Berkeley Social Welfare Elective Requirement The MSW degree requires a minimum of 48 units in approved coursework related to social welfare. All concentrations require 19 field education units in SOC WEL 400 & 401 and 29 academic units. The number of required courses varies between concentrations and therefore varies the number of elective units required by each concentration. The following chart outlines the academic unit requirement for each concentration. CONCENTRATION

Be sure to check the Online Schedule and consult with the offering department before registering for the course. Courses marked with an asterisk (*) denote electives that are approved as alternatives to SOC WEL 275. If a course is not on this list, you may petition to have the course approved to satisfy elective requirements.
