Gallagher, MT-BC – Director of Education 216.521.2540 x12 [email protected] Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy from Cleveland State University and pursuing a graduate certificate in nonprofit management through the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Founded Beck Center’s Creative Arts Therapies program in 1994. He serves as the VicePresident of the Cleveland Arts Education Consortium and is past president of the Great Lakes Region of the American Music Therapy Association (GLR-AMTA) and the Association of Ohio Music Therapists (AOMT), and serves several community agencies including VSA arts of Ohio/Cleveland Division. Received the GLR-AMTA 2007 Service Award and the 2012 Past President’s Award from AOMT. He has been recognized by the City of Lakewood for bringing the healing power of music to the community.

Dance Education * Dance Education * Dance Education Melanie Szucs – Associate Director of Dance Education 216.521.2540 x26 [email protected] Instructor in jazz and ballet for over 30 years and serves as the director and choreographer of the Beck Center Dance Workshop. In her early years, she was named Miss Dance Michigan and performed as a soloist with Dance Detroit; she studied with George Zorich and on full scholarship with the School of Cleveland Ballet.

Louise Hadaway - Jazz Teacher Originating from York, England, a Musical Theater graduate from London's Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts. She relocated to Cleveland in 2010 upon retirement from 20 years of performing, teaching, and hiring dancers for Carnival Cruise Lines. Most recent performances include The Big Easy, Jump, Jive & Wail and Ticket To Ride. Lou is an avid dog lover and eclectic music fan.

Joan Hartshorne – GYROKINESIS® BA from University of Wisconsin in biology. Danced with Jose Limon from 1959-1961 and headed the dance department at Karamu House from 1961-1981. Received her MFA in Dance from Case Western Reserve University in 1994. Certified GYROKINESIS® and Pilates instructor. Enjoys making jewelry and plays second violin in the Suburban Symphony Orchestra.

Kara Madden - Ballet and Contemporary Dance Teacher BA in English and Biology from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI, and dancer in the Verb Ballets Contemporary Dance Company in Cleveland. Has trained with the Grand Rapids Ballet Company, Chicago Civic Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance Company, and Merce Cunningham Dance Company. Kara loves playing Debussy on the piano and rocking out to The Beatles.

Emma Parker - Ballet Emma earned her B.A. in Dance from Ball State University and trained with Linni Deihl in Dance Movement Therapy. She is currently a member of Dancing Wheels, a Cleveland based dance company that promotes integrated dance through school residencies and public performances. She has taught in northeast Ohio as well as her native Indiana.

Anna Roberts - Ballet BFA in Dance from The University of Akron, has danced with Marronprater Dance and Music Co., Dancing Wheels and Verb Ballets. While dancing with Verb, she had the privilege of performing works by Martha Graham, David Parsons, Ulysses Dove, Heinz Poll, Sean Curran, and Paul Taylor. Also a certified Pilates and Zumba instructor. Anna loves taking walks with her chocolate lab, Coco, and curling up with a good book.

Lynda Sackett - Tone and Stretch BS in Education from Baldwin-Wallace College. Studied with Dave Morgenstern, Louis Dapron and many dance masters. She is the recipient of the 2000 Ohio Dance Award for Advancement of Dance Education and the 2003 Award for Distinguished Contribution to Arts Education for Northeastern Ohio by the Ohio Arts Education Association. Served in numerous capacities at Beck Center including founding Director of Dance, Director of Outreach and guided educational programs for many years.

Heather Sakai - Preschool Dance and Preballet BA in Sociology from Baldwin-Wallace College and Masters in Social Service Administration and Contemporary Dance from Case Western Reserve University. Dance program manager at the Little Gym in Avon and has taught dance and gymnastics both locally and abroad in Hong Kong. Heather is the artistic director of the clothing company 2chicks.

Mimi Schwensen - Tap and Ballet Mimi was a Radio City Rockette, danced in summer stock, on Broadway, and with the Metropolitan Opera Ballet. A dance teacher for competitive figure skaters, she has studied with Tallchief, Bob Audy, Matteo, Luigi, Gennaro, among others.

Jason Wang-Dance Jason Wang, a graduate of the University of Iowa, began his journey through dance as a self-taught break-dancer performing and battling with B.w.B (Breakers without Borders) and "Floor Spiders Crew," to later find his love for classical ballet. At nineteen, he enrolled at the Robert Thomas Dance Center, under the guidance of Bob and Miyoko-Kato Thomas. After attending the University of Iowa, Mr. Wang went on to perform with Cincinnati Ballet and Louisville Ballet.

Music Education * Music Education * Music Education Matthew Charboneau – Associate Director of Music Education 216.521.2450 x37 [email protected] BM in Double Bass Performance from Oberlin College Conservatory of Music and Master of Nonprofit Organization from CWRU’s Weatherhead School of Management. For the past twenty years he has been an entrepreneur, managing performing groups, running independent record labels, programming and promoting concerts, and providing arts-based project management and consulting services to the small business and nonprofit community. He was Director of the COSE Arts Network and was Associate Director of Roots of American Music. Mr. Charboneau is always open to as many musical styles as possible with a recent focus on performing jazz, Afro-Cuban, rock, Americana/traditional, bluegrass, and neo-folk music across NE Ohio and beyond.

Jay Albert - Guitar BM in Guitar Performance from Baldwin-Wallace College; MA in Music Theory and Composition from Kent State University. Has served extensively in education management and as former Director of Education at Young Audiences; founded music education programs at Cuyahoga Community College, including the Tri-C JazzFest. Consulted for several arts organizations and taught at Kent State University and Baldwin-Wallace College.

Kathleen M. Bosl - Voice BM in Education with Voice Performance major and Piano from Baldwin-Wallace College Conservatory of Music. Participated in intensive post-graduate study in classical vocal training and maintains her skills in private studios of prestigious teachers. Active concert and recital soloist who performed in Milan, Italy, and with the Cleveland Opera Chorus for several seasons. A soprano soloist for many Oratorios and serves as cantor for churches and synagogues.

Christopher Ellicott - Guitar, Bass Guitar, Ukulele BA in Music from Baldwin-Wallace College and AA in Humanities and Music from County College of Morris (NJ). Performs annually in the Classical Guitar Workshop at the University of Cincinnati and locally as a soloist and member of Sunday in the Park. Founder and director of Lakewood Guitar Consort that is in-residence at Beck Center. Studied under Dr. Loris Chobanian. Chris has completed 10 marathons.

Bruce Erwin - Violin, Viola, Fiddle BM from the University of Iowa and MM from Baylor University; completed doctoral coursework and two recitals at the University of North Texas. A member of ASTA and Suzuki Association of the Americas, he taught at El Campamento Musical Juvenil Panamá, Dallas-Fort Worth WOW Suzuki Institute and Suzuki Music Columbus Suzuki Institute. Ohio Scottish Fiddle Champion in ’97 and ’98. Bruce published a book of fiddle tunes called “The Fiddler’s Wrist.”

Jessica Firing - Violin BM in Violin Performance from the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory. Has completed training in Suzuki Books 1-4 and attended Mimi Zweig's Retreat for Violin/Viola teachers. Active member of American String Teachers Association (ASTA) and Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA). Currently teaches and freelances throughout the Cleveland area while maintaining a love for art, swing dancing, and sitting down with a good book. (www.jfiringstudio.com)

Michelle Holy - Woodwinds Currently earning a BS in Music from Cleveland State University, with a focus on Music Education and Flute Performance. Woodwind coach at Cleveland Heights High School and Perry High School. Michelle is currently playing in Cleveland Winds (flute). She maintains an active schedule as a full time student, practicing woodwinds and piano, and student teaching in the Willoughby School District.

Gabriella Martinez - Voice BM in Choral Directing from the University of Chile and MA in Vocal Performance at the Cleveland State University. Ms. Martinez began musical studies at the Alejandro Garcia Caturla Music Conservatory in Havana, Cuba and completed the high school music program at the National School of Music in Havana. In Santiago, she conducted several choirs including the adult choir of the Catholic University of Chile and the Choir of the Supreme Court of Santiago. From 2004 to 2008 she was the director of the adult choir and the youth choir of the Municipal Theater of Temuco, Chile. She performed soloist roles in La Traviata and Madama Butterfly at the Municipal Theater of Temuco. She was a Cleveland Orchestra Choir member during the 2008-2009 season. .

Theresa J. May – Trumpet/Brass A native of Cleveland, she received her Master’s degree in trumpet performance from the Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music and her Bachelor of Music from the University of Dayton. She has performed in various venues and maintains an active performance and teaching schedule.

Shanely Neimi – Voice Certified through London College of Music, studied privately in Italy and Sweden and currently enrolled at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Over ten years experience working with youth, most recently performing and teaching voice and theory at Academia International Music Foundation in Hyderabad, India. Shanely specializes in performing German Lieder. She enjoys nature, cultural diversity, and service in church and the community.

Van Parker – French Horn BM in Music from Oberlin Conservatory of Music and MA in Horn Performance and Literature from Northwestern University. A champion of new music, Van has been a member of the Oberlin Contemporary Music Ensemble, the Northwestern Contemporary Music Ensemble, and has participated in premieres of works by Eric Whitacre, Lewis Nielsen, and Indiana composer Deborah Phelps from whom he commissioned the piece Cui Bono, a duet for horn and violin. Mr. Parker has also performed with Oak Park, River Forest, Waukegan, Lake Shore, and Sherwood Symphonies in Illinois and currently plays with the Firelands Symphony (Sandusky, OH) and Cleveland Winds. In recent seasons, Van also appeared in performances with the Akron, Ashland, Mansfield, and Youngstown Symphonies and the Chagrin Falls Studio Orchestra. He performs frequently on historical instruments, most notably in a 2006 performance of Niccolo Piccini’s 18th century opera, La Buona Figliuola.

Rosalima Valdez Pham - Piano MM in Piano Performance from Cleveland Institute of Music and Case Western Reserve University, BM in Piano Performance from Mount Union College. Taught at Mount Union College preparatory division, and served as a Collaborative Pianist. Performed as a Collaborative Pianist for recitals at various colleges and universities, as well as at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall.

Susan Schoeffler - Piano BM and MM in Piano Performance from Cleveland Institute of Music, where she was a scholarship student of Sergei Babayan and Vitya Vronsky Babin and received the Sadie Zellen Prize in Piano. Ms. Schoeffler has had a violin-piano duo with Cleveland Orchestra violinist Kim NolenGomez for over 10 years, and has performed in venues such as Severance Hall, Mixon Hall and on WCLV. As an accompanist, she has served on the accompanying staff at Indiana University and has served as the vocal accompanist for Cleveland Institute of Music faculty Clifford Billions and Mary Schiller. As a pedagogue Ms. Schoeffler was on the Adjunct Faculty at Westminster College (New Wilmington, PA). Melissa Sorohan - Voice BM in Voice from Cleveland Institute of Music. Studied with Clifford Billions and performed in the Cleveland Institute of Music Opera Theater. Studied with Karan Holvik and Constance Haas at the Eastman School of Music, and continues to study voice with Cynthia Wohlschalger. Currently a Section Leader at First Unitarian Church of Cleveland in Shaker Heights. She loves thrift shopping, sewing and her growing vinyl collection.

Vilma Vargo - Piano BM and Master of Education from Baldwin-Wallace College. Certified in Dalcroze Eurhythmics from Carnegie-Mellon University. Member of the Dalcroze Society of England and the United States. Vilma plays piano, harpsichord and pipe organ.

Theater Education * Theater Education * Theater Education Jonathan S. Kronenberger – Associate Director of Theater Education 216.521.2540 x27 [email protected] BFA in Acting from Miami University and MFA in Directing from Ohio University. He is an associate member of the Dramatists Guild. His experience includes serving as assistant to the director at Circle in the Square Theatre School in New York; as assistant to the producer with the Kenley Players, and has worked as assistant to the artistic director at Cleveland Play House. Jonathan has served as director both locally and in New York. Beck Center Youth Theater directing credits include: Avenue Q School Edition, Our Town, Reckless, Charlotte’s Web, Cats, Into the Woods, Cinderella, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and Twelve Angry Jurors.

Angela Bruzina – Musical Theater Completing her course work toward a BME in music education from the Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory of Music and has been a member of the Beck faculty for three years. She has served as a Music Director for the Junior Theater, Musical Theater, and Art Sampler Camps as well as a music teacher for Outreach Education. Last spring she was Music Director for the Youth Theater's production of "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.” She has also served in various capacities including Brecksville Theater on the Square, Mercury Summer Stock, Garfield Players, and The Mad Factory. She will be teaching the "Developing the Audition Portfolio" for teens and Music Directing the Youth Theater's production of "Bye Bye Birdie.”

Sarah Clare - Adventures in Acting, Kids-N-Theatre, Little Folks Theater BA in Dramatic Arts from Cleveland State University with an emphasis on performance and directing. Currently serves as the resident choreographer for Lake Catholic and Valley Forge High Schools. Has worked throughout the Cleveland area as an actor, director, choreographer, and teacher. Sarah loves to bake, craft and desires to be a pirate.

Dana Hart - Drama Specialist Mr. Hart has appeared at the Beck Center in shows ranging from Annie (Daddy Warbucks) to David Mammet’s Oleanna including Romeo and Juliet, Bent, The History Boys, The Farnsworth Invention, and Jekyll and Hyde. Off-Broadway credits include Holy Ghosts, Twelfth Night, The Mousetrap, and Molly Bloom. He has acted with regional theaters including Alaska Repertory Theatre, San Diego Rep, Milwaukee Rep, Playhouse Square, Great Lakes Shakespeare Festival, Seattle’s Evergreen Theater and Baltimore’s CenterStage. Cleveland area credits include: Emma, Richard III and Cesar and Cleopatra at The Cleveland Play House, Edward Albee’s Marriage Play at Cesear’s Forum, Guys On Ice: The Ice-fishing Musical, Arms and the Man, and Sanders Family Christmas at Actor’s Summit; Measure for Measure and Gold Star, Ohio at Cleveland Public Theatre, Steelbound and My Writer, My Actress at Ensemble Theatre, and Safety at Dobama.

Holly Harris - Dance for Musical Theater Instructor BS in Apparel Merchandising Product Development from Bowling Green State University. By day, a Donor Relations Associate at University Circle Inc., and guest choreographer for The Singing Angels. Enjoys performing at local theaters and has been seen in many Beck Center productions including Hairspray, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and The Producers.

John Krol - Fundamentals of Musical Theater, Teen Voice MA in Composition from Cleveland Institute of Music and MA in Conducting from Southern Methodist University. Career includes full-time instrumental, choral and general music teacher; has freelanced in directing, music directing, choral conducting, teaching theater, and vocal coaching. Lives with his family in South Euclid.

Joanna Li - Musical Theater Ms. Li moved to Cleveland in 2005 to earn her Master's in Music (organ performance) from the Cleveland Institute of Music. She serves as the organist at University Circle United Methodist Church, and has a double life as a music director for Heights Youth Theatre in University Heights. She teaches voice, piano, and organ privately, and has also taught choirs and instrumental ensembles. In the summer of 2011 she worked as a pianist for the theater department at the Interlochen Arts Academy.

Aaron Patterson - Drama Specialist Trained at the Second City Conservatory Program, which helped earn a spot as a cast member in Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding at PlayhouseSquare and Flanagan’s Wake simultaneously. Cofounded the “Other Theater Project” in 2004. Acting instructor at Hudson Theater Camp and various afterschool programs since 2002. Cast member of improvisation group, Something Dada for the past two years.

Rachel Spence - Drama Specialist, Playwright In addition to being the Associate Director of Outreach Education at Beck Center, she also directs youth theater productions. Over 20 years of early childhood education experience. Former theater instructor with the Strongsville City Schools and director of the Children’s Theater with the Royalton Players. As a playwright has written over 2,000 speaking roles for Beck Center and area school productions. Also an award-winning actress with an extensive resume in television and theater. Rachel enjoys reading her Kindle, rocking out to obscure bands, and snuggling with her shih Tzu.

Russel Stich – Improvisation, Theater Instructor Artistic Director and founding member of Something Dada Improvisational Comedy Co. Has over sixteen years of improvisational performance experience including playing the Best Man in Tony 'n Tina's Wedding. Directs for Olmsted Falls High School and served as Camp Director at Hudson Theater Camp for sixteen years.

Pam Wetula - Youth Acting BA in Theater and Speech from Marian College; additional studies in theater and music at Indiana University, Indiana Central University and through the Artist In Residence Program at the Indianapolis Opera Company. Many years of experience performing on stage and taught classes for adults and children in many venues. As an International Referral Network Area Director, Pam teachers “How to Do a Twenty Minute Presentation” and other classes to IRN’s business professional members.

Visual Arts Education * Visual Arts Education Susan Gallagher – Associate Director of Visual Arts Education 216.521.2540 x13 [email protected] BFA from Cleveland Institute of Art. An award-winning artist with over 40 years experience as a clay artist, teacher and technician. Also an educator with the Ohio Arts Council’s Artist in Residence program, and taught in many schools throughout the state. Has works in private and public collections, and has held multiple exhibitions. Susan is the owner of SMG Icon Ceramics.

Susan Ambro - Visual Arts Specialist BA in Art History from Ohio University and longtime pottery instructor at Beck Center and other community education programs in the Cleveland area.

Darrelle Anne Centuori - Mixed Media-Children, Parade the Circle team leader BA from Kent State University in Art History and Studio Art, with graduate level coursework in Art Therapy and Humanities. A Beck faculty member since 2008, she teaches Early Childhood ABC’s, Kids-N-Art and Intro to Art. Member of leadership team for the Beck’s annual Parade the Circle entry. Enjoys her two great kids, photography, leading tours at the Museum of Contemporary Art, and raising butterflies!

Bernie D’Ettorre - Watercolor The greatest influences came from Diane Boldman, Cathy Welner, Bob Moyer as well as Tom Lynch and other Ohio Watercolor Society workshops. I have participated in one woman shows as well as juried events, winning Best of Show - Lakewood Art League - two consecutive years as well as other awards throughout the area. She is a signature member of the Ohio Watercolor Society and her work has been displayed at Grand River Gallery in Rocky River, Blue Moon Gallery in Chagrin Falls, Mosaic Gallery in Cleveland, and Local Girl Gallery in Lakewood, as well as corporate centers, and private collections throughout Ohio, California, and England.

Danielle Doré-Rook - Drawing Fundamentals, Figure Drawing for Teens, Youth Pottery/Beginner BFA in Ceramics from Cleveland Institute of Art, with additional focus in Drawing and Print. Co-manager of ceramics department at the Brecksville Center for the Arts. Freelances as a ceramic and portrait artist; exhibits and sells her work through local studios and galleries. A Lakewood resident most of her life, she has 24 years of experience working with children.

Jeannie Oakar - Children’s Pottery Began working with clay in high school and continued in college at the University of Dayton. As a camp counselor, she found her passion for working with children. Also instructs at the Positive Education Program, working with special needs high school students, and is the founder of SpringBoard Artists, Inc. She loves to share her passion for pottery and art.

Regina Scicchitano - Fundamentals of Drawing, Intermediate/Advanced Drawing, Creative Sketchbook/Art Journal BFA from Cleveland Institute of Art. Has been pursuing a freelance career since graduation, which includes many corporate and private clients. Taught evening art classes at Polaris Career Center in the Continuing Education Department from 1997 to 2010; with the Beck Center since 2004. She enjoys spending time in Marblehead and the Lake Erie Islands area with family and friends.

Patricia Sigmier – Watercolor, Drawing BFA from Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana. Signature member of Ohio Watercolor Society. Instructs Watercolor Painting, Color Theory in Watercolor, Botanical Painting, and Portrait Painting in Watercolor. Also teaches Plein air painting for the Case Western Reserve University’s Continuing Education Department. Enjoys teaching art classes for local private groups and has exhibited in numerous juried shows.

Alastair Stockdale – Cartooning BA in Arts Education from Cleveland State University and a graduate with Summa Cum Laude honors. He recently received his teaching license and has done he has done collaborative work with the Cleveland Artists Foundation, Cleveland Museum of Art, and Beck Center along with various school districts such as Fairview, Berea, Parma, and the Cleveland Municipal School District. Here at Beck Center has worked in the areas of visual arts education, outreach education, and creative art therapies. His artwork continues to be exhibited and was last seen in the most recent faculty art show. Al has been moving chairs and unlocking doors at the Beck Center since 2005 while working behind the scenes at virtually every major event.

Creative Arts Therapies * Creative Arts Therapies Brittany Lesch, MT-BC – Associate Director of Creative Arts Therapies 216.521.2540 x34 [email protected] BM in Music Therapy from Ohio University and a Board-Certified Music Therapist specializing in leading group and individual sessions for all ages. Coordinates the early childhood arts programs including Kids-N-Tunes, Hear & Touch the Music, and Early Childhood ABC’s. Also a member of the steering committee of Northeast Ohio Center for Creative Aging. A native of Norwalk, OH, she enjoys the Beck Café!

Edward P. Gallagher, MT-BC - Music Therapist, Director of Education BM in Music Therapy from Cleveland Music Therapy Consortium and Cleveland State University. Founded Beck’s Creative Arts Therapies program in 1994. He leads sessions for young children as a music therapist with Toddler Rock at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and is a member of several local committees that serve individuals with special needs.

Tracy Phillips Ammon, MT-BC BM in Music Therapy from -Wallace College. Upon completion of her studies in 2007, she completed a six-month internship at University Hospitals in Cleveland, OH. She has worked for the Beck Center as a Staff Music Therapist since 2008 and has extensive experience working with young children (ages 0-6). She also holds a Diamond Designer leadership position with Premier Designs Jewelry (an independent sales company that specializes in high-fashion affordable jewelry), a position that less than 3% of consultants in the company achieve. In her "free" time Tracy also participates in her family-run candy store, Brandt's, producing home-made hand-dipped chocolates.

Kelly Pecl-Dreamer, MA, AT – Art Therapist She received her Bachelor of Arts and Master's in Art Therapy and Counseling from Ursuline College. She specializes in facilitating individual and group sessions with a variety of populations throughout the community. At Beck Center, Kelly leads Art Makers an adapted multimedia visual arts class for adults with special needs as well as Creative Expression for youth with special needs. In addition to her work at Beck Center, Kelly is an art therapist for the Arts and Medicine Institute at The Cleveland Clinic.

Sarah Link - Music Specialist BM in Music Therapy from the University of Dayton. Practiced music therapy at Riverside Academy of Music for four years and The Far Conservatory in Birmingham, MI for three years. Early childhood music instructor at the Beck Center since 2005. Enjoys spending time with her two daughters and husband.

Laura Lucas, MT-BC - BS in Music Therapy, Summa Cum Laude graduate of The State University of New York at Fredonia, with a minor in Psychology. Completed four years of piano study, pursuing education in the Taubman technique under the direction of Fr. Sean Duggan, OSB. Completed intensive six-month clinical internship at University Hospitals Case Medical Center where she worked with a populations ranging from preschool age children to the elderly. Began working at the Beck Center in October 2011. Though she enjoys the opportunity to work with all populations, working with the elderly is a special passion. Other interests include environmentalism, creative writing and cooking.

Over 20 years of early childhood education experience. Former theater instructor with the Strongsville City Schools and director of the Children’s Theater with the Royalton Players.
