Creating Special Bar Codes To Configure Your KDC

1

Configuring Your KDC You can configure your KDC’s settings in 4 different ways. Way ONE

Scan Sequential Special Bar Codes

Way TWO

Scan One “Multiple Configuration” Special Bar Code

Way THREE

Using The On-Board Menu System (for KDC’s equipped with a display)

Way FOUR

Using KOAMTAC’s KTSync® Software Utility

This guide explains how to create Special bar codes using a free web-based barcode generator program for configuring your KDC using Way ONE or Way TWO.

!

The KDC has TWO Special Bar Code sets: one for 1D Laser scanner models and one for 2D imager models. Both use Code 128 bar code symbology but they use different control characters and conventions. The models are as shown below. Be sure to follow the instructions for your scanner type.

1D LASER models:

KDC 100 KDC 200

2D IMAGER models:

KDC 300 KDC 350C

KDC 250

KDC 420

KDC 350L

KDC 425

KDC 410 KDC 415

The KDC has TWO Special Bar Code sets: one for laser scanner models and one for 2D imager models. Both use Code 128 bar code symbology but they use different control characters and conventions. The conventions are as shown below:

For 2D imager models KDC300/350C/420/425

Creating Multiple Configuration Special Bar Codes

!

The KDC has TWO Special Bar Code sets: one for 1D laser scanner models and one for 2D imager models. Both can use Code 128 bar code symbology but they use different control characters and convention. In addition, 2D imagers can also use QR Code for Multiple Configuration Special Bar Codes. The conventions for encoding the information are as shown below:

For 1D laser-based models KDC100/200/250/350L/410/415

;;… is a code128 control character. This tells the KDC that a special bar code follows and this should be used to change settings. is the first ascii character string for the first setting to be controlled Each additional ascii character string (to a practical maximum of 7 strings per bar code) for each additional setting. Note that strings are separated by a semi-colon ( ; ). If you have more than 7 settings to configure, it is recommended that additional Multiple Configuration bar codes be used. Otherwise the code can become too long to be scanned.

See Appendix C of the KOAMTAC User Manual for 1D Laser STRINGS

For 2D imager models KDC300/350C/420/425

MKDC;;…. is a control character 0x16 (022) ‘M’

is an ascii character string which is specific to each setting to be controlled is each additional ascii character string for each additional setting. Note that strings are separated by a semi-colon ( ; ) ‘.’

is the last ascii character

Let’s Make A Multiple Configuration Bar Code In this example, a user would like to create a Multiple Configuration Special Bar Code to configure his or her KDC with the following settings (see Page 3 for info on STRINGS):

• Change Wedge/Store to “Wedge Only”  82000 • Change Termination Character to “None”  88000 • Change Bluetooth “Auto PowerOff” to “Disabled”  64010
