BOYLAN DANCE TEAM Expectations and Regulations Academics: The Boylan Dance Program expects academics to be each participant’s first priority. Boylan Dance Team members are expected to follow the BCHS rules for eligibility. The Athletic Director will notify coaches if a participant becomes ineligible during the season. Attendance: Attendance at all rehearsals and games is mandatory. Unexcused absence: Team members are allowed (3) unexcused misses per season. Competition rehearsals are mandatory. Unexcused misses will not “roll over” from previous seasons and will start over during the next season. If a rehearsal is missed prior to a performance and the team member is unprepared to perform they may be benched during that performance at the coach’s discretion. Repeated removal from performances due to a team member being unprepared will result in disciplinary action. In addition, if misses due to illness are of habitual nature, the team member will meet with coaching staff to determine action to be taken. Failure to comply with above rules may result in dismissal from the team. Absence due to illness: If a participant is absent from school on a rehearsal or game day, she may not participate in any event. In the case of an extended illness, a parent must contact the coach. It is the responsibility of each team member to report directly to a coach any illness or injury that may result in a missed game or rehearsal. Excused absence: Excused absences include: doctor appointments that could not otherwise be scheduled with a signed note from a physician, proof of absence from school due to illness, immediate family member’s wedding/funeral. *Family vacations are not excused absences. Please plan for the use of unexcused absences for these events. Games/Special Events: Dance members must arrive prior to the start of their scheduled game (time announced by coach). JV members are required to stay until the end of the Varsity halftime performance. All team members must stay in full uniform until the end of the Varsity halftime performance. All dance members are responsible for helping with and attending various school and community activities that include but are not limited to: planning and preparation for the Mother/Son Dance, participating in community service projects for fundraising activities, Little Girls Camp, etc. PAGE 5 OF 10
