based on a party of 60 guests attending celebrations in the castle on a private hire basis, from 4.30pm until midnight, the package includes the following: • Piper in full Scottish dress to welcome guests on arrival

• Optional post-ceremony tour of the castle for guests

• Welcome drinks reception in the Armoury, with two glasses of sparkling wine per guest

• Three-course fine dining menu served in the State Dining Room, accompanied by one half-bottle of wine per guest

• Wedding ceremony either in the Round Drawing Room or on the Oval Staircase • Drinks and canapé reception in the Armoury following the ceremony, with two glasses of sparkling wine per guest • Use of the castle and gardens for photography

Your Accommodation at Culzean Castle Eisenhower Apartment In November 1945, General Dwight D. Eisenhower was invited by the 5th Marquess of Ailsa and the Kennedy family to accept the keys to a specially created guest apartment on the top floor of the castle. Named in his honour, it was gifted for his use during his lifetime, as a gesture of Scotland’s gratitude for his command of Scottish forces during World War II. General (later President) Eisenhower, members of his family and close friends stayed here on several occasions.

The Eisenhower Apartment, which is completely self-contained, has six bedrooms and can accommodate up to 12 guests. In the style of a country house hotel, the Apartment includes a Drawing Room and Dining Room and is accessed using the original 1920s elevator. Religious, humanist and civil weddings can take place in the Eisenhower Apartment. Intimate and historic, this is a unique venue which is ideal for small gatherings and is available with overnight hire of the whole Apartment. Maximum Capacity: 18 Accommodation: 12

Dunure Inn Accommodation Relax and stay a while in one of our six beautifully decorated rooms and suites. All rooms are en-suite and are quite simply ‘a home from home’ with stunning harbour views.

Suites Three suites are available for families, providing plenty of space to relax, and sleeping up to four people per suite. Each suite comprises a double bedroom with en-suite and a sitting room with double sofa bed.

Restaurant Eat in our beautifully renovated restaurant where locally sourced, fresh food is prepared in a relaxing and warm setting. Choose from a packed menu including dishes fresh from the local fishermen. We can also cater for large parties and functions, from buffets to set menus. Entertainment Live music is a regular occurrence here with bands playing 2-3 times per month, usually on a Saturday night. We also hold the ‘Dunure Folk Festivals’ twice a year, with one at Easter and another midsummer. All music nights are very well attended and make for a very enjoyable night out.

Maybole Pipe Band

Maybole Pipe Band is a traditional Bagpipe and Drum Band using the bagpipes, snare drums, tenor drums and bass drum to provide the traditional entertainment that is associated with Scottish bagpipe bands. Unlike the majority of bands, we use the military style number 1 uniform with Red McPherson tartan. How to find us Culzean is 12 miles south of Ayr and 4 miles west of Maybole. By car Culzean is on the A719. Directions from Edinburgh/Glasgow: Leave M8 at J22 and join A77 (M77) signposted Kilmarnock/ Prestwick Airport/Stranraer Bypass Prestwick and Ayr Stay on A77 (Stranraer) until Maybole, then follow signs for A719 to Culzean 4 miles beyond Maybole turn right into Culzean Castle & Country Park (signposted). By bus Stagecoach (no. 60) from Ayr to Girvan via Maidens. Bus stops at Culzean Castle & Country Park entrance. From the entrance it is a one-mile walk downhill from the bus stop to Culzean Castle and Home Farm Restaurant. By train Maybole railway station is 4 miles from Culzean.
