BOSE A20 Aviation Headset ®

®

The best aviation headset ever from Bose.

Fly with it once, then try flying without it.

THE STANDARD IN active NOISE cancelling HEADSETS

from the company that created the concept.

Bose

®

was first to introduce active noise cancelling

headsets to aviation more than 20 years ago, forever changing the way pilots fly. Now, the Bose A20 ®

®

Aviation Headset introduces an entirely new standard. This headset has been completely re-engineered for significantly increased noise reduction in even louder environments. With an improved degree of comfort you’ll appreciate and the clear audio you expect from Bose.

THE ADVANTAGES: The A20 Aviation Headset offers you features including a ®

Bluetooth communications interface and an auxiliary audio input ®

for your GPS or traffic warning system. We believe that no other aviation headset delivers this advanced combination of noise reduction, comfort and communication capabilities.

1 Significantly greater noise reduction than currently available. 2 Improved level of comfort. 3 Clear audio. 4 Bluetooth communications interface. ®

5 Auxiliary audio input. 6 Priority switching. 7 Meets or exceeds all TSO standards. 8 Made in the U.S.A.

approach to sense more of the noise in any cockpit, constantly measuring it with microphones both inside and outside each earcup. Sophisticated electronics work separately with each microphone signal to compare the noise with the

clamping force than most other headsets. You can wear this headset for hours – and maybe even forget you are wearing it.

CLEAR AUDIO PLUS NEW COMMUNICATION CAPABILITIES The

you really want when flying – improved clarity for your communications. There’s also a Bluetooth commu ®

nications interface with a Bose exclusive in the aviation marketplace – integrated sidetone technology, which lets you hear your own voice more naturally when talking on your Bluetooth mobile cell phone. ®

An auxiliary audio input allows you to connect another external audio source, such as a portable GPS or traffic warning system. Priority switching gives you more control over what you hear by providing two listening settings – mixed and prioritized. Passengers and pilots both can select their own setting to match their preferences. It’s the clear audio you need – and more communication options to go with it.

Bose

introduced the world’s first active noise cancelling headset in

1986 – on the historic, first-ever, non-stop, around-the-world flight of the experimental Voyager aircraft. We’re proud of that accomplishment, and Microphones both inside and outside each cup constantly measure noise

even prouder of the fact that we continue to lead the field. Today, exclusive Bose technologies in our A20 Aviation ®

Headset take ANR headsets a significant step further. Unwanted noise is reduced more accurately across a wider range of frequencies, with greater comfort and expanded communications capabilities. The end result for you is a better flight experience.

CONFIGURATION INFORMATION

Accessories

The A20 Aviation Headset comes in several configurations, allowing you to adapt it to your preferences and aircraft. Each complete headset comes with an inline control module with left/right volume control, smooth glide boom microphone, on/off switch and carrying case. For additional specialized applications, Bose offers optional aircraft plugs or microphones. Because of the modular nature of the A20 Aviation Headset, different cable configurations may be purchased separately and added easily with no need for adapter plugs. ®

®

Battery-powered Dual plug, the most popular configuration. Available with and without Bluetooth communications interface. ®

U174 single plug for helicopters Available with an electret (high impedance) with or without Bluetooth communication interface. Also available with a dynamic mic (low impedance, 5 Ohm) without Bluetooth communication interface. ®

®

portable Control module Both battery-powered configurations come with the portable control module which powers the headset for at least 45 hours on two AA alkaline batteries. The module includes automatic ‘smart’ shut-off, tri-color battery indicator with day/night brightness adjustment, stereo/mono switch, separate L/R volume controls and microphone. Specify Bluetooth communications interface or conventional. ®

6-Pin Connector to Dual G/A Plug ADAPTER CABLE Allows the aircraft-powered headset configuration to be used in most other aircraft. 6-Pin Connector to U174 single helicopter plug Adapter Cable Allows the aircraft-powered headset configuration to be used in most helicopters.

Voltage Battery power: 2 AA alkaline batteries (45 hours). Aircraft power: 10 to 32 VDC. Current 25 mA typical. Fuse/breaker recommended ¼ amp, fast blow fuse (AGC ¼ amp fuse) or ½ amp circuit breaker. Impedance Monaural mode: 160 Ohm ON and OFF. Stereo mode: 320 Ohm ON and OFF. Weight 340 grams.

Replacement cushion kit Supple ear cushions. One pair.

INSTALLED CONTROL MODULE The installed control module is similar to the portable control module, it provides identical benefits. The 6-pin connector to dual G/A plug adapter cable, and 6-pin connector to U174 single plug adapter cable allow installed aircraft-powered cable configurations to be used in most conventional aircraft.

Carrying case included

Microphone (electret) Bias required: 8 to 16 VDC through 220 to 2200 Ohm Sensitivity: Varies depending on bias and AC radio input impedance. Typical output is 600 mV at 114 dB SPL. To assure proper modulation of the radio, it is recommended that an avionics technician adjust its input to match the output of the microphone.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Microphone (dynamic) Impedance: 5 Ohm.Sensitivity: Equivalent to M-87/M-101.
