Loose layers of dust and cobwebs are easily cleaned with little effort. Damp cleaning eliminates oily and tough pollutant layers with the help of sponges soaked with special insulating cleaning liquid. This type of work is performed according to the “hot stick working” procedure.

Functional principle: Detection The protection transformers situated upstream of the feeder circuit breakers detect the overcurrent resulting from the arc fault in all infeeds. Special light sensors detect the extremely bright light of the arc fault. Depending on the requirements of the relevant switchgear installation, light sensors CTGCXCKNCDNGCURQKPVUGPUQTUQTƂDTGQRVKEUGPUQTU Evaluation Electronic detection devices link the sensor signals and activate the short-circuiters of the relevant busbar as well as the shunt releases of all feeder circuit breakers in case of both detection parameters.

Quenching As soon as the short-circuiter is activated, a bolted short-circuit is generated in parallel to the arc fault within a short period of time. Due to this low-impedance bypass, the voltage drops and the arc fault is quenched immediately. Thyristors short-circuit the three phases of the busbar directly after the short-circuiter has been activated. Subsequently, a spring-driven contact system carries the short-circuit current until the installation is disconnected by the feeder circuit breakers. Isolation To ensure that the switchgear installation is not loaded with the short-circuit current for longer than necessary – and to ensure additional safety – a disconnection command is transmitted to the relevant shunt release QHCNNHGGFGTEKTEWKVDTGCMGTUXKCƃQCVKPIEQPVCEVU6JKUOGCPUVJCVVJG busbar section where the arc fault occurred is already isolated from the system. Active Arc Fault Protection

To achieve this, particularly short response times are required in high-energy switchgear installations. Just a few milliseconds are decisive for the intensity and the feects of an arc fault. DEHNarc protects persons from the effects of an arc fault during live working. It detects arc faults in an installation and immediately causes a short-circuit which trips the upstream overcurrent protective device. Consequently, the incident energy is considerably reduced. The protection system &'*0CTEUKIPKƂECPVN[NKOKVUVJGVJGTOCNGHHGEVUQHCTEHCWNVU BGI/GUV-I 5188 also refers to the mobile arc fault protection system to ensure personal protection. The mobile components (Figure 1)

The light sensor supports, NH fuse switch disconnector and the retaining FGXKEGHQTVJGEQPVTQNWPKVCTGƂTON[ƂZGF Figure 2) to accept the control unit, sensors, short-circuiting cartridges, disconnecting blade and junction piece. The NH fuse block used for this purpose, which carries short-circuit currents up to 25 kA, can also be used during normal operation, for example as spare outgoing strip.
