CONFERENCE REGISTRATION A conference dedicated entirely to EARTHING for Electrical, Electronic, Control & Communications Engineers.
Hunter Valley, NSW, Australia 9th - 11th October 2012
An invitation from the Electrical Branch It will be a great pleasure to welcome you and your partner to this year’s Down to Earth Conference hosted by the Newcastle Division Electrical Branch Committee of Engineers Australia in association with IEEE PES, EESA and ENA. This is only the second time this conference has been held. The inaugural conference took place in Perth in 2010 and was very well received with nearly twice the number of delegates originally estimated attending. To maintain the momentum of a conference supporting earthing practitioners, it has been agreed that the conference will alternate between the East and West coast on a biennial basis. The second DTEC will build on the successful first conference by providing an opportunity for: • Earthing specialists to present their recent experiences and the latest advances • Engineers to publish peer reviewed technical papers in conjunction with Engineers Australia, IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES), and the Electric Energy Society of Australia (EESA) • Asset owners, regulators, educators, and interested engineers to increase awareness of issues significant in the field and discuss how they are being handled • Earthing practitioners, past earthing course attendees, and people new to be field to get together and share experiences • Suppliers and consultants to showcase their capabilities and products. The technical programme will consist of three components: • Presentation of peer reviewed technical papers addressing recent advances in earthing related fields. Accepted papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings and listed in IEEE Explore • Presentations using a less formal approach to cover recent experiences such as technically challenging design applications of tools/methods, report on an incident of wider interest, provide an update of an R & D project, and introduce new tools/materials with supporting analysis. We have received a significant number of submissions in response to our call for papers resulting in a full program schedule that promises a great diversity of content. To help those who are new to the earthing field, or who may have been out of the earthing field for a little while, we have organised for a half day of earthing tutorials to bring you up to speed. The tutorials have been designed to cater for delegates from a broad range of earthing practice. Partners are welcome and to ensure that they are well catered for there will tour of the award winning Hunter Valley Gardens and neighbouring village and another to local boutique vineyards to sample the best food and wine the area has to offer. I look forward to welcoming you to what we are sure will be the pinnacle event for earthing practitioners in the region.
