Offensive Player of the Week Amy Marron, St. John’s, Sr.

Amy Marron, St. John’s – Marron had an eight-point effort with three goals and two assists in a 5-0 win against North Dakota State. All three goals were scored on headers. She tied a school record for most points in a game. The Red Storm were 2-0 for the week. Marron is second in the BIG EAST in scoring with 11 points.

Defensive Player of the Week Kelsey O’Donnell, Creighton, Sr.

O’Donnell helped the Bluejays to a 2-0 week, which included a 6-0 victory against North Dakota and a 4-1 win against Northern Colorado. She also scored a goal against Northern Colorado. The lone senior on the back line, O’Donnell helped the Bluejays not allow a corner in either match.

Goalkeeper of the Week

Julie Barton, Butler, Sr. Barton led the Bulldogs to a 2-0 week with a 3-0 shutout of Northern Kentucky and 2-1 overtime win against Bowling Green. She made four saves against Bowling Green. The blanking of Northern Kentucky was the senior’s 10th of her career.

Rookie of the Week

Katie Martin, Villanova, Fr. Martin scored a goal in each game of a 1-1-1 week for the Wildcats. She had a goal and an assist in a 4-2 loss to No. 17 Maryland. The freshman forward scored Villanova’s only goal in a 1-1 tie with Drexel and she scored in a 2-0 win against Lehigh.

BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll Ana Greik, DePaul, F, Fr. Scored a goal is a 3-1 victory at Ohio and tallied again in a 3-1 win against College of Charleston.

Audra Ayotte, Georgetown, F, Jr. Posted a goal and an assist in each game of a 2-0 week that included a 3-2 win over George Washington and a 4-0 win against VCU.

Kathryn Hiller, Providence, F, So. Scored three goals in the Friars’ only game of the week, a 4-1 win against New Hampshire.

Rachel Daly, St. John’s, F, So. Had three goals in a 2-0 week, including the game’s only goal in a 1-0 win against Massachusetts.

Jennifer Pettigrew, Seton Hall, GK, Sr. Notched a four-save shutout in a 2-0 win against Army, which was the Pirates’ only game of the week.

St. John’s Off to Best Start Since 1997

Jays Right the Ship in a Big Way

St. John’s is off to a 4-0-0 start, its best start since 2007 after a two-shutout weekend for the Red Storm … St. John’s has outscored its four opponents 13-1 … The last time St. John’s women’s soccer had two games in a season where the Red Storm won by five or more goals was in 1992 … The Red Storm defeated Siena, 6-0 on Sept. 20 then Fairfield, 5-0 on Oct. 7 … The last time St. John’s had three-straight shutouts was in 2010 … The 2010 Red Storm went 3-0-1 from Aug. 27 through Sept. 5 … The Red Storm has been showing a lot of depth and once again were able to go 22 players deep against NDSU on Sept. 1.

Back-to-back wins over North Dakota (6-0 on Aug. 30) and Northern Colorado (4-1 on Sept. 1) evened the Jays record at 2-2-0 this season … The Bluejays scored four goals or more in consecutive matches for the first time since 2001 (9/30 - 5–0 over Belmont, 10/5 - 6–1 over Indiana State).

Marron Sets Single Game Points Record for Red Storm Against NDSU on Sept. 1, senior forward Amy Marron set the St. John’s record for points in a single game with an all header hat trick and two assists for eight points … Marron accounted for all five goals in the 5-0 shutout, as she assisted both of Daly’s goals while adding three of her own, including the eventual game-winner in the 11th minute.

Butler’s Norton Moves Up Ladder for Career Shutouts Julie Burton recorded her second shutout of the season with a 3-0 win over Northern Kentucky … The senior now has 10 career shutouts moving her to third all-time in Butler women’s soccer history.

Seton Hall’s Clarke Leading Pirates Offense Senior Ashley Clarke assisted on the game-winning goal in a 2-0 victory over Army (Aug. 30) … She has now scored or assisted on three of the Pirates’ four goals this season and is tied for second in program history with 14 assists.

Pirates Goalkeeper Pettigrew Back in Action Red-shirt senior GK Jennifer Pettigrew recorded her first shutout of the season with four stops against the Black Knights … It was just her third game since returning after missing all of 2012 due to injury … She has now allowed just one goal in the last 277 minutes of play.

Marquette Players Honored at Weekend Tournament Seniors Emily Jacobson and Taylor Madigan were named to the all-tournament team of the Notre Dame Invitational … Freshman Ashley Handwork scored the Golden Eagles lone goal against No. 4 UCLA, which was her first collegiate goal … MU took 13 shots vs No. 4 UCLA and out-shot the Bruins with shots on goal, 5-3.

Hiller Nets Hat Trick for Providence

Jarsombeck is Answering the Paige Freshman Paige Jarsombeck took the Jays’ season-opening shutout loss at Utah State (3-0 on Aug. 23) a bit personally … She has responded with goals in each of Creighton’s following three contests, including two in Creighton’s 6-0 win at North Dakota, becoming the first Jay to notch a goal in three straight matches since Brittney Neumann did it in 2010 (Sept. 26, Oct. 2 & Oct. 9).

DePaul Offense Leading the Way DePaul has scored 10 goals in its last three matches … In that span, the Blue Demons have outscored opponents 10-2 … Freshman Ana Greik has two goals in her first four collegiate matches.

Villanova Picks Up First Win of the Season Villanova notched their first win of 2013 in a 2-0 victory over Lehigh on Sunday. Senior goalkeeper Jami Kranich made the 200th save of her career to help propel the Wildcats over the Mountain Hawks… Against No. 17 Maryland on Monday, Kranich tallied eight saves and posted the second-high singlegame performance of her collegiate career as Villanova nearly pulled the upset over the nationally ranked Terps … Freshman Katie Martin had three goals and one assist week for Villanova, putting herself at the top of the Wildcat point race … For the season, Martin has tallied seven points to lead the team during her first year on the Main Line.

Hoyas Continue Winning Ways Georgetown posted a pair of wins over the weekend, improving to 4-0-0 to start the season ... It is the fifth time in the last six years that the Hoyas have started the season with four-straight wins ... The win over VCU on Sunday was the team’s 14th-straight win at home and the 11th shutout in that span, dating back to 2011 ... The team has spread the wealth offensively ... This weekend, five different players scored goals – with juniors Audra Ayotte and Vanessa Skrumbis each scoring two goals – and six different players each had at least one assist.
