Colombia en el Gran Caribe Gustavo Bell L.*

Abstract This paper analyzes the evolution of Colombia´s foreign policy towards the Caribbean region, from a historical perspective parting since the initiation of the Gran Colombia. Four different periods in the relations between Colombia and the countries that currently                           amongst society and the Colombian government. This paper makes recommendations aimed at further enhancing political integration and trade with Caribbean countries, so as to strengthen and further develop Colombia´s presence in the region. Therefore, Colombia                     permanent and unequivocal way its will to outreach to and accompany the Caribbean countries, participating in the most critical issues inherent to the region. In the current context, Colombia has an opportunity to become the region´s leader in distinct areas, and thus mitigate the risk of a possible polarization against its government. Resumen Este documento analiza la evolución de la política exterior de Colombia hacia el Caribe desde una perspectiva histórica que parte de la    !"     #$   Gran Caribe, determinados a partir de la evolución que el mismo concepto del Caribe ha tenido para la sociedad y el gobierno colombiano. El documento hace recomendaciones encaminadas a fomentar una mayor integración política y comercial con los países del Caribe, $ %       # !

En el contexto actual Colombia tiene la oportunidad de convertirse en líder de la región en distintas áreas y así también mitigar los riesgos de una posible polarización en su contra.
