CITRUS COUNTY | 2035 Long Range Transportation Plan Rules and Directions Workshop Rules and Directions Geographic workshops involve extensive interaction and discussion. Each participant will hear opinions on topics that he or she may disagree with. Therefore, it is important that we all follow a set of basic ground rules. These rules are designed to make your workshop experience smooth and productive. 

Each topic should be discussed so that all participants have at least a general understanding of the topic;



Each participant must be allowed to express an opinion without interruption;



If you have problems or questions, please ask a Geographic Workshop Facilitator to assist in answering the question or resolving the problem.

CITRUS COUNTY | 2035 Long Range Transportation Plan SAFETEA-LU Metropolitan Planning Factors In 2005 the Safe Accountable Flexible Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users, or SAFETEA-LU, was signed. This federal law established eight Metropolitan Planning Factors that are to be addressed in Long Range Transportation Plans.

Support the economic vitality of the metropolitan area, especially by enabling global competitiveness, productivity, and efficiency.

Increase the safety of the transportation system for motorized and nonmotorized users.

Increase the security of the transportation system for motorized and nonmotorized users.

Increase the accessibility and mobility of people and for freight.

Protect and enhance the environment, promote energy conservation, improve the quality of life, and promote consistency between transportation improvements and state and local planned growth and economic development patterns. Enhance the integration and connectivity of the transportation system, across and between modes, for people and freight.

CITRUS COUNTY | 2035 Long Range Transportation Plan 2035 Forecast Socioeconomic Data—Employment Employment growth between 2006 and 2035 is also concentrated in the central part of the county, but growth is also expected in the northern parts where Industrial employees are forecasted.

Most of the major regional roadways in Citrus County are 2-Lane Undivided, although US 19, US 98, and SR 44, the major regional thoroughfares are 4-Lane Divided roads.

Most of the major regional roadways in Citrus County have a Level of Service of C. CR 491 from SR 44 to CR 486 is the only segment that has an LOS of F.
