Okay, let’s dive into the three lanes in the SSF format:

Sidewalk: Low Obligation, Problem Oriented Ssshhh. You’re not important to your lead yet. You simply need to show them the pain that’s in their life by convincing them that they’re missing something. In this stage, you want to ensure that whatever interactions you have are short and to the point. Focus on educating them on the pain in their life. You don’t need to talk about yourself, as you need the pain to be relevant first. This means that your lead magnets need to be require less than 5 minutes, that your landing page is short, and your email stream reinforces the pain. This is the person that would come from a Sidewalk source, such as Facebook. In fact, what you’re reading right now is a Sidewalk Lead Magnet :)

Slow Lane: Medium Obligation, Process/Knowledge Oriented Now that the pain is more than a whisper, it’s time to let this person know who you are. You also should be giving them knowledge and information on the process to solve their pain and simplify and improve their life. It’s your job to give them enough logical information to satisfy their desire to feel informed and to understand the key problem and potential solutions. In this stage, you have the ability to give them information that is longer and more detailed, because they’re are willing to spend time “exploring”. This person would either come from a retargeting ad, Google, or from your Sidewalk marketing tactics once they’ve changed “lanes”. The actual piece of value you give them could be an eBook, long-form guide, video series, or even a content webinar.

FAST Lane: High Obligation, Solution / Condition Oriented Now, you have them. Their problem is SCREAMING, and it’s time to show them the solution. It’s time to give them the opportunity to work with you. But that’s not enough. In the Slow Lane, the person was acting logically. Now they’re acting based on emotional conditions, like how they feel about money, time, what their business partner or significant other will think, or the specific outcome they imagine. In this stage, your lead magnets can require much more time because the person wants to purchase and have the opportunity to work with your business. It’s time to turn those leads into lifelong customers.

What does it look like in the real world? That’s a great question. Here’s a quick walkthrough of the process. A person reading this guide is probably in our Sidewalk. We’re trying to show them that there is a better way to bring qualified leads into their business. Whether they’re just tinkering with marketing or have a full funnel, they’re missing out. They may have come to the guide via a Facebook ad, referred by a friend, or came from our email list. However they got here, we think they need to be convinced that there is a pain. From here the person may move to a video series, thereby transferring into our Slow Lane. In this lane, we’ll teach them exactly how this all works, how our 8-step proven formula has helped hundreds of entrepreneurs, and we even give them the entire plan. The idea is to provide free training and information to help them understand and be informed.

Once they’ve proven to us that they’re serious about growing their business, we’ll invite them to our webinar, where I show them exactly how to unleash this and implement the plan. At that point I’ll give them the opportunity to work with me so that in less than 12 weeks, they have the ability to “do it right” without making the mistakes that most people make. But if they never make it to the Fast Lane, I won’t offer it to them. We don’t offer it to those who haven’t proven they are serious. We want to ensure that they NEED it and that they WANT the opportunity to work with us.
