CLASS DESCRIPTIONS Session 1a: 1) 10-11am- Aqua Stretch with Linda Sherman (YWCA Aquatics Director): This class focuses on improving balance, increasing core strength, and enhancing flexibility using a variety of pieces of water exercise equipment. About Linda: Linda is the Aquatics Director at the YWCA Central Maine. She is Red-Cross certified Life Guard and trains individuals in a lifeguard course at the YWCA Central Maine. Her positive personality and informed instruction help put all students in her aquatics class at ease. Aqua Stretch is a class Linda teaches regularly at the YWCA.

2) 10-11am- “ Easy Lanscape Painting” with Nichole Bouyea (Avant GardeMaine): The act of painting can create a meditative and peaceful experience. Join Nichole from Avant-Garde Maine for an hour of creative meditation. Relax, create one-pointed focus and let the rest of the world pass you by as you get lost in the act of painting the piece shown below. Bring: Clothes to paint in and a creative spirit! (An additional $5.00 per person for materials fee to be paid at class.)

Session 1a (con't) 3)10-11am-Qigong with Joe Harrigan Qigong is a set of healing exercises and meditations that has been practiced for thousands of years in China and the far east. This evidence-based program is derived directly from traditional training and has been developed in the US. It is proven to improve balance, immune function, and lower body strength. Posture, breathing and focused movement relaxes and strengthens the body and provides energy to support the bodies healing and regulatory processes. Qigong practice is accessible to all people of all ages and physical ability. Bring: mat, clean shoes, water bottle. About Joe: Joe Harrigan, LMT, is a Massage Therapist and Qigong/Taiji Instructor. He is certified by Chen Master Dr Yang Yang to teach an Evidenced-Based Taiji/Qigong Program. This program was designed to give the maximum benefit in the shortest time. Joe is a life-long practitioner of martial arts who also holds a Black Belt in Kempo Karate and has trained in various other styles. He has also participated in Triathlon, running events, century rides, obstacle course races (winning his age class at the 1st Beach Raid) and was a gymnast in high school. Joe’s primary focus is addressing specific or chronic issues, managing pain and stress and helping clients to regain their functional movement and quality of life.

Together they seek knowledge of the mind, soul, body, senses, and the elements. In this class, Sadie Landry will help you to bring balance into your being and your practice using breathwork (pranayama) and poses (asana) appropriate for the season. About Sadie: Sadie received her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Certification from the ShivaShakti School of Yoga and Healing Arts in Rockland, ME. She is also Certified in Thai Body Massage and received her Ayurvedic Yoga Teaching Certification in 2014. She teaches yoga regularly at Pelletier's Karate in Lewiston where she is a 6th-degree black belt and has been teaching Karate for over 20 years.

LUNCH BREAK- 12:15-1:00PM Session 2: 1:10-2:05pm- Yin Yoga with Kimberly Allen Give yourself time to slow down into stillness. Yin yoga is the opportunity to let your muscles relax and bring healing into the connective tissue and joints. Yin yoga is a blend of yoga postures, the meridian system from Traditional Chinese Medicine and the stillness practice of Buddhism. This class creates a balance for those that practice more vigorous forms of yoga, for those that suffer from joint pain, and for those that are willing to go deep. About Kimberly: Kimberly has been a student of yoga for over eighteen years and has been teaching for the past

thirteen. She first became interested in offering yoga to the medical community and received training in yoga therapy from Joseph LePage. Her passion for Yin Yoga led her to train with Josh Summers. Power Up Your Essence w/ Amber Rose Cox, Board Certified Hypnotist Join in for this fun, interactive and informative presentation on how hypnosis works and experience the power of suggestion. This will be a thought-provoking and inspiring informational session on the power of our thoughts and how it effects our emotional state as well as our physical health. About Amber: Amber Rose Cox is Founder of Portland Maine Hypnosis Center, and Board Certified Hypnotist, Life Coach and Motivational Entertainer. She has maintained a private practice since 2010. Amber specializes in weight loss, stress/anxiety, pain management and smoking cessation. She also works with athletes for sports performance. Amber uses a combination of Personality Profiling, NLP and EFT interwoven into her sessions. 1:15-2:15pm-Cycling Tour with Ben Grenier of Rainbow Bicycles and Laura Campbell of Big Room Personal Training Enjoy a beginners 1-hour cycling tour with Ben and Laura as they guide you to explore the Androscoggin Riverside Trail, a new trail along the river in Lewiston. Androscoggin Land Trust completed this beautifully scenic paved path for cyclists, walkers, runners and nature enthusiasts in October 2014. What to bring: bicycle, helmet and water bottle. Riders will not be permitted to join without helmets. About Laura: Laura is a certified personal trainer, fitness instructor and a Registered Maine Guide, as is the owner of "Big Room Personal Training." She teaches at LL Bean's Discovery School, and has offered fitness instruction at the YWCA of Central Maine. Laura is an avid road, trail runner, swimmer and cyclist having completed several marathons and triathlons. She leads classes in fitness at her home fitness studio, "The Big Room" where she offers a client-based environment for those who prefer less intimidating

workouts from traditional health club settings. She brings this philosophy of helping others achieve their personal best to the YWCA today in a nonjudgmental and caring environment.

About Ben: Ben is a bike mechanic and salesperson for Rainbow Bicycle. As an avid cyclist, he trains for and participates in numerous cycling races in New England and abroad. He is a member of Rainbow Bikes Cycling Team and along with his father, John Grenier, and Jared Buckingham, helps to organize local cycling races. Rainbow Bicycles also helps as organizers and participants in the Maine Cycling Club, as well as the annual Dempsey Center Fundraiser, The Dempsey Challenge.

1:10-1:30pm, 1:40-2:00pm-Thai Yoga Bodywork w/Julie Gammon ( 2 slots, $25.00 each. Pre-registration required.) Enjoy 20 minutes of Thai Yoga Bodywork with Julie. Thai Yoga Bodywork is a unique method of gentle assisted yoga stretching and gentle joint opening movements that restore the flow of your vital life force (Sen, Qi, Prana) throughout the whole body. It is a very adaptable and intuitive method allowing for all body types regardless of perceived flexibility. Please avoid wearing fragrance during session. Julie has chemical sensitivities. About Julie: Julie Gammon is a Certified Thai Yoga Bodywork practitioner & teacher, Licensed Massage & Bodywork Therapist, Dharma & Hatha Yoga Instructor, Mehndi (henna) artist, world traveler, nature lover and warm weather chaser. She has been practicing yoga since 2002, received her first 200 hr yoga teacher training in 2009 with ShivaShakti in Maine, and in 2013 completed the 200 hr ‘Life of A Yogi’ teacher training with Dharma Mittra in NYC. Session 3: 2:15-3:15pm- Ayurveda & Medicated Herbal Oils for Self-Care with Heidi L. Audet, E-RYT 500, AHC Ayurveda is the science, or study of life. In this 1 hour workshop, learn about the medicated herbal oils used in Ayurveda self-care practices. Understand how the dosha or essence of the herbal oils has an effect on the dominant doshas of individuals. Sample oils will be given to participants.

About Heidi: Heidi L. Audet is the co-owner/co-manager of Chill Yoga and is a board member for the YWCA of Central Maine. She has been practicing yoga for 17 years, teaching for over 13. She is an Ayurvedic Health Counselor, certified by the National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA). Heidi is an adjunct faculty member of the Himalayan Institute where she teaches Ayurveda locally and abroad. She offers Ayurvedic classes and consults at Chill Yoga and through her private practice in Falmouth at Meadow Wind Institute.

Session 3 (con't): 2:15-3:15pm- Yoga Nidra with Diane Handler, RYT Experience a deep journey inward as we go through a step by step relaxation followed by a guided meditation. There will be some gentle movement to begin, suitable for all levels. Bring: yoga mat, favorite blanket and pillow. About Diane: Diane Handler, RYT, is a recently retired Physician Assistant and part-time yoga teacher. She is a graduate of the 200hr Yoga Teacher Training program at Shiva Shakti, in Rockland, Maine, and a graduate of the Yoga Nidra training from the same school. Experienced in Ashtanga and Vinyasa flowstyle yoga with a strong interest in Ayurveda, Diane combines these practices and her experience in Western Medicine with mindfulness, body awareness and a balanced approach to life. She believes that Yoga can be individualized to a person's current needs and limitations. She encourages people of all levels to give Yoga a try.

2:15-3:15pm- Men's Yoga Stretches with Paul Jones If you are looking to improve your flexibility, get a gentle workout and havve fun, join Paul! This class will help you gain strength, range of motion, improve your posture, increase your lung capacity, all while learning some relaxation skills. Bring: Yoga Mat and a good attitude! About Paul: Paul Jones has been practicing Ashtanga Yoga since 2005. In February of 2010, he became a 200hr. certified yoga teacher upon graduating from YOGAspirit(tm) Studios (South Hamilton, MA). Paul's training also includes yoga workshops with David Swenson and Nancy Gilgoff, both nationally recognized Ashtanga Yoga Masters. Because of his personal, positive experiences with yoga restoring his posture, increasing his flexibilty and stamina, Paul has a desire to share his experience with others, of all ages.
