Personal History

The founder of XPS International, LLC is B. Vincent Crist, with a Ph.D. in organic chemistry, has been in the business of XPS since 1983, when he joined Surface Science Laboratories, a public chemical analysis laboratory. He has been an applications engineer for Hakuto Co. Ltd in Japan, sales manager for VG Scientific in Japan, lab manager at Ames Laboratory (US-DOE) at ISU, lab manager at Accurel Systems International in California, USA and surface scientist at Seagate Technologies and Komag Inc, located in the Silicon Valley. He published a 3 volume set of handbooks with John Wiley & Sons in 2000, titled Handbooks of Monochromatic XPS Spectra. Dr. Crist has been invited to speak on applied and practical aspects of XPS. He is an active member of the Technical Committee (TC/201) of the International Standards Organization (ISO) on Surface Chemical Analysis which is known as a member of the American Vacuum Society (AVS), Surface Analysis Society of Japan (SASJ), a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and a member of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). The founder was recruited as an Advisory Board Editor for the journal “Surface and Interface Analysis” published by Wiley & Sons.
